In this video, Karen shows how to use our Rings & Bangles Textures to create sterling silver stacking bangles using EZ960® Sterling Silver Clay. EZ960 not only gives added strength, but also becomes very flexible when dried with a dehydrator, making it the perfect clay for this project. The overlapping connection technique Karen shares to create these bangles can be applied in many other areas of creating in metal clay.

I absolutely love all the CoolTools videos. The only thing I think would make them even better is to be more consistent with stating at the beginning of the video how much clay is being used. Otherwise, love,love,love!

Hi Cool Tools team, How exactly do you fire a piece with a stone in it? I’m trying to find a video on it but I’m not sure if they actually show them firing it. If you have a video up, can you please recommend it to me? Thank you so much in advance! 🙏🏼♥️

It all depends on what kind of stone you are firing. Some stones can be fired open shelf, others need to be fired in carbon. Our Gemstone Firing Guide is a comprehensive list of stones - the temperatures they can be fired at, the hold time, if they can be torch fired, and if they require carbon or can be fired open shelf. You can find it here: www.cooltools.us/v/vspfiles/assets/images/Article-Gemstones_In_Metal_Clay.pdf

Karen- It's been a while, but I'm trying to get back into metal clay again (I've been OBSESSED with copper electroforming for a minute, LOL!) and these bangles are AWESOME!!! Anyways, it looks very flexible as it is before firing, but I'm just wondering why you're not just using a sterling flex clay? Or would there just be no added benefit? Thanks so much! These are beautiful!

Hello, so glad you are getting back into metal clay! There isn't a sterling silver clay out there that is marketed as a flex clay. PMC Flex is a fine silver clay. EZ960 is VERY flexible when it dries, much more than any other sterling silver clay. Hope this helps!

@@cooltoolsvideos I guess I never really realized that LOL! Thanks.

I come from a smithing background. Could you fire these and form them into a bangle shape after they are fired?

And to clarify, I would also wonder if you could fire them, form them into shape and then solder them to a closed bangle?

@missmarakathryn Yes, you can bend EZ960 after firing. You'll just want to make sure you fire EZ960 at 1675°F for 4 hours instead of 2 hours just as an assurance that it is completely sintered and kilns can be off in their firing. Hope this helps!

The most important part for me was to see how the piece burned, they didn't do it.

Hi Myrna, the piece is fired inside of a kiln at 1675°F for 2 hours. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

Can this be fired in a beehive kiln?
@cooltoolsvideos
@cooltoolsvideos Год назад
Hello, EZ960 can be fired the Beehive, but we do not recommend dimensional pieces to be fired in the Beehive, as it is more difficult for them to sinter.
