THIS. This scene cemented the 1961 version as one of the best renditions for me. Ice taking over as the new boss of a demoralized and raging Jets, this was the best use of "Cool". One of the best jazz dance ensemble sequences ever executed.
Wonderful scene and song within west side story and the choreography of this awesome masterpiece is incredible and awesome rip Tucker smith and rip David winters also rip Tony mordante miss all three of you guys and two thumbs up on this wonderful masterpiece from your biggest fan shalom Lowell
As brilliant and as mind blowing as when I first saw this movie over 50 years ago, between the dancing, the music, and the acting.. And this is one movie, where a giant movie screen makes it all the more better. 5:38 - to about 5:47.. INTENSE !
You have to admire the way Ice stepped up and took control of the situation. He got the Jets to calm down after a fistfight turned into a brawl and became life-and-death with Riff and Bernardo both losing lives. Riff was a natural leader, he had the charisma. Tony was supposed to be # 2 but he disappeared, running to Maria. The Jets didn’t know this and were leaderless. Ice saw this, stepped up and stepped into Riff’s shoes.
