Coolant change for 2011-2019 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor Utility 

I'm no expert. The goal is 50/50 and you can buy a tester kit at the auto part store for like $5. You either start off refilling with a jug that is already 50/50 or continue to use one or the other until it's 50/50. Although nothing especially bad will happen if the mix is a bit off. it just changes the freezing point etc.

The OM was not with the vehicle when I acquired it but I read somewhere you should change it every 30,000 miles or every other oil change

@@waltertaylor9615 My book does not say that but it is a limited not an interceptor. I bought it new. If one misses this it could void a warranty. As to mileage it states 100,000 miles. But remember it also says 6 years. Then it goes to 3 years and/or50,000 miles. Now if you or I are not in a warranty I would change it every 5 years. After that Biden will probably out law it anyway! I hate trusting my car to anyone that is doing work I cannot see the results of. My coolant look, and is like new. Also now looking for a shop that has a machine that drives most of coolant out before adding more. I am due in June and am doing a recon now.🦇

Yeah without any background on the history, I had no idea when it was last done. But it was the wrong color and overall they recommended switching to the YELLOW to avoid damaging (whatever it damages) . It's pretty well known. Also it was LOW before I even started and you'd have to get orange or mix with water or use yellow + orange.

Ford moved to Yellow because Orange was causing heater core failures. If you allow the dealer to perform the coolant service, they will NOT flush the system. It is a drain and refill with up to 1 gallon of Yellow. The overflow bottle will still be orange.

If the orange caused heating core problems why would they use it for overflow?

I think he is saying, they do not clean out that bottle or replace the fluid. Came in red, goes out red. Best make sure you understand what ANY shop understands as a coolant swap.🦇@@waltertaylor9615

I guess for people too lazy to change the whole stuff out. But that's the word from THEM who do plenty of things that make no sense like doing a recall for cats for 3.7 but not for my 3.5 ecoobost that has the same cat issues@@waltertaylor9615
