My wife and I seen the Lewis family at least three times. Always a great time. When their set was over Little Roy would jam about all day. He really loved to play his instruments. Lord seeing them in concert.
I love the Lewis Family, was fortunate enough to see them in four different states: Ohio, PA, Florida, and Tennessee. They were always so fun and I appreciate their musicianship more and more as I get older. May Little Roy and Janis and Travis and Lewis Phillips all live to 100!
Brilliant, lovely and soul refreshing blue grass music from a famous LEWIS family collections! Thank you very much indeed for the wonderful songs, instrumental and sense of humour !!!
The release date for this recording was August, 1995. Wallace was not in the best of health here, as he had been suffering from Parkinson's for quite some time when this was filmed. This would be the last year he would travel with the group before retiring. He passed away in May of 2007. I'd seen the Lewis Family live on many occasions, and would sometimes drive for days to see one of their performances. They had a way of lifting you out of reality for a little while. And, while they were singers of gospel music... their real gift to all of us was JOY.
What a great show. It is Late January 2023, and the Lewis Family music never goes out of style. Pure, clean, toe tapping fun, and entertaining. Polly and Pop are gone, maybe someone else from the family is gone, but their music will live on forever. Music that even God can bless and enjoy. I love the Lewis Family. Not sure if they are related to my mother's Lewis side of the family. We are from Wales, British Isles , in this country since 1700's. We Lewises in my family are musically gifted, also. It would sure make sense if I ever found out if us Lewises were distant cousins of Lil' Roy and his kinfolk. God bless all of the Lewis family from Lincolnton, Ga..
