This is the prettiest video I’ve seen from you guys, and I’ve watched hours and hours of your videos! Your cinematography has improved a lot since this trip, so I’d love to see what you could do with this footage today. Could be a cool idea for a recap compilation video- take some of your prettiest old footage and color grade and edit it how you would today, maybe with new voice over commentary about how you feel about that experience now that you’ve been to a lot more places.

My grandfather went to Alaska for the last Alaskan gold rush and he told me that nose hairs, mustaches and beards ALL freeze and *break off,* and that native Alaskans NEVER have beards in winter because of this. First thing I thought about when they met the guys that took them to the glacier!

If I can make a suggestion for what to do on your next UK visit. I live at the "start" of the South West Coastal Path, here in England. It starts in Somerset, and follows the entire South Western Coast through Devon, Cornwall and ends in Dorset. At the start of the Path is a fantastic pub that also doubles as an inn/B&B. You can walk through 4 of the better counties in England (hey they ain't Yorkshire, but they'll do) and can experience the Cornish villages, the Jurassic Coast of Dorset and maybe even pop onto Dartmoor for some wilderness excitement. Also, I can buy you a pint or 2 in the pub at the start, since I live 15 mins from it.

Awesome. I'll be there in the beginning of this March and will definitely go there. Been there several times only during the summer and once in April. I hope ice thickness will be still god for safe walking.

Lived there for 30yrs. Was a joy seeing so many familar sights. Did you get to enjoy Chena Hot Springs in fairbanks, ill have to check your other vids. McKinley was finally changed by Obama in 2015 to its original Athabascan name of Denali (the great one). Alaska natives had wanted it changed back for many decades. Long over due.

In Fairbanks, its warm when its -10°F, can see college kids walking around in fall jackets, shoes, hat and no gloves. That's after it warms up from -30°F. On the other side you can see 80°F during the summer. I based this on you saying 20°F is warm, and not 68°F is warm (20°C)

I went to the Portage Glacier in the summer of 1975 and I was a bit confused that you had to walk over the frozen lake to get to it. Back then you could drive practically up to the glacier and they had a bar in the vicinity that sold a light blue cocktail which they'd named after it. Amazing to see the place again after all these years.

I could feel your excitement as you were walking around on the glacier. We did something similar in Juneau on Mendenhall except it was in August and we kayaked 2 miles before getting to climb the glacier. It is really fun to get to walk through the caves and, for me, wear the ice cleats for the first time!

Wish you could've seen Portage in the 70s - the lake would regularly have ice castle-like burgs floating...but glad you had a good trip out there. The Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm has to be among the most beautiful drives any time of year.

Until you take into consideration that Alaska is the size of the entire western half of the continental US! Iceland is *tiny* in comparison! Iceland is 39,768 square miles and Alaska is a whopping 663,267 square miles. So how is that "crowded"? Alaska is almost *17 TIMES* larger than Iceland!

Found this on the world wide web as to why the name of the mtn changed: Or, more accurately, the mountain formerly known as Mount McKinley just got its old name back. On Sunday (Aug. 30), during a trip to Alaska, President Obama said the name of the state's 20,237-foot (6,168 meters) mountain would officially be changed to Denali, which is what many Alaskans have called the peak all along.Sep 1, 2015
