The Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSK) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization connecting the Slavic countries. Its inception was prompted by the accession of Slavic countries to the European Union in 2004.
The initiative for the foundation of the FSK goes back to December 2002, when ministers of culture of Slavic countries met at an informal meeting in Brdo pri Kranju at the initiative of the then minister of culture of Slovenia. Together, they drafted a statement in which they called upon their countries to strengthen and promote mutual collaboration in culture and accelerate cooperation in European and other international organizations in the framework of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, which was to be based in Ljubljana. In 2004 Slovenia drafted the Act establishing the FSK as an international foundation.
The Forum of Slavic Cultures serves as an intersection of future partnerships. Its activities contribute to the positioning of Slavic cultures on the map of the world and to better understanding of the diversity of Europe today as promoted by the Council of Europe.
The FSK promotes intercultural dialogue at the global level. In our changing world it actively represents Slavic cultures with their characteristics and historic diversities.
