I just done my first ever brew with the same coopers ,I put 1.25 kilo of sugar in instead of 1 kilo I bottled it after 6 days 7 days later it’s clear as a bell so I opened a bottle I wasn’t expecting much .WOW IM GOBSMACKED ITS BETTER TASTING THAN MY NORMAL BEER 🍺 THAT I BUY FROM SAINSBURYS !! It’s lovely tasting it’s sparkling and it’s strong about 6% lol I’m no brewer all I did was follow the instructions and kept it at 22 degrees,I’m absolutely buzzing with the outcome I’m doing another one straight away woohoo 🙌
Didn't see you add the brew enhancer? If you haven't added this, it'll turn out with no mouthfeel, body or head retention and end up like piss in a glass
Just made same kit been fermenting since Saturday it's now Wednesday sg 1.060 added kg of liquid malt extract and 200g brewing sugar it's now sat at 1.010
Hi your suppose to add 1KG of sugar to the bucket, Otherwise this is going to be pretty much going to be alcohol free, The sugar you add to the bottles is just to give the bottles carbonation abit of fizz. The yeast wont have any sugar to eat in the bucket as you didnt add any.
Hi Daniel. You need to add 1kg of sugar, 1kg of Spraymalt or 1kg of Brew Enhancer to those Coopers kits. The sugar added to the bottles is solely to make it prime (fizz up a little). It barely affects the abv. That kit alone, without the above added fementables will give you a weak, watery beer. You can also simply rinse the can out with hot water (and gloves). Best advice is to use a two-can premium kit. Festival and Youngs kits lead the way here. The beer they make dances all over the one-can kits. Enjoy the hobby. It is very addictive. Cheers.
You appear to have found the only tin-beer kit in existence that doesn’t require the addition of sugar...or you didn’t pay attention to the instructions, I suspect the latter 😆
In oz we have had this product from the late 70's larger is made from barley mostly.A few tips always wash your bottle out 3 times with hot water from tap as soon as you finish it and cap then put cap on it makes easy for next brew clean.Use raw sugar for a better head nothing else needed.Put water in barrel first then mix can and sugar separate stir then yeast.3 weeks on shelf bottled good 4 weeks great it should be about 6.5 proof a lot of my pommy friends loved it and I served it in Ravenhead pints glasses we call them pots.Cheers
im off to purchase their complete kit tomorrow, they are on special locally and seeing that we are all currently in lockdown alcohol abuse seems to be the flavor of the month once again lol
Hi, I am new to home brew myself but I noticed that the label advised to use Coopers Brew Enhancer 2 or at the very least I thought you would need to add 1kg Brewing Sugar / Dextrose? Are you able to brew without adding either of these as I would have thought the ABV would not be very high? Just a thought!
We didn't add any sugar to the fermentation bucket directly only a little bit in each bottle, and also followed the container instructions - hope that helps.
hahaha - absolutely classic home-brew porn! messed up part 1 with no sugar (and that was sober!) ... and part 2 never even made it - presumably because after 40 pints, neither could be bothered to hold up a smartphone any longer, let alone upload a vid! this made my day. pleeeeeeeeeeeease make some more!!
Newbies browsing through: TABLE OR BREWING SUGAR NEEDED AT START, GOES IN FIRST AND DISSOLVE IT IN HOT WATER - 700g to 1kg depending on desired alcohol strength, clean everything properly beforehand, use filtered water or better to fill.
@@DanielJohnHowTo a lot of it that cannot be safely used in our western countries. Metal is one that we can and we use. What goes to landfill is the mix of plastic and cartons that are contaminated and no mecanical mean to separate it exists. What we cannot do it is use manual labor for separation, no brit would do that and brits have shown no interest in having low paid illegal immigrants to do the dirty jobs. I forsee UK drowning in a pile of dirt, like in Idiocracy movie.
a lot in the comments took it to the heart the lack of alchohol producing stuff. On the channel defense, the brewing kits are not like the wine kits, provided with all it needs, and sadly the instructions are not helpful. making beer is a little more complex than wine and I hate it that brewing kits would stick to NOT include at least a minimum of ingredients to make the bare beer liquid. The addins tend to make beer making a rather expensive hobby, as those are a lot of time overpriced especially in quantities for a batch. When bought in bulk quantities DME , maldextrose or brewing sugar can keep the price affordable, and the kits could very well include the necessary extra add ons but sadly they do not
@@DanielJohnHowTo I ordered some of this yesterday, the retailer and Cooper's website both recommend using their additive... or sugar in the initial mix, obviously you can read this a couple of different ways but I took it to mean you had to put something in there preferably their stuff. I've not got the tin in front of me yet so not saying you are wrong for not having added the sugar but every other kit I've seen/used asks for extra sugar apart from the just add water bag kits.
@@DanielJohnHowTo The can label showing the step by step instruction in your video indicated the pack of sugar / brew enhancer going in at the same step as the malt. You missed it.
Wow. That would be one very tasteless, lack of body and head structured beer. Though I am sure it was ok if you English lads like your beer warm n flat. :)
