This is why more designers are moving from Nike. Nike makes units. Adidas Puma will make for everyone. Wear them like them. Cool 4 months come back we have them. New Balance took first place from Nike. Don't they make Dad shoes for every month? Because we will buy them again use the old ones as the throwing the trash. Teens that don't work buy hype shoes. Old heads are still buying Jordan's. I have yet to meet a Kobe James collector.
This was a great discussion & a nice slap in the face to cancel culture, they be waiting for people to slip just so they can cancel. Like Lyna said, yall were never going to buy the shoes anyways lol. I can live with never owning OW or TS sneakers, but with Kobe being my favorite player of all-time, I really do want some of his shoes. As a hooper, the best hooping shoes I ever had were the Kobe 8s. I was still young then & didn't have money to buy a different model every year, so I started with the 8s. Also had the very high 9s but didn't like them for hooping. Kobe 4-6 are the most popular models, but I think the 7s had so many 🔥 colorways that people don't really talk about.
The thing is everyone is a reseller these days. The fun in getting in line, waiting, getting the shoe knowing the grail is yours for retail is gone. No 🧢
I was just thinking it's crazy how Nike lost Jerry, Virgil (RIP) and Travis in about the span of a year. their 3 most hype collaborators. But I do think people will eventually kinda move on from the travis thing, I hope he shows more concern publicly.
I was a manager of a champs sports when Kobe passed away, I remember his shoes sitting on shelves and on sale. The moment he passed so many people came trying to resell them
guys hear me out. don’t buy hype in general it’s real dumb paying 300 plus on some sneakers, I’ve done it in my youth and I learned. you could have the nicest shoes in the room and still get 0 bitches
And don’t waste so much time on the internet nun of this shit matters like fuck celebrity’s and there rich problems. Don’t ever compare yourself to others. The shit you see online ain’t so spectacular. go shoot your shot to the girl you like, we all gon die someday anyway. just be funny and interesting, you don’t need hype.
Agree with some but I buy sneakers for myself, my confidence, because I couldn't get them when I was a kid, etc. I don't buy them to get bitches lol and I definitely agree with not spending so much time online. I haven't posted in over 2 years, don't scroll, like, or anything and it's done wonders for my mental health
@@swine7749 I think in the end when it all boils down, everything we do IS to get bitches…it’s like the great Dave Chapelle said once, “men have nice cars not because they like nice cars but because men know women like nice cars….men are hunters, and the car is the bait-woman go ‘oh that’s a nice Porsche’…Gotcha bitch!…if a man could fcuk a women in a cardboard box, he wouldn’t buy a house”
I have always played in Kobe’s I feel they are just the best to play in and how I play also wearing them out of respect because the black mamba really did inspire me and others 🙏🏽🐍
@@kataraxo oh yuh she’s coo af, I’m just saying like it seems like forever since they last did a hypetalk, I think it’s just a nostalgia thing for me haha 😂
What the heck, everything you guys said goes against wearing TS shoes. 1) People don't wear Jordans because of MJ Then why did all the prices spike after the last dance? The lore and the "story-telling" definitely plays into the hype of a shoe. In this case, now you're showing support for negligent deaths at a concert. 2) Cancel culture is so forgettable Again. Deaths. People died at a music concert where the object of the event was to ENJOY YOURSELF. The goal of a concert is not supposed to be to throw you into a no holds barred death match while the the performer keeps going on like the guitar guy playing on the killer truck in Mad Max. 3) Hear them out and see them take responsibility We heard him out and he took no responsibility. 4) There are so many variables DEATH. This never happens to any other artist, imagine someone getting trampled to death at an Ariana Grande concert or even a rave. Woodstock was closed down because people died. 5) Dictating whether you wear shoes We aren't asking you to go outside barefoot. We're talking about having to choose another shoe from your collection which you might like slightly less. Can you please refrain from donning that SS service tunic? We know it looks great on you but, y'know, out of politeness.
Travis fucked up but it's people like you placing the entire blame on him. LiveNation & the fans who attended are also at fucking fault. Rest in peace to everyone who passed away but this exact type of comment is why people hate cancel culture, jesus
I own Travis Scott highs 1s. I also owned the 6s. When it happened , I was pissed. Pissed at the situation, at live nation for poorly handling the event, Travis symbols being satanic, everything felt wrong. I still feel Travis can’t do anything to fix the problem. If you wanna wear Travis it’s prob not gonna be an issue amongst other sneaker heads because we know the community loves the design. Personally, i can’t listen to his songs anymore.
Can the crew really say they can have an unbiased opinion about the Travis scott issue, since they dig his shoes so much? So in the end taking everything aside, it really is just the shoes (or the music) that make some of ya'll have that opinion about him. For all the people that never really had any thoughts about TS before this incident, I think most of us can at the very least agree that he's handling this like a huge jackass. So if that makes us not wanna support his products or the brands that he's associated with, that don't make us part of this "toxic cancel culture", that's just a regular consumer's choice. Ya'll can be a little honest with yourselves too, just say it like it is. It really is just the shoe then, otherwise you wouldn't have given a shit
for the Kobe nike Vanessa situation, I remember seeing a post of hers where she mentioned she wanted to honor Kobes wishes by making Kobe shoes more accessible and widely available but nike wasn't willing too do that
Virgil: If you already had them on consignment, then get rid of them. Don’t fake the respect and pretend to mourn. You already didn’t like them. So f it, capitalize off his passing. The off white sneakers were already more of a hypebeast status/collectors piece, even before he passed. Travis Scott: Only Travis sneakers I’ve liked are the PlayStation dunks and the fragment 1’s. Now, even if I could purchase them, I wouldn’t wear them. Though I have no problem if others do. At the same time however, keep in mind that you’re wearing sneakers from a guy who is a pos and doesn’t care about you and his fans. And this is coming from someone who somewhat liked his music. Rodeo and Day Before Rodeo are classics. Everything after, I wasn’t a fan of. Now, I get some what of a bad taste in my mouth, when listening to him. Kobe: Nike needs to pay Vanessa and keep producing them. I never rocked Kobe’s while he was alive, because I was loyal to LeBron . That’s not to say, I didn’t respect his game and his achievements. So now, I would’ve liked atleast one pair (favorite pair) of Kobe’s to pay respects. But resellers ruined it and I can’t justify spending that much on some Grinches.
Some sneakers are a work of art. some are more worth it than others. I’m saving up for those off white 2s, those are worth it and I’m also trying to get every Kobe I want before those prices go up soon. I have a display planned out for them. Just bought the Barcelona home 6s recently 🔥🔥🔥
Right around Christmas I was about to cop some DS Kobe Grinches for $700. Thought it was a bit high and I could get them some other time…lesson learned. If you see and opportunity and have the money, go for it. It was a size 12 btw 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
That ralph guy tripping balls…”you should pay that resale price”-WHHAATTT!?!?? Gtfo with that mess…also, sneakers aren’t art, they’re fcuking sneakers-they can be artful, but they still sneakers in the end and they were made to be worn
I can to agree with you Michael Romero. But reading that the Mona Lisa is just paint and paper. I guess we all should put the painting on our wall. Make a copy. Maybe buy one of the identical ones that cost less but are almost the price of college. Just a perception. Replicas of shoe are good. Some can't tell the difference from the real and fake. Also some valuable painting may not the real ones. But replicas.
Who is teaching economics to these people's? Jesus. We need help. A shoe dead stock. Is valuable with receipt and box. On feet losses value. No receipt, No box losses value. The Mona has been from house to house. City to cities. Country to countries. Museums to museums. Still holds value. 90's dead stock Jordan's fall apart. Car get maintenance. Can that be done with shoes?
@@kyle4251 you comparing the Mona Lisa to sneakers?!?…🤣…just stop 🛑 ✋…bruh 🤦🏻♂️…it is not perception. The function of art 🖼 is to express creativity or convey a message, feeling, or emotion (usually through sculptures, and paints but can also be through music and dance). That is it’s main function. Sneakers can be artful in their design (like a building or a car) but they have a main function (i.e. to protect your feet). Sneakers are not produced so that they may sit on ones mantle on display like a trophy. They are made to be worn. That’s not to say you can’t do that (you can do whatever you want with whatever you buy) but I just find it funny (and moronic) that people seem to be ok with doing the most logically absurd shit ever 🤣.
I disagree with everything they were saying about virgil and how its not that bad to inflate after someones death, whether your reselling a shirt, a pair of shoes, a funeral brochure or a painting, the intent is always the same, and the intent is to profit off of someones death, which is disgusting anyway you flip it or try to justify it
“There is no other sneaker to rock like a kobe” bro half of nike basketball looks like kobes like the pgs, giannis, kyries etc. They even got a giannis grinch colorway 🤦♂️🤦♂️ L take by dude
Regarding the Travis stuff, I like Yeezys and like Kanye music but I don’t care for him as a person. You can separate the art from the person IMO Even still, I wont be able to wear Travis stuff for a long time without feeling weird about it. It’s still Too soon.
The thing about not wearing Travis shoes is so dumb to me considering the vast majority of nike products are probably coming from child labor or incredibly unfair terrible working conditions. But because there isn’t one famous person to pinpoint blame on it has no traction as a real problem. Fucking sad.
Lol 😂 forreal I've said this before why would someone buy Dior 1s for 10k when you can get some for 150$ that look the same on feet ? No one's walking around with a blacklight saying ayy let me legit check thos lol
