I hate to say it, but Barbara is right: there is something unlikable about that guy. Kevin is right: that single cup technology would far out sell just his wine. Mark was right: this guy is just playing for drama.

The only thing I will say about the mark point is at the end of the day the show itself is for entertainment for us. And you can't tell me the way he was milking the screen time, when he grabbed one of those wine bottles and was pondering the decision increasing the suspense for us wasn't good entertainment. I think mark and the rest of the sharks and even some of you do have to understand that point.

Mark Cuban a billionaire who wants to own 10% of the company cannot give him a guarantee that he can sell his product in the stadium that Cuban owns. Sounds like a load of bull! They wanted to take the patents from him, and hang him out to dry.

You would 10x eventually (when he decides the go with the patent move), but you’d have to wait for him to follow his passion for however long that is. By Kevin’s own admission, this guy can make 500m whenever he wants. He wants an investor that will let him follow his passion UNTIL he’s built his brand to where it can survive licensing the patent. Someone will get rich off this and he doesn’t want to get bullied out of his dream.

I enjoyed him saying he wouldn't be coming back again. Finally, something he and the sharks can agree on. I liked his excuse of why the Sam Adams guy hadn't invested, saying the best advice comes from someone not invested in the company. Kind of seems like someone who either makes money or loses money right along with you might have more motivation to give you good advice than someone who doesn't stand to gain or lose anything.

I can see your argument about somebody being invested offering better advice but you have to remember that people who are invested in your company act in their own best self-interests while somebody who is not invested in the company can offer more genuine advice because it comes from a non-biased place I can see the argument being that because they are not invested they could give you advice either way and it doesn't effect them any but if they are a genuine person then they will offer genuine advice it is who you surround yourself with that matters the most

Disagree with most people that he was playing the sharks. He was always getting played by them for such a heavy discount on the business. He has the right to know what value they are adding. If mark couldn’t guarantee getting it in the stadium, Kevin was always after the licensing and Robert was just in for the ride, he is completely right to have his reservations.

u r totally right!!........SBEV (big one beverage company) adquires big part of the copa di vino stock for around 65 million dollars on 2021, James keep around the 41 % of the business stakes portfolio and actually he gets over 25 million (part of that he paid to Taxes office) when made that deal with SBEV.....he earn in good way more than that unfair close to 2 million valuation made by the greedy arrogants sharks....u are totally correct, kevin oleary only wants the patent to he get access and used like he wants, but the business was focus on the product, of course is a risk in a businees but the arguments should got real good foundation and the sharks wanna scam him..........besides the deal, he still keep partnership with SBEV working in the company with part of his family.....the company continues increas strong portfolio....

I do believe his company is worth a lot, but it's probably not worth having him be your boss. Especially for someone who has established themself like kevin, mark, and robert have. I would say they dodged a bullet pulling out like that at the end.

It looks like this guy's valuation wasn't crazy. Here's the update: Copa di Vino acquisition was acquired by SBEV for a total of $5,980,000 in addition to assuming certain liabilities, will mark the addition of a fourth premium brand to Splash Beverage's portfolio. But Kevin was also right. SBEV aims to introduce the bottle technology (patents) into their other products.

I’ve seen all of these sharks pay more for 5% of smaller less proven concepts and businesses. 600k for 30% really was just an insult. But I get it, the guy seems like a pain to deal with and that offer was them needing more equity otherwise all the headaches that would come from working with this guy just aren’t worth it. The sharks were trying to rip him off. He had already proven the scalbility of sales and they gave him an offer and half his company's valuation at the time. He recently sold his company while it was doing roughly $20 million in yearly revenue. He absolutely made the right decision not entertaining that offer. The sharks missed out on the easiest 4x ROI they ever had.

Really? The guy has 5 million in sales. The sharks wanted the company at 1/3rd of the price and they didn't even give him any guarantee. I'm happy that he didn't take their offer. I would buy this product.

However, the way that James Martin was hemming and hawing around not really looking to accept an offer that any of the sharks tried to make. It’s clear from his indecisiveness and looking at the Sharks like he just wants the airtime on national tv with that smug grin, he was never going to make a deal!

The sharks didn't want to acknowledge his success, neither did they want to give him a fair offer, neither did Cuban give him a guarantee that he can sell the product in his own stadium. James Martin can gloat because he proved himself, and he valued his company fairly. He should've been given a fair offer. 15% for 600k would've been a decent offer.

No he didnt take the deals because he actually doesnt own the patents. He was licensing it himself. He was full of it. Another company came in later on with the same product and when they asked they spilled the beans

There was definitely a deal to be done there, had he wanted one. He initially valued at 6m, but later made comments approving a 5m and then even a 4m valuation. Kevin valued it at 2.5m. Their 3 shark deal valued it at 2m. Perhaps they could have agreed on a 3-shark valuation at 2.5m (eg 600k for 24% instead of their 30% offer).

Am I the only one who thinks this guy was unfairly treated and mischaracterized both times he was on Shark Tank? He was pretty polite and turned out to be right about building his brand. He was genuinely trying to make a deal and they made insulting offers both times.

He countered 300k for 8%. They were undervaluing the company which was proven. The end result has proven that today. They should have offered 2.4 mill for 25% or Mark should have take 300k for 8 % by himself. The sharks wanted a discount.

In 2020, Splash Beverage Group acquired Copa Di Vino for $5.98 million dollars. The way this guy presented his company, you would think it's worth over $50 million! Either his evaluation wasn't right, or whoever he got advice from didn't do a great job with the Splash deal!

thats totally right....he still got the 41% of the company stock, still works so well in partnership in copa di vino with SBEV, and when sold part of the shares he earns more than 25 million dollars a real amount 10 times over that stupid unfair 2 million valuation made by the greedy arrogants sharks.....that was a business sealed on 2021 and today copa di vino got a strong portfolio and a great product catalog....

Man, Kevin was willing to let him keep 100% of his Copa company, whilst simply asking for 51% of a licensing deal. Man, I think this guy had too much to drink before coming into the tank, that was a great offer because he wasn't giving up one red cent of his actual company (which was pulling in bookoo buckz on its own.) Simply licensing out the tech and letting someone else pretty much handle all the heavy lifting who has access to all the major league players in this specific area of business, while he just sits back and collects a fat check... Yeah, I think this dude be hittin' the bottle too much lol He thinks success is found at the empty bottom of a bottle (or for his case, a cup lolz.)

I appreciate him for not letting them rip him off. I love shark tank but they were asking for too much. He proved his concept and they were still trying to push the old deal from an unproven company. However I agree with Kevin that he should license the tech to other companies. That's too much money to be left on the table. I think he's against doing that because he knows the big guys will wipe out his wine company with his technology. But he'd be super rich for doing nothing.

Painful! I'm certain this guy would have accepted the deal. Though he is quite strange, he's an intellect and moving at a slow place, thinking is what he needs to do. That being said, that trait doesn't always mesh with the sharks and this time he got bit!

i dont think so. I think the guy came to get a lot more money for a lot less equity. But the sharks tried to flip it and do the opposite. His backup game was always to make a dramatic exit that gets more customers and perhaps more investors that watch the show. I only wonder if the sharks knew this and decided to hold the episode until late in the year.
