Gotta share a story, Randy. My dad was a drywall finisher (not hanger) and he bought a 1984 K5 Blazer used in 1986 when I was 11 years old. He had it until he passed away in 2017. I tell ya, I'm watching this portion of the video of the GMC Jimmy with a heavy heart.
My ex step dad had an 86 K5 blazer. Black with black top just like this Jimmy. It brings back many many memories and fun rides as a kid. The difference is that his was a gas v8 instead of diesel. I'm only 23 years old but I have some great memories in old classics too!
Great video, enjoyed seeing the older GM vehicles. Chevrolet began using R/V to designate the trucks when the new for 1988 models were introduced and began using the C/K designation. Both were available at the time. R/V continued until all of the “square body” models were replaced with the newer body style.
Hi Randy...watch and enjoy all the videos. You might want to consider a spare jumper pack in your vehicle on the Copart walk- arounds. Keep up the good work.
@@ithwitt exactly. That truck he’s looking at is 80s. Before 93. So all the base models before 93 had carb and the “r” models had early examples of tbi before they started putting them in all the models
That r10 would be awesome I’m 24 and my first truck was a 81 c10. Great memories ran like poop but never left me walking. It meant a lot to me because I saved up to get it
Thank you for showing the Firebird, Randy. People like to claim the older cars are dangerous but that car protected the passengers pretty well, for as much damage that is there. Now, if the airbag didn't deploy in that crash, what would it take I wonder?
@@drewbenefield2001 pretty good. Was able to get the last building damaged from the flood knocked down and hauled away. Got a new driveway laid down so that's good enough for this year. When winter is over it's time to start a new garden and plant a new lawn lol
I have to agree. The white Chevy R10 would be fantastic content. It’s a clean slate and can be worked on whenever time permits. With some upgrades that could be a very pricey truck. The market on those body styles is climbing very quickly.
Randy, that Chevy Blazer/GMC Jimmy is going to be a great ground up rebuild. Clean the whole thing up, straighten out the wiring. It will be a blast and give you a ton of content for us to watch. The C10 that does not have an engine would be a possible donor that could work together. The 2015 Honda Accord is nice but you are right, these Japanese cars are getting expensive.
I'm glad you read the comments and took a second look at the Porsche and I actually have one of them firebirds there great mines got the 5.0 and 164k still going strong 💪 and whats good man keep up the good work 👍
Hello Randy hope all is well with you. The accord looks nice. It is barely broken in at 93k. Love love love the Jimmy! It has way more than 66k but who cares it will run forever with that diesel. Some of them came from the factory with a diesel! The old chevy truck is a lot of work, just drop an older small block in it, those headers will bolt right up. If you want to change the trans put an overdrive auto in it to get the best value if it does not already have one. Bad day for you for getting cars started. Good luck! Take care and God bless you all!
Hey randy, you should look into a UV lens filter and using the lens hood to cut back on some of the glare in the video, will make the image pop and give you that "cinema" like look.
You need that jump pack Unwrecked reviewed a few days ago. Charges up a capacitor inside from what's left of the battery voltage and will give a starting boost Can also be recharged form another battery first if the battery is dead in the to be boosted vehicle. SuperCap 2 12V No Battery Portable Jump Starter works on 7.0L gas and 4.0L Diesel engine. With built-in supercapacitor.
Randy, maybe the R -10 is R2D2’s truck? 🤦♂️ Thanks for the walk around. You may need to bring along 2 jump packs😳 Please give us a video showing what these things sold for. 👍
I say YES on the blazer that would be awesome to see on your channel and I say it wouldn't take to much to get it running and I say them switches went to a light bar and other off road lights
Good Afternoon My Good Bro Randy Lee Shear Of Auto Auction Rebuilds & God Bless You & All Of You're Whole Family This Afternoon & Evening & Thank You My Good Bro Randy Lee Shear Of Auto Auction Rebuilds
That Blazer looks like an OK start to a for a resto or an off-road build. I have a nice 89 Jimmy but if I didn’t have 4 other vehicles in my driveway I would consider bidding on it. Can’t have too many K5s LOL.
Hey Randy, I love Trans Am’s are used to have a 79. I loved it. Those Trans Am’s are ugly as can be. That’s my opinion keep up the great work have a blessed day by the way, I am a truck driver and thank you for appreciating us out here, working our butts off.
I'm pretty sure The firebird you showed in the beginning belonged to my mother back in the day my mom and sister were in the car and they were a little beat up but for the most part were fine
The Jimmy would be an awesome Westin Chaplin rebuild special!! Swap out the old 6.2l diesel with a dirty max or even Cummins swap!! The R10/C10 would be an awesome project truck for you and your boys.... especially since its a SWB and the SWB trucks are getting harder to find!! As for the Porsche... that key looks like a locksmith re-cut key and that thing may have been a repo!! Samcrac just did a video on an Audi TT he just bought, and it also had a re-cut key!! The key had to be reprogrammed and synched with the car again in order to start it... and with the Cayenne also being a german auto.. that may be the reason it doesnt want to start with that key!!
The diesel Blazer you should be able to get a wiring harness for it from LMC or some other magazine or company to rewire it all should not take much work I've done it
24:00 hey Randy, that 1985 truck is definitely a C10. When the GMT400 trucks started production for 1988MY the square bodies were still produced, hence renamed as R (2WD) and V (4WD). Pre 1988 square bodies are still C/K series.
That square body was a 1987 model which was the first year for the R/V designations. I am not sure if you know, but the new round body truck was introduced in March of 1987 so they were both on the lots at the same time, which is why the 1987 square body trucks used that designation. In 1988 the R/V series was only the Suburban, Blazer and the heavy duty trucks.
@@mexicanspec good to know, thought the 1987 square bodies were still C/K since the GMT400 trucks although produced from early 1987 were still 1988MY. I have an earlier K15, but i am no expert so I could've been a bit off
@@engineer_alv Since both trucks were on the lot at the same time, the designation had to be changed or it would have been really confusing for the dealers.
Honda and Toyota always have high resell value for a good reason. I personally have a 98 rav4 and I love it. Zero rust and runs and drives good. Stock headlights the are not fogged over because they used real glass. Its not my daily but trust it more than my Buick.
I worked at a Chevy store in 1987. Man it was nice to get into a brand new K5 and drive it. Even with that engine the Buy It Now is way out of line. The Copart listing does say it is a run and drive though.
was definitely a k5 blazer that had a 350 that motor is a 6.5 detroit out of a mid 90s 2500 it looks like they stopped at the same point just about everyone does the miscellaneous stuff its not far from completion great video randy
Chevrolet switched their normal naming in 1987 from the K series (K10, K20, K30) for four-wheel drive trucks and C Series (C10, C20, C30) for two-wheel drive trucks to the V series (V10, V20, V30) for 4WD and R series for 2WD (R10, R20, R30) This same change was made to the Suburban and Blazer and the GMC Sierra and Jimmy. GM only kept the V and R naming for five years, so any truck made between 1987 and 1991 will use these names (GM changed the naming in 1989 to the more modern 1500/ 2500/ 3500 naming scheme, so any 1989, 1990 or 1991 truck will be a V1500/ V2500/ V3500 or R1500/ R2500/ R3500.
Love the channel Randy, I was a mechanic ( known back then as a Mr. Goodwrench) at a Chevy dealer in New Mexico from 1980 thru 1990's and There was no such thing as a R10. Chevy Trucks where C10 Half Ton , C20 Three Quarter Ton, And C30 One Ton and so on, The GMC Pickups Where K10, K20 And K30 and so on. The Jimmys never came with a diesel, The Jimmy's came standard with a 350 cid and with a option for a 455 cid.
That is not true Phill. To differentiate the square body trucks from the new round trucks that came out in March of 1987, Chevy started referring to the square body as the R/V series. I also worked for a Chevy dealer in 1987 and that is what happened. You can't have two trucks on the lot with the same designation. Also, the C/K designation was 2wd and 4wd, not Chevy and GMC. The GMC trucks were C15 and K15 designations.
The BMW X5 was reported at a dealer auto auction in October of 2020 with the exact same mileage it has here, so it must have blown up or something and they towed it to Copart.
As the owner of a Maui blue 91 firebird formula, the one you showed made me sad. I think we have a few days of nice weather here, so I believe I'll get it out for a couple days before winter. The one you showed wasn't a formula, but it was a well cared for example of a firebird
Both of the squarebodies can be sold for thousands as they sit if sold in the rust belt. K and V are for 4x4 I.E K10 V10 C and R are for 2wd. I.E. C10 R10 They changed the letter in 1987 And a Jimmy is just the GMC version of the Chevy Blazer.
The ol Road Huggers! Used to burn thru those every couple months on my old 72 Cutlass in high school. They were cheap really hard compound non road hugging Discount Tire specials back in the late 89s/90s. No telling what’s wrong with that car if it’s been under water. Electrical problems as far as the eye can see.
Randy, in March of 1987 when the new C/K series came out, the started referring to the square body as the R/V series. The R was the 2WD and the V was the 4WD. The Buy It Now is $2700.00 on that truck with no engine. What kind of crack is that seller smoking?
Randy Todd off Unwrecked the utuber tried out a Jump pack that is based on capacitors it charges in minutes off any power source like a car battery once it gets to 100% you can jump another car even if the battery is only at 10 volts it sucks up the power then sends it back out at 12 volts he's got a link in the description of his latest video he flattened a battery so it wouldn't start the car connected the capacitor pack for a few minutes and it fired right up he was surprised how good it worked might be a good back up for your walk around videos keep up the good work PS give Todd a shout out he's a nice guy
Randy please make a video showing how to remove that starter lock that dealers install to prevent the car from starting 😭😭 Although I know that you have video of doing that but it's not that much clear so please make a separate video Love your videos buddy thank you for entertaining us Love from india buddy
From what I just read online, an r10 is the same as the c10 just fuel injected. ... the r10 (2wd) and v10 (4wd) are only 1987 models, they are identical to the c10 (2wd 1/2 ton) and k10(4wd 1/2 ton). 20 is 3/4 ton and 30 is 1 ton.
The Chevy R-10 was he last year of the square body Chevy trucks with a fuel injected v8. ...not sure if it was a 305 or a 350. Think it was just one year, the last year of that body style before they switched to the 90s body style where they started with the Z71’s. Not very common anymore. I think they were 88s.
R10 is the same as a C10, Chevrolet switched the letters because of something having to do with the new body style. In 1987, they were called Rs and Vs instead of the usual Cs and Ks. R10 meaning 2wd, V10 meaning 4wd.
