Thanks man for both your comments, I am planing to read a lot about acid recycling and how to treat the waste before I will start do anything. Same as I am learning now about most effective way how to get PM from electronic.
The haters are only other youtube video makers with fake accounts trying to discredit your videos so they can be the only ones posting vedios doing this sort of thing.
Big finger up. This is complete process of gold recovery. The first part is recovery of precious metals and second part is about the waste liquid. It Is very nice that you think about enviroment.
I live in a village my friend, I care the environment because my life depends on it. My municipality received this year's award as the cleanest municipality in Serbia, we want to stay that in the future ;)
OYSTER MUSHROOMS, and others will significantly help break down the toxic waste if you mix the waste with debris in a contained garden bed box after this process.
Perhaps we could all acid-stain our cement floors with this waste; seems like similar stuff that we use for $50/gallon. Method: grind/clean/scrub/hcl on cement unless new, then stain with sprayer, then scrub off with water and a floor spinner, then seal. Magic. And ooh lala such colors!
Hey what’s up while processing my silver contacts in AP solution I also put something in that I thought was silver but it might have been lead. The solution turns green and when I shook it it instantly turns clear again Did I fuck up the solution do I need to filter and wash it off and start again well what do I do now please help
Here in Seattle Washington USA there is a city run toxic waste recycle yard where you can drop off any toxic waste for free and they take care of safely disposing of it.
Nice video. I actually prefer to use aluminium as I have access to a HUGE amount of old cpu heat sinks for free. I don't drop them in though but instead I suspend them in the copper chloride. I dilute it too so it doesn't react as aggressively. Once it's all cleared of copper I'll filter and wash with hcl to remove any left over aluminium. I like to reuse the copper and I will melt into bar stock for later use. I haven't had to buy any metals for recovery use in a long time and in fact I have more copper now than when I started. The other reason I do this is my waste treatment process is a bit different as it's not just for reduction of toxicity but also to recover and recycle useful metals/compounds. Rather than soaking iron in the copper nitrate I add potassium chloride to convert to copper chloride and potassium nitrate. I crystallise out the KNO3 and use that to generate new nitric acid later on. I've saved quite a bit of $ doing this but it is a bit of a pain but I have managed to distil some 90%+ nitric acid and used it for other fun stuff. lol.. The remaining copper chloride is then either reacted with aluminium (as above) or I bubble air into it for a while to re-oxidise it and use it in place of AP for stripping gold foils. It's a bit slower but I don't have to spend as much on hcl or peroxide. Once I've done with the waste and have just an aluminium chloride solution I'll add in lye and reduce to hydroxide. Filter that off and I'm left with a dirty salt solution and aluminium hydroxide cakes. This all goes to the waste treatment centre and they're quite happy to get a (in their words) "pretty non-toxic" drop off.
I experienced the same thing at first but solved it by going slower. Firstly I dilute the copper chloride a bit to reduce the strength of the aluminium reaction and by hanging the heat sinks at the top level of the solution the boiling is greatly reduced. i do it in a 5 gallon bucket no more than 1/2 full so no splattering. Fumes can be bad tho so outside is best. I also find hanging the heat sinks helps the copper drop off and fall to the bottom of the bucket making cleaning easier later on. But really I only began doing it thins way because I have access to so much free aluminium and I find it makes cleaner copper. If you want to use the copper later I don't think iron is the best option.
Wow, amazing you are, all of you. Thank you for your love of chemistry and earth awareness. I will start with the iron method and am inspired to learn how to do boringoldwhite's method. Boring: get on youtoob and show the world of scrappers how to clean up our act! I will fly out and help videotape!
