Thanks so much it was actually someone on Facebook that recommended it for decorative solder, works so well! A bit of a learning curve in terms of the speed though.. 🤣
I couldn't find the link for the decorative soldering video that you mentioned that is more in-depth. Could you tell me where to find that video? Thank you!
Hi Amy. I’m a creative and crafter. I up cycle, thrift, paint furniture, just about everything except for stain glass. You’re probably wondering why I’m writing to you. I was given a large amount of copper foil that is used for Stainglass. Wondering if you have any ideas what could be used for I like your foil overlay with the soldering however, I don’t solder either. Just thought I would reach out. I really love the bumblebee that you made.
Since you're using glass glue would you be able to get away with using a sheet of copper with no adhesive backing, or would the edco foil with adhesive backing still be the best option in making these overlays? I've had so many issues making smaller overlays and the adhesive just failing when soldering so that glass glue idea seems superb!!
Aimee, Great video. Thank you. What is the gauge or thickness of the copper foil overlay? I assume you are using a Cricut Maker to print the overlay, yes? Thanks again. Rich
I have a glass box, that has copper foil around the edges. It has broken at one point so I would like to solder it back into place. The problem is that even over the current soldered spots, it is a copper color. How do I get the box the color of copper over the soldered spots?
@@tjbear4197 The heat from soldering the foil like this would most likely crack the glass underneath, so I use a tempered glass plate for building up the solder 😄
@BirchGlass ok. I recently made a Yoshi in my glass class, and I was hoping that I would be able to solder the pupils of the eus on (oval shapes), but I was told that it wouldn't work cos the solder would have nothing to hold on to (even though I talked about using some copper foil). I don't understand. I ended up gluing some black glass on for the eyes, but I am not happy with it, as pupils aren't meant to bug out of the eyes like that.
