What levels of copper in a tank is considered dangerous? Anything over 0?

How many time you used in your tank? Until stop to growing the dark blue color that maybe indicates saturation... I bought this week because my skimmer cable broke insulation and generated short circuit/arc tracking inside the sump. I've no copper test...but imediatelly change 30 and later 50% of water. And now waiting the result of CupriSorb and Purigen. I'm in the 3rd day after the tragedy.

Hi BRStv. So do UV sterilizers expose metals to water even if there is no damage in the UV sterilizer, like the one damaged exposing rust, shown in the video? Also, I thought the metal contamination can be controlled through regular RO/DI water changes!! Than you.
@BRStv

A properly working and undamaged UV sterilizer should not add metals to an aquarium. Water changes can help to control contamination, but keep in mind that a 10% water change only removes 10% of the contaminants. The rest remain in the aquarium.

But what about the copper binding with the rocks and substrate? Isn't that going to be a permanent problem?

Hi, brs. I live in the EU and can't buy any of you're products. I'm going to get a 30g aio from waterbox, what type of rodi do you recommend? And I'm not sure what kind of filter, light, wavemaker, etc. Would work best for it. It's not a big tank, but it's my first and I don't have a big budget. What kind of filter system do you think I would need? It is going to be a fish, with some soft corals to start with. Sorry, I'm asking so many questions, but I'm pretty new to the hobby. Hope you can answer some of my questions. And do I need a protein skimmer? And if what kind works best?

I used Cuprisorb to take out Tin and Aluminium. Tin is gone. Unfortunately the aluminum only goes higher. So I don't think aluminium is being absorbed by this.

@aior0s
@aior0s 3 года назад
@@aquaticnstuff7666 I did that actually. When I found out, ICP test showed Tin and Aluminium, I did 60% then couple days later another 60%. Put in cuprisorb for a month. Take it out. 50% water change. Wait 2 weeks. Sent another ICP. Tin is gone. And aluminium doubled

I'm surprised you had that experience! This is used quite frequently to remove copper from QT systems with success.
