Hi folks, in this video I will be building the 1/35 Copper State Lanchester armoured car. This build was great fun and the construction only took me 2 days! ( of course the painting took a lot longer)

Are these God hands sprue cutters really that good? I got cutters from Tamiya their famous fine sharp detail cutters and I dont belive the God hands are much better than other cutters by brands such as Mr hobby, Trumpeter, Xuron, Tamiya, Dspiae and Manwah. But I have never tried them so I cant say they are not.
@lpjmodels
@lpjmodels 2 года назад
They shred compared to my old xurons, instead of pinching the plastic like two blade cutters they work by chipping through against a flat edge, stressing the plastic less and giving you a ultra clean cut. I cant compare them to the others but I think they are great.

I think you sent me a link to VMS products to buy in UK before can you send me it again please now I feel is the time to start testing new paints n products I've a bit of everything! I've been wanting to try that chip n nick stuff for age's now they went off ebay for a while the owner got intouch with me about it last year hopefully there back! See the Russian one has the engine with it! Wonder why eh? I doneness sicaly version
@lpjmodels
@lpjmodels 2 года назад
Cheers Charlie ! I use www.scalemodelshop.co.uk in the UK for my VMS, the thing I like about the chip and nick is it's easily removable, I Don't use it in its proper way ( paint the whole area then chip) because I want a bit more precision. I didnt know the russian one had the engine, the Lanchester was their first armour kits and Edgar and the team have been trying to improve them as much as they can over time ( perfectionists I think, never a bad thing ) they are out of Latvia so no geopolitical russian connections. This woodgrain was a test to see if acrylic would give a good result, usually use oils but it came out alright I 🤔

I truly enjoy your videos. Thank you for the effort you put into the kits and the channel. The lower planks were the standout on this build. Those were some next-level finishing techniques on those! I want to ask… Is there a reason you post the video as a “Premiere” to watch for a later time? I honestly get quite bothered when I excitedly (and mistakenly) think you’ve posted a new video; only to realize I have to come back later. Sorry, but for me it doesn’t build anticipation, it yields frustration.

totally irrelevant question to your build, but i was thinking, how long will paints like Vallejo Models, AK, or Citadels last if they're properly stored? I just figure your a pro painter so you would have some inkling to this question.
@lpjmodels
@lpjmodels 2 года назад
Hey mate, I had vallejo paints from 10+ years ago that I just finished with, citadel I'm not 100% on but if they have been opened maked sure that lids pressed down tight because they are a pain. But yeah a long time ( for me in the sw U.K anyway)
@MF-kv8cn
@MF-kv8cn 2 года назад
@@lpjmodels thank you for the reply. any thoughts on the new AK 3rd gen? i recently got a whole bunch and i like how they don't separate. You know how when vallejo paints aren't touched for a while, a different color ring starts forming around the top edge of the bottle, well AK doesn't do that. Also all their colors whether light or dark are the same viscosity whereas Vallejo light colors are runny like Fanta soda, and darker colors are more stiff like Nutella. I think they're a better recipe than Vallejo so im hoping they last even longer. Any thoughts? I know you used some new AK Figure line paints in the motorcycle build. Btw i like how you paint figures.

That's a great build and paint job. It looks really good. I like the CSM kits but agree with comments below about the lack of any interior and also in this case the engine. When you were doing the chassis it looked like the bottom of the engine was moulded to the floor and I don't think the floor would have extended into the engine bay, there may have been some plates mounted under the engine. I suspect CSM didn't want an empty engine bay to be seen from under the model.
@lpjmodels
@lpjmodels 2 года назад
Thanks Allan, one of the things I liked about this one was the lack of interior, it just made the build quick and enjoyable, as for interiors ,I love it when they are offered ( and most csm kits do have them ) because its great to have that option. But I don't want to do an interior every time . I wouldn't be surprised though if Copper State revisited this one and made a full interior variant.
@allanrichards6448
@allanrichards6448 2 года назад
@@lpjmodels I have made two RFM kits with full interiors and it is a real challenge how to display the model to show the interior. With the Jagdpanther I cut loads of holes in the hull walls and made it look like a display in a museum. With the Sherman I raised the outer hull on pillars. If you don't do something to show off the interior there are far too many "but I know its there" details

I have been considering starting this kit my self and thinking about how to colour and weather the underside and running gear. My view is that leaf springs and other metal components underneath very soon get all their paint chipped off and end up acquiring rust very quickly. Then there are areas where there would be oil and grease stains from leakages. But still rusty.

Amazing job! Personally I don't like the model itself, but somehow you have used your amazing skills and now I love the kit :) And the wood-looklike piece itself deserves a appreciation!

Thanks Jack, yes I have done a few but I get very burnt out. I have an idea for one in the future though

A perfect lesson in model making. Take an unusual model, build it, add colours and shading that give it "weight" and "presence"then go one step further by adding those small items like tarps and cloths and give the model life. It doesn't get better than that. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍

did this kit also. Usually don't get silvering but got a lot with the cardograf decals used set/sol over semi gloss lacquer after 1 week after gloss. Any tips ? thanks

Are you soaking them too long ? In my experience it's a lack of adhesion. Just dip them for a second or two then remove. If you leave them swimming the adhesive can just melt off. Micro set doesn't really add any adhesion either. As it's just acetic acid and water ( I think ) vms decal set or Mr hobby setter both have extra sticking power if that's any help !

@@lpjmodels soak in room temp for about 10 seconds then micro set, decal slides freely, then set un paper towel then on model. push down with brush, then roll-blot with cue tip, then micro sol. looks great then a speckled appearance under decal. don't know
