Copper to the Moon! Don't Sell your Scrap Copper

Scrap Copper Prices are rising and scrap yards want your copper very much. Why? Most likely because they want to hold it to make even more money from it as copper supplies are getting low, demand is ever increasing and it takes years for copper miners to increase production.
In the next couple of years, expect copper prices to rise sharply so I suggest if you can afford to stockpile your copper wire then do so.
Keep Scrapping & Have Fun!

I have thought for many years that someday we will be mining the landfills for metals. The one near us is growing by leaps and bounds. No one is required to separate the trash as to what can be recycled and what can't unlike some other countries. The landfill near us also has a composting facility for lawn debris, tree debris and dimensional lumber.

that's already happening in places like kenya and other places. there are interesting documentaries you can watch about it here on youtube. it's quite a shame that countries like uk and america transport all most of their plastic and such for cheap over there, ending up costing lots of lives.

Greetings from snowy northern Sweden. I put some copper aside when I strip wire or crack torroids and transformers for stockpiling. Same with gold pins and crystals and chips. the rougemillenial Thank you very much for the nice massage, you should buy a lottery ticket as lucky as you were with the chemicals. Went to the scrapyard today and it was rouphly USD 96. I don't know where you live so I did the math. Nice going on the transformers, I think.. My memory fails me sometimes. The other day I got 8 light fixtures and this afternoon I ran across 4 vintage kompressors, big heavy cast iron things so that's going to be fun taking apart.

Ben you are totally RIGHT! The electric motor (or more importantly battery tech) is here to stay. I have 2 e boards and an ebike and it's only a question of time before i switch my car. Solar installations will all require more copper or koppa as you say ;) for wiring. Tesla and Panasonic are pushing hard to provide enough batteries to make all this possible. The next bottleneck will be copper. It's gonna rise for sure. I'm not a "scrapper" (yet) but i think its great how you are informing us all. Cheers man. I'm gonna rip my old tv apart now and stockpile. so i guess i am about to be a scrapper thanks to you! :)

7000# of pure copper ingots take up 12.5 cubic feet of space. There must be costs to store and insure this. Better to sell and buy gold. That would buy about 15 oz of gold, easy to store in a safe deposit box.
@silverstackerforlife1728
@silverstackerforlife1728 5 лет назад
well that is enough to get you a lot of silver and gold i would sell and buy some gold and silver. cooper is not that rare to keep people think it junk the trow it a why here cuss the think it not worth take in but there are people here that get it and turn it in and buy silver and they might buy gold just on what the got for the copper i now when i get like 20 pound i go get some money for it and but a few oz of silver with silver and gold have better shot at shooting the moon and during bad time no one will want your copper unless it the government so the can make stuff with it and they might give you a slip to go but food with it lol

Also something to add Ben. Graphene, which is the new wonder material of the future, has only one true mass production method as of only a few months ago. Due to how much potential that material has it may replace the recharge material as it is carbon and more available, however it will still need copper for mass production.

And something to keep in mind, that aluminum dross isn't worthless. It's primarily alumina (aluminum oxide), and that's what refineries use to produce aluminum from ore. Some scrap yards will take it straight forward, and I know a few guys who toss it in with their sheet scrap without issue.

Ben you have some interesting comments. I live in Tucson, Arizona, USA. There are new copper mines being developed here, right now, as well as in Australia. I used to work in mine research and development. One of the things you might find interesting is that a lot of copper mines mining expenses are covered by copper byproducts. Gold and Silver are common byproducts that greatly reduce the cost of mining copper, and there are a lot of other minerals as well. Since you mentioned our President, he has raised import duties on copper, making it cheaper to mine here. I expect copper to go up over the next two years. Not because of running out, but because of higher overhead. I believe it will go up maybe 25%. I enjoy your videos.

The United States is self sufficient in copper and on top puts out around 8% towards the rest of the worlds demand for the highly abundant metal...Ithink this dude just likes to hear himself talk.... 1/3 of new copper products come from recycled material..Alaska also has solid mountains of copper still......just look at the kennecott mine in AK.. J.P. Morgan built a train track that had to cross over 1000 rivers and gorges just to get to kennicott mine (literally a solid mountain of high grade copper).. I grew up there and it’s a tourist spot now....but back in the day it was quite the northwest boomtown full of wealth, miners, debauchery, and coppah.... salute

If you're running out of space or never had any to begin with what you can do is cash in your copper and buy silver ingots with the money. Think of it as "compressing" your metal. You're trading the second most electrically conductive metal for the most electrically conductive metal. And at roughly one hundred times the price it takes up one hundredth the space. And you're still satisfying the need to have some of your assets in the form of a chunk of metal. The only possible negative is if the price of copper goes up and silver stays flat or goes down. I personally don't think that's very likely. Half of the silver produced today has an industrial destination. Cell phones, solar panels etc....

5 year copper, down 5%, 5 year silver down 50%
@drmodestoesq

Excellent point. Let me be the Devil's advocate here. 50% down could mean 50% up. Meaning that it's undervalued. However........if you've followed the metals for as long as me and you have you know that anything can happen......anything. I personally have been doing what you have. I just throw the stuff in pails and wait.......and wait....It went up to 4.50 American a while ago. I'm betting it will again. And then some. Fun fact. The word nickel means devil in German. The word cobalt means goblin.

Should we get the cash for copper and invest that cash or should we save our copper for a future date when copper skyrockets in price? Which would be more profitable?

bobcanbeatyou I own a HVAC plumbing business which is located beside my brothers electrical business, I get an abundance of scrap copper, brass, aluminum, . Biggest problem with holding on to it is it takes up so much space.

AL Can sell it and buy gold and silver mostly silver
@al1383

bobcanbeatyou Sounds logical, thanks. I was thinking I wanted to melt the copper in to blocks and store it under my house until retirement or a rainy day. But the cost of propane or oil, cost of refinery and molds, the fact I don’t know how, and more importantly the time it takes to do it just isn’t feasible or economical. I now need to make myself stop blowing the “free money” on crap and put it all towards silver and gold!

The reason the gold rams are only $12 a lb in the US is that the gold CT is only 12CT it's not pure gold 24 CT if it was then yes you would get $300 a lb. No computer company use 24 CT gold in any of there computers.

@graciadams2342 4 года назад
Yeah it would wiegh literally a ton or 2. Ever pick up a large jar of pennies. It's heavy as f***. Now if it was just the bed frame made of copper that would still be Hella heavy but you could do that

Hate to tell you my friends but if you melt your copper you're copper you no longer are allowed to sell it as copper to scrapyards they do not know what you added to your copper so they will not give you copper price
