She is more concerned about the thieves than bringing justice to the victims. She is in the wrong line of work. I feel sorry for the citizens of Vermont, they deserve a better State Attorney, one that will work for the victims of crime instead of making excuses for the criminals.
What is the total cost (soup to nuts) to arrest, prosecute and jail an individual? Compare that to the wholesale cost of the blankets they stole. It's simple economics, it costs a ton of money to pay a cop, a judge, bailiff, correction staff, parole officer, etc. compared to $20 for blankets.
I remember when there was a petty soft with a prior and you got. That was a felony and you had to do some serious time. This fit knowledge making these people mentally nuts. We need to start locking some of these people up.
The county's State Attorney, Sarah George, is obviously a democrap saying putting people in jail doesn't fix the problem. BUT IT DOES! It stops that thief from stealing more from those businesses because they would be in jail. It works for the stores, the victims. That what she should be concerned with instead of being concerned about the criminals. The justice system is here to bring justice, NOT let shoplifters go because they have an addiction or because they don't have a permanent address. Unbelievable.
"Peoples basic needs need to be met".... how about some personal agency/accountability. You cant help someone that isnt first willingnto help themselvez
