To be fair I think the GTA cops are actually meant to be more aggressive since the entire GTA series is a parody.

Mafia games always had better police AI.

Kinda baffling how GTA games gets a lot of praise even though they have the worst AI and Depressing how Mafia isn't get any enough even though that's the how police AI would actually work.

This one time when I was playing Mafia 2, one of the micks that set Vito's house on fire found himself in a infinite loop of bribing the police. I love it when the game's police will police itself & not be entirely focused on the player.

In GTA V the police must had a taser Just a person that punched the other one and the police kill him with a shotgun wtf

I like how in mafia 2, if you steal someone’s car and they rip u out of it to get it back, then police show up, the police try to arrest the person who’s car you stole haha. Logic.

mafia 2 is one of the most attention to detail game I've ever seen.

Mafia 1, Mafia 2 and Mafia: Definitive Edition share similar cop AI. Speeding, running red lights and crashing would prompt police to pull you over and give you a fine. Bumping into a cop prompts him to demand your ID. Sadly, a cut feature from Mafia 2 would have let you forge a gun permit, and having a gun visible in front of cops would have them demand to see a permit. If you had it, they wouldn't arrest you. There's a great mod for GTA V which allows cops to pull you over for various vehicle laws like red lights, speeding, mobile phone use etc. What's even more impressive about Mafia cop AI is that they treat civilian NPCs the same as the player. If a civilian NPC car knocks someone down or crashes, cops will pull it over and give them a ticket/attempt to arrest them (then accept a bribe). Not to mention, in Mafia 2 (and to some extent Mafia 3), cops will seal off stores that get robbed or have their shopkeeper killed inside. They'll be seen inside investigating and then later crime scene tape will be over the door or a crime scene sign.

Mafia 2 is the only game that makes us maintain our speed in the road, but in the game, i just break the rule, i just looked at the radar to see nearby cops

I love how he put the gun down, he paid the officer, the officer left and he just grab the gun he put on the ground before and keep it like "No Way I'm gonna lose this" XD.

in GTA 5 you can look a a police officer and get shot yet walk free with a Rocket Launcher *logic*

It’s kind of sad that a small game series like Mafia perfected the police response system, while a huge game franchise like GTA doesn’t have police that respond appropriately to crimes.

I have played both Mafia II and GTA IV. Best games ever. Actually Mafia II is like real life because we have to pay fine if we overspeed and we have a option for limited speed. GTA series don't have a limited speed option.

The answer is clear without even watching the video if you've played any of them. Mafias cops actually had some effort put into them. GTAs cops were an after thought that just try to harm you.

Mafia II and I are my all time favorite games.. Mafia 1 is the first game I have ever played and I fell in love haha. I recommend it to everyone. However I believe that GTA simply doesn't aim for this realistic approach. The police shoot you because it's "funny" in a sense that the whole GTA world revolves around overall insanity: crazy people, weird physics, hilarious encounters. Police shooting on sight is probably simply a feature and not a lack of development
