Hello friend, here is how to copy transparent pixels between layers in g... QUICK I DONT HAVE ALL DAY TELL ME NOW HOW TO DO IT. Jeez ok hold your horses just use the alt click thing on that channel layer thing after you add both pictures in one project OK? Watch the video if that explanation is not good enough pfsh.

I do not comment often but this tutorial is so easy, straight to the point and very detailed, so that even a noob like me can understand it, that i had to. Kudos to you.

Thank you very much. I used this in a Gimp -> LightRoom -> Gimp workflow. Image was created in Gimp, then edited in Lightroom, and then transported back to Gimp for further edits. Problem is, LightRoom doesn't transfer the alpha channel. So after returning to Gimp, I re-added the alpha channel from the original image, following the steps in your tutorial. Works great!

It selects (or activates?) the clicked layer mask in this case

Cool. Needed to edit the Alpha Channel on a .TGA for a NIF model on an old computer game. 🙂

yeah I thought so at first but now I got used to it - rightclick layer and add mask x2, alt-click both, ctrl+a ctrl+c, click other layer, ctrl+v. I do it rarely enough so it's ok. I just hope I won't forget it until next time.
