Now that is a strong sci-fi episode, it would have been for any show, but his story fits SG very much. You see why Teal'C is a favourite of mine, and lots of other fans?

NO Cassie did not go to Canada, she ought to give that as a place of birth, as its harder to verify. She is living nearby... maybe for reasons ? 0.o

Always an interesting episode for me. I can never fully decide which side I'm on. Where does personal responsibility begin and end in such situations? "I was just following orders" is never a pass for every action. Nazis come to mind IRL. Torture, Genocides, etc But then again, forgiveness is a beautiful thing and people can change, as this episode shows.

It wasn't just him following orders. He was changing things from the inside, doing what little he could when he could. Sure, he did do horrible things, but some were better off with him being in his position rather than someone else being there. For him, the Train Switch scenario wasn't just a thought experiment.

Forgiveness and Teal'c are.... major spoilers. But as a German, I cannot take "I was just following orders" as anything but moral cowardice and backside covering (if it works; the at attempt would be illegal here and *not* rejecting an order to commit a felony (to copy US terms) is a felony in itself).

Fun Fact! SG1 Cosplayers have a very hard time getting show accurate clothing. You'd think it would be easy since it's all just military fatigues & uniforms, however in the early '00s the Air Force updated its uniforms and the companies that made the old stuff stopped so they could make the new stuff. What cost the SG1 costume department $80 is now unobtanium.

I usually skip cor-ai because it makes me sad, but even I'll admit it's a good episode in S1. It's the first ep that really kinda hits you and you realize actually SG1 is gonna hit hard sometimes. It's gonna be about something more and it's gonna get really real. I'm watching another reactor on YT and he's in S10. Going from S1 to S10 is crazy lol

The Cor-Ai part is interesting, but the real showcase is the whole team's dynamics on display.

One of the more realistic episodes, that with the US military does its best to prevent one of their soldiers (which Teal'c really isn't) from facing justice, checks out. Only didn't threaten to invade the place because they went for threatened exfiltration and the accused war criminal wanted to face it (and had an actual reason).

Not a favorite episode of mine. Might be good on a first watch, and it's ok for a season 1 episode, but it's just fine. I don't usually like rewatching this one.

Personally one of my favourites. But I’ve always found that season 1 of SG1 is like that…most fans seem to have a very different bunch of favourite episodes. As the seasons go on, I’ve always found that there’s a bit more consensus among the fan base when it comes to favourite episodes. But season 1 is a bit unique in that regard. A lot of different opinions.
