Coral's death was one of the quickest villain humanizations I've ever seen. She wasn't even a bad person, just someone who was put into a life or deth scenario where she had to fight for her own survival. The way she died shows her remorse over the deaths and ultimately how sick the gamaes are.
@@xdaisy3408No it doesn't??? A trained killer who killed multiple tributes they didn't give a shit about. And you think they are changed from one line about them throwing a tantrum?
I don't think Coral was evil but she certainly scared me. She's probably been through horrendous things too and is bravely fighting for her family and friends to have food. She is fierce and has her own struggles in her district. I thought she was an awesome character.
She's the type of scary we see in a hardened soldier or survalist. They aren't bad people but they're cold, calculating and willing to do what it takes to get out of the situation. Unlike some of the careers we see later down the line like say Clove, Coral didn't take pleasure in what she did or see it as an honor, she was just willing and able to do it and as we can see she did not like doing it and wished didn't have to.
@@l.tc.5032she was evil bruh lol. she was definitely not cold or calculating whatsoever she was stupid and sadistic she didn’t care about what she was doing until she was about to die. that last line was just a cheap way to make the audience forgive her lol. she went from wanting to kill lucy gray to begging her for help because she realized she wasn’t strong enough to win.
I know she was brutal, but I never really rooted for her death. She was angry, but couldn't take it on the Capitol, so she had to use that to try and survive, because no one would show her compassion. Not saying it excuses her, but to be happy for her death would be wrong.
@@eebbaa5560 she only seemed to be like that against Lucy, Capitol's sweetheart, and people who might prevent her from getting back home. And there really was nothing to be gained there for being merciful.
She's right its not fair she played the game the way they wanted she gave them kills and thrills a good show and that wasn't enough for them the capitol just killed her like she was nothing coral is not a bad person she says i can't have killed them all for nothing meaning she did hold some level of guilt She's still a victim like every other kid in the Arena.

Did anyone notice how Coral spoke and treated Tanner and Treech vs Mizzen? She treated Tanner and Treech rather harshly while with Mizzen, she spoke to him in a rather kind manner like he’s her younger brother. Sure, they’re District partners, but it was just something I noticed.
I hear in the books, her relationship with Mizzen was more developed. I wished we could have seen that. I love to see sibling bonds (it's implied that's how they saw each other) even more than seeing shipping. I bet in the movie she was heartbroken when she saw him die and she was forced to accept there was nothing she could do for him.
@JabamiLain Not even close actually, in the book Mizzen outlasts Coral when the snakes get released(it’s a smaller cage and only her and Circ die) Coral takes 6th in the book, Mizzen makes it to 5th about a day later before Teslee from district 3 kills him
@@JosephTheAlbanianOakmanDistrict 1 trubutes literally arrived wearing cricket whites. This is before the career training academies were set up. Coral and Mizzen demonstrate more combat ability than any other tribute in the 10th Hunger Games.
@@AmeAmv even if mizzen was strong the duo from 1 or 2 would have finished them so easily, I don’t know why 1 and 2 would be shot on sight if they had such loyalty to the capitol during the dark days.
What I don't understand is that there were 4 of them. They could have easily opened up that crawl space and gotten Lucy Gray. She was unarmed too, so she posed little to no threat.

Coral is like school bullies. They pick on the weaker as a coping and survival mechanism. When she was about to die she realised she became an awful person for nothing 😢
@@miss.mirana4061 no. She was overly violent, smiled while genuinely threatening people with death, and killed Tanner for no reason. People over-sympathise with her
@@Inevitable934 well sorry for sympathizing with a teenager who was kidnapped from her home and treated inhumanely with her only way out of this hell hole being that she has to kill and who in the end felt guilty and regretful that she had to kill and that it was for nothing the hunger games are very cruel and they Force children to do horrible things even if they don't want to stop calling her a villain we don't know much about how she is outside of the games you can't judge her for when she's forced into a awful situation none of the tributes are evil they are just children stuck in a kill or be killed situation her final line shows that she didn't want to kill but she was forced into
@@miss.mirana4061 I can judge her. And she does want to kill. In the books, she didn't. She was good in the books, but in the movies, she didn't work as well as Cato. I won't forgive her for killing people. Especially Tanner. That was pointless. She is aggressive and sadistic, and she doesn't earn absolution by simply saying she regrets her actions. She is a bad person. I tryied to sypathise, but we wasn't exactly a pitiful character. I felt much more sorry for HER victims than her herself. Because this movie needed a Cato, slash a main bad antagonist in the arena, and Coral was picked for it. I don't forgive her, and although I tried to feel bad for her it didn't feel right.
@@Inevitable934 and I will still defend her because she literally had no choice, anyone she killed their blood is on the capitol 's hands before it was on hers she wouldn't have had to kill them if not for the capitol shoving her into the hunger games I have said it before and I will say it a thousand times she's a teenager forced into a awful situation and had her personhood and choices stripped away from her you're forgetting that the capitol are the true villains they are the ones who force children to kill and kidnap them from their homes and dehumanize them for their entertainment
I plan on viewing this eventually. It seems like a great film. Can anyone clarify what what coral said after 2:12. It isn't very clear. Perhaps I'm the only one but I can't hear what she is saying. I did get the part where she said this isn't fair. However, what does she say exactly before that. I think she says one word and then a sentence after that. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
Not a huge fan of her adaptation in this movie, the scene where she kills Tanner in frustration just feels so out of character compared to what actually happened in the book
Yea. It emphasizes a bit on her character. She didn't like how Tanner danced around Lamina's body after they killed her. It shows that she didn't enjoy killing the other tributes
Not a bad actress, but she really gives more teen bully than alpha killer tbh. I can see her spreading a nasty rumor about Lucy Gray, not going ham with a pitchfork, intimidating three suckers into following her lead.
Well, they are just kids. She was bold and had leadership qualities. Plus she was pretty good with a weapon. The careers were gone so she was kinda the best to team up with. So perhaps a teen bully placed in a kill-or-be-killed situation? Teams are also very valuable in this situation. Her confidence probably would’ve persuaded me too. I feel like it’s fitting that she doesn’t give off alpha killer vibes because she is just a kid. It makes sense in her final moments that the facade she had vanished. She was just a confrontational, angry, rough girl trying to survive and get back home.
to be fair though that just humanises her more knowing she is just a teen trying to fight for her life and then when she gives the Capitol exactly what they want she’s killed off tragically anyways
@@marie-zb5bh She did not seem bold nor like a leader in this movie. That’s the problem. If anything she comes off cowardly and petulant, which is why it’s so confusing how quickly she takes to the arena. It fails to humanize her in my eyes because her delivery comes off as clunky and cheesy. The portrayal is much too quaint for what the role demands. She was miscast
OMG my girlfriend I just threw up, cried, rolled around on the floor, jumped out of a window, and went tumbling into the street Coral my love the love of my life u deserve sm better seriously how can anyone hate her or just any tributes from the hunger games they are just kids fighting for their life and they are all victims why dont u go hate coriolanus snow instead
I think Cato works better than Coral, Cato has been brainwashed into believing the hunger games are awesome Carol hasn't so her eagerness to kill makes less sense
