It's great to see Jenny still going great after all these years backed royal athlete at 66/1 and won the national that year god bless Jenny love her to bits .
2 absolute legends Jenny trained in an era when it was male dominated and beat them over and over again. Latterly paving the way for many future female trainers. And as for John he really was truly the greatest. His style of riding still outshines many of today's jockeys and no jockey ever presented a horse to a fence better than him.
Terrific this. A superb trainer. You can see and hear her attention to detail. Very important. She listens to jockeys. I know some trainers now take the easy option. Loved the story about her dad fantastic. Burrough hill lad along with desert orchid and carvills hill the three best staying chasers of the 1980s. Hard to split them at their very best. More of these shows please. Greetings from Ireland
So amazing to listen to them in discussion. Have met each of these champs at various times and been to Cheptow countless times. My horse was the last horse Fred Winter ever touched.
There was no one better at getting horses fit after injury. A great trainer who has a wonderful sense of humour! John Francome started represented Uk show jumping as a junior.
Wonderful! I SO miss the 'tackroom chat'. such a thrill to have three of the best remenising together about the old days. 'Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end...........
Great trainer (the Queen of Aintree), knew her horses. I rode out for her during the winter of 1990/1991 (Operation Desert Storm was on in Kuwait), this was when Toby Tobias and Wonder Man where some of the stars, as well as Garrison Savannah who won the 1991 Cheltenham Gold Cup and finished 2nd in the Grand National the same year, her son Mark Pitman rode him. Mrs Pitman had 4 runners in the National that year, the 3 others were Golden Freeze, Abba Lad (who had been one of my 3 horses to muck and tender, I left i February) as well asTeam Challenge I. Even the future GN winner Royal Athlete was there.
Fabulous interview. A women that knew her horses inside out. Worked for John in the 80s and he knew his stuff as well. Three fabulous people in that room. So so happy and honoured to still be in constant contact with you. A true natural great friend..
Good to see John Francome here. The great hurdler Sea Pigeon is one of my favourite horses. Whenever I see John Francome I'm reminded of the day Sea Pigeon won his second Champion Hurdle. Francome gave him an absolute peach of a ride that day. One of the best rides you'll ever see. And when John Francome got off him in the winners enclosure he said 'He's a Rolls Royce of a horse'. I've never forgotten what he said about one of my favourite horses.
Brilliant brought back many great memories for me when I worked next door at nick gazelles both wonderful horse people through the mold away when thay Jenny& John. John snaith 🤓 x XX.
It was always my wish to meet Jenny from as far back as Burrough Hill Lad. Since then I have had the honour of Judging with her alongside David, her husband and Joe, Jenny's brother at some of the big shows. Her knowledge is incredible and her sense of humour is great. She often used to talk about her Dad, George, with such affection. Let's hear more tales from these lovely people. P.S. What's happened to John's curls??
We used to be able to hear JP shouting in the mornings and that was after she retired!! A true great of the sport who overcame deep rooted sexism and won it all. Great book if you can find it.
We need to see more of Jenny and gear her no nonsense memories, she was always my favourite trainer, if you met her at the races she took time to talk even to a young racegoer like me. We don't see enough of Johnny Francombe either. Great interview from Mick.
Realy like to see Jen talk about Garry was an absolute superstar who slaughtered a stacked field of multiple G1 winners in his gold cup. Best from UK and France @ 16/1 Woop-Woop
She might be a Great Trainer and looked after her own horses,What happened with Carvills Hill in the Gold Cup? His Welsh National win has to be one of the Best ever performances
What a fantastic interview 3 legends altogether we don't see enough of this in racing these days the knowledge these have is incredible and have been there and done it jockeys and trainer
i remember she twatted a jockey for over use of the whip on her horse , cant fault her achievements in the game absolutely deserves all the plaudits but dont forget the jockeys, without them and the great rides they gave them to win those races
Hi Jenny I remember seeing you when you won the Grand National you wanted to give me your autograph and I said Jenny is only a woman like me but now I wish I had your autograph
Worth watching that 1983 race. Francome never has to bother him, won with plenty to spare. I'm reckoning the prize money wasn't the only income helped pay the bills that day.
Could watch this all day long ,love Jenny burrough hill was my fav horse and jf greatest jump jockey ever . I had £500 to win £200 on the lad in king george ,super ride by franks .I bought a sheepskin coat and called it my burrough hill lad coat .I ran a national raffle ,3 tickets left 50p a ticket my daughter aged 8 said i will have one ,she picked out corbiere and won £20 boy was she shouting him home .Finally i had £5 at 5/4 news king ,fred winter trained at sandown ,3 horse race ,clouted several fences and franks still got it up to win .THANK YOU .x
The Jenny Pitman Show! What a star she is. Never stuck for any answers to a question or ten that you ask her. As knowledgeable as it’s possible to be. And there’s the finest horseman in the world with John Francome. Easily the best stylist and motivator of horses bar none. And Mick Fitzgerald managing to keep Jenny on a tight rein when she was losing her cool with him for not wanting to come down and school her horse! Another great jockey was Mick. But neither John nor Jenny mince their words so it’s a guarantee of a good interview. Great stuff 👏😋
She was a great train but the stable was full of gambling owners .So unfortunately would be seen as a crooked stable today.Tjey had to do this to keep their owners but the betting public were the ones who paid the price .
am only up to ' sending to Lambourn & discovering the 10st .4lbs BUT being a similar age & having watched both her & John Francombe on my so avid live of Steeplechase can relate more than I imagined because my late Husband & myself emigrated to.a job here looong ago & soom began working for ourselves with $2,000 to our names . My dream.was to.t breed & train Steeplechasers & I did ride Pt to Pt.& train.a lovely Steeplechaser but mainly bred trained , rode my own & others Eventees , a few Dressage many Hunters . Loved putting himself & rider together We also bred some incredibly naughty but accomplished Welsh Sec A Xes to.our Polish Arabs &. to clients mares . This us absolute poignancy especially " balancing the books ' thank you , super Christmas present
I have hated jenny pitman since 1992, the favourite for the gold cup that year was a horse called Carvills hill, he liked to be in front , she had a horse in the race called golden freeze and she told the jockey to hound Carvills hill, so every time carvills hill went into the lead the jockey on golden freeze would ride the horse to get back in front. Golden freeze was pulled up after the first circuit because he was knackered, he never ran again. It turned out that carvills hill had broken his back on the first circuit and still managed to finish the race, he never ran again. Jenny Pitman destroyed two horses that day, she didn`t give a shit about the horses she trained.
I agree with you 100% i had an ante post bet that year on Carvills hill at 9/2 and he went off odds on i think. If i remember right Peter Scudamore was the jockey. I also remember this evil reptile blabbing on tv at the grand national when it was cancelled till the monday asking how the ira could do this to horses pmsl was a terrible acting performance, as like you i know the reptile didn't give a shit about the horses, alls the reptile loves is money and mockery evil reptile.
@@johnenglish929 the jockey on golden freeze said sorry to scudamore in the race told him he was told to do it Loved her own my balls fucked golden freeze and Carvills hill at the same time
Jenny Pitman what a horrible women, my friend was the village police officer in Lambourn. She sold him round the world tickets for £1,300. He went round the world and then a year she put bailiffs on him claiming she’d sold them to him for £4,500. She was a crook
His name was not Gerry, she sent a debt collector to his house, she agreed on £1,300 and he gave her a cheque and £300 in cash for the tickets. Then claimed he’d only given her £300 but she claimed he’d agreed £4,500. So what door do you want opening? You going to tell me she’s a lovely women? “Yes when she’s asleep”
