Corbin Burnes on Being Traded to Orioles & Contract Extension vs Free Agency 

as a lifelong orioles fan, this is the biggest signing in our history!

in the interview he said he’s committed to free agency. he also admitted it in a prev video on FT. also … he hired boras who is well known for shunning extensions in favor of the open market. burnes kept talking about how he wants to see his value on the open market when other teams are bidding on him. there’s a high chance it is a 1-year rental for baltimore. enjoy him while u have him.

I hope Corbin falls in love with the team and the Rubinstein does his part and gives that man what he deserves. Milwaukee did not treat him right and he loves that city, hopefully he can feel the same about Baltimore and get what he deserves

@@charlessamuel9642 absolutely. ur in cloud 9 after dealing with angelos the last 30 years. 3 years ago baltimore and texas lost 100+ games. the diff was in the ALDS last year texas had a 250M payroll and baltimore had an 80 payroll. texas had already spent close to 800M in free agency … bringing in seager, semien, degrom, gray, heaney, perez, eovaldi as FAs and trading for scherzer and montgomery. baltimore’s biggest FA moves were gibson and frazier and ur trade deadline move was fujinami. it wasn’t a surprise baltimore got swept by texas. baltimore didn’t get the support from ownership that texas had. now new owners understand baltimore have a young core with the deepest farm system so now they should be able to lock some of their guys, spend in FA and go to the trade market to supplement their roster

Feeling when he lost his arbitration hearing while he still loved the city he basically became distant from management. I get why players don't like arbitration as it puts team vs player, but if he is still taking it personally he has to get over it as that is normal for players that go to arbitration and he's not different than others that lost their case.

Yeah it’s sad, but it’s making me realize that it’s probably for the best that he’s gone if he cared this little.

@@gr8daynegbmilwaukee was never gonna give him a 9-figure contract. the only guys milwaukee have given 9-figure contracts to in recent memory were christian yelich and ryan braun. burnes was always looking forward to free agency and seeing his value on the open market when teams would be bidding against each other for his services. burnes could seek a contract of 300M or even beat cole’s record of 330M. if u don’t believe he will, come back to me next year once boras lands him his mega-deal.

we talk about it all the time! the problem is also how much profit is being milked by certain ballclubs. Orioles actually were a perfect example. Angelos was pocketing millions. A's are insane. They got 70mil just for their local TV deal alone last year. Add national TV money, gate and revenue sharing on top of that = crazy profit. it's a poisonous owner problem. Some of them need to invest in their ballclubs or be forced to do so. Pirates, for example. Bob Nutting doesn't give af. It's his income and winning is cool if it somehow happens

No CY young wins the award every year. They all have ups and downs. His down year last year was still better than most.
