Great review. I'm riding to the ocean tomorrow so I'll review my Corbin also. I do know the quality is fantastic, and my fit and installation was great. Thanks for sharing.
Just watched the video-/personally, I like the look of it on your bike. As you know I have Corbin seats on both my bikes-much better, but I was surprised about the lock not working quite right and the buzzing. Hmmmmm, hope that settles down. Great video, buddy!
Great review. Gives your bike a bit more Cafe Racer look. I had some of the same quirks with my 'Corbin Gun Fighter and the Lady'. It was hard to put on due to the key latch on my Honda CB500X and the seat being really tight to get on. Same here on the seat vibes. I was wondering if we felt it more since the pan is now hard fiberglass. After close to 2k miles my Corbin is now broken in and plush on the ass. How many miles on your seat?
@@ChopperFett I noticed at 1700ish it gave up the fight a bit more and softened up. I also noticed on my Corbin Yamaha xt250 seat it broke in right around 1700ish as well. May it be the way with your's ✊😎.
@ findingneutrel I bought a 17 cb500x with 7 miles on it. It has a seat concepts seat /seatcover. I hate it I can only ride for about 20/25. Minutes and that's it. But the WORST thing about the seat is that it takes me 4 or 5 try's to get the front hooks ( on thee seat) to hook properly so it will align right. A total PAIN IN THE ASS. If you couldgive me any feedback I would appreciate it. As soon as I heal from my latest back surgery we are headed to N.M. For a month and will be taking the cb( in the toy hauler( horsetrailer with living quarters) . I may be expecting to much because my other bike ( at this time) is a 1977 KZ650 with an LTD seat.
@marshallcollins8634 Hi Marshall. Firstly, I hope you recover soon. Back pain and surgery are no joke. I've had lots of both... and still do. Ironically just today I took my CB500X out for a long ride. My Corbin is still awesome and comfy as ever. I decided to wait until 7k miles to attempt taking the seat off and putting it back on. Not sure if you saw my video where I mentioned I had installed it wrong initially and it was all jacked up. So I drove to Corbin since it was close by and had them smack it on. The guy actually did this karate chop maneuver to the rear to get it very snuggly latched. The only thing I did was add a couple washers under the rear latch plate on the under side of the seat. Otherwise the latch plate was just out of reach of the rear latch lock. Once karate chopped in it was solid with zero wiggle room. Corbin said once it broke in I might be able to remove those base plate washers, but they still needed to be there even after 7k miles. No biggie. But as far as the front tab slipping into the lower groove and securing in at the base of the fuel tank its very simple now. And I didn't have to karate chop the rear much at all either. So in my opinion it's definitely worth the money. I have a Corbin on my XT250 as well and its made a big difference in comfort there too. If you call maybe ask for Jay Tyger at the Florida office. He is really good at helping you get exactly what you want. He even mailed me material samples to 100% sure the seat was exactly the way I wanted it. I tried using that seat builder thing online to place my order myself, but it was a bit of a pain. So I did both my orders in person over the phone. Hope this information is helpful.
The look is a bit different but I could live with it. See how it feels once you have run up some miles on it. Maybe do a short second review because they do change. Nice honest review. Good luck with it!
Since I’ve filmed this it’s already improved some more. Did 75 miles taking about 1.5 hours and no discomfort in the bum anyway. Could have kept going but “obligations” lol
The back hump looks a little odd against the tail, but all in all it looks to be very high quality. I’ve never tried a Corbin before, might have to change that
Doesn't look bad man! Maybe a little bulky, but not drastic. As long as you're more comfortable then that's all that matters. Stopping every 40 minutes had to suck!! Good video Brett!
I really like the look of that Corbin. And if it feels good - even better. The stock seat leaves a lot to be desired. For me with the stock seat it's the cut that I find annoying. Where the back of the operator's position meets pillion.
Yep that’s the part that hits my tail and becomes uncomfortable. I do have a cafe seat with about 4in of extra padding I got awhile back. It’s plusher than Corbin but changes the feeling of the bike (floating instead of in it)
Oh man! I would never ever consider to do this optical cramp to my z900rs. When you don't get along with the very comfortable stock seat then you are a real lost case! That new seat is a real sting in the eye...!
The stock seat was decent at best for me. The look ain’t for everyone and looks 100x better in person. I knew going in it wasn’t going to be for everyone but my ride time has been greatly extended by it. Thanks for the watch though I do appreciate it!
@@ChopperFett don't get me wrong I respect your decision to change the seat though you will have your reasons to do so. But man, it just looks so ugly😖
My Bonneville SE has a Corbin Gunfighter seat and... meh... it's okay... It looks good with the hump on the bonnie, but it's a hard seat and the Bonnie isn't something I do extended riding on (that's what the BMW is for).
