You will need:
7 pieces of yarn about 15-20 inches long
A square of cardboard
Scissors
Pencil

Kumihimo is Japanese braiding. Kumi means gather or group and himo means cord or thread. Braided silk cords have been in Japan's history for a long time. Kumihimo braids were used to secure swords to the body or on a kimono to add beautiful detail. The art of braiding is a treasured skill in the Japanese culture.
