Cordae is definitely what I'd call a backbone rapper. He is keeping the soul and essence of the art. He doesn't aim to make his own little niche thing that is hit or miss, and he doesn't chase the next new thing. He's just really good at being a rapper's rapper, and he's got good charisma which is always nice to see. And he face looks like nas which is funny to me
Exactly bro, he hos speaking His truth in a time when the only substance we getting is materialsm... He still drops knowledge to his degree and I feel like people are just being to harsh on the boy
I agree with this whole heartedly. Since he’s connected to OGs like Q-Tip, Jada, Black Star, if he was to link up and help him sharpen his pen (obviously not write for him but teach / train) he could rise to the level we want him to be at
Completely agree with George. Cordae has flows, rhyme structure, he can write a good hook, but I don't feel like he's got *bars* like that, especially in a freestyle context.
@@godsandmonstars lol so? There’s rappers that keep that old hip hop flame alive that have done better and achieved more at even younger ages than 24, Joey badass is a prime example, at 17 he gave a true solid east coast mixtape in 1999 and it’s regarded as one of the best mixtapes in general. Then at 22 he put out all amerikkkan badass which was his true breakthrough album that put him in the spot he’s in today. This whole “room for improvement” conversation with cordae gotta give something in the end, because George is right, cordae been here for a solid number of years and hasn’t really given much substance outside of flow and rhymes
@@godsandmonstars So he’s actually older than Dave, but he’s still getting a pass? Age isn’t relevant to lyricism outside of the additional context provided by experience. It doesn’t mean you can’t have bars. I’ve only heard a couple tracks from Cordae but I don’t hear anything special other than good feel for flow.
I see what you mean, and I agree. I think it all comes down to life experience, man... To me Cordae sounds like a dude who absolutely is a student of the craft, in terms of technique and style he's polished, but he's just lacking in the department of subject matter. Different people mature in different ways, in their own timing. Cordae feels like if he goes out and do some living, in the later part of his career he might become a Cole or something - if that makes sense?
I like his flow and, you're right, he definitely has an ear for music. Lots of big boy talk, but I didn't hear anything that shook the earth. Great reaction! TY
First 30 here!! so glad to be here. Been here a long time fam. I love your guy's humility and message proud to be a FreeThinker 💯💯💯💯 P.S. let's go Cordae!!!
If you want a perfect emcee, look no further than Black Thought! He has flow/cadence changes, lyricism, endurance, breath control, the voice, vocabulary, big boy talk, mental picture painting, punchlines, substance, and drops knowledge! He can freestyle, make great musiq and he can sing (Reek Ruffin later ego) He is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper!
good takes on Cordae , I feel he used this freestyle to show his flows & wordplay ability but most of all , just had fun . his album definitely contains what you guys are looking for , especially George lol . I think it’s about one song on there that matches the mood of this freestyle which shows the diversity on there 💯💪🏽
@@realtalk2863 I think you misunderstood me 💯 I agree that George would feel the same way that’s why I consider that as the only one that he would judge it that manner .. maybe Super as well but I enjoy those songs thoroughly
I feel given a year, when he goes dark for a while and disconnects from social media, dives into some good books he likes, he’s going to resurface with far more lucid lyrics.
I mean i get it, but i dont think thats necessarily what he wants to be. I wouldnt be surprised if he could write toothier bars, but its just not what he wants to do
Really good flow and really basic bars. Very talented kid overall that will do big things going forward. His best attribute is his confidence and i dig that
Dave is pretty talented and has stunning tracks, but I wouldn’t say he’s untouchable. Little Simz blew me away with those same aspects on her last record.
Yall should do a few Volbeat songs.. like Sad Man's Toungue, Wait a Minute my girl, Shotgun Blues. Volbeat is like Elvis meets Metallica. With a little Johnny Cash, Social Distortion and a 50s jive sound mixed in depending what songs you listen too. They currently touring with Ghost and are amazing live. Seen them 4 times now. Most recently a few days ago in Hershey PA. Absolutely love Volbeat. They are different from most rock bands. Give them some love.
I listen to Cordae when I feel like listening to rap that's coming from the soul and is all vibes. In terms of lyrics, he's there but sounds like he has much more potential. His best talent is delivering the flows he's in my top 5 nonetheless
Y'all really have to do more Cordae bruh, please react to Cordae - Parables remix, one of his best tracks personally my favourite and ems verse made it even better for me
And isn't relish(the condiment) actually sweet itself? I don't eat it since I last tried it as a kid, but from what I hear it described as it's sweet so that was another double meaning with it.
What I’ll never get is how you guys hyped logic some years ago.. this freestyle reminds me of the type of bars logic used to write and u guys would go crazy about. It feels like there was a bit of a double standard with logic. He had A LOT of filler. Every song he’d say “I get it like this and I get it like that” or “hit ‘em with the baretta” lol…
Oh damn you clever I agree with you and you got a great memory too it seems like they dont really cordae that much as a rapper because of the fact he was overhyped by legends of the rap game maybe
@@bbgo8265 I think also at the time they were reacting to logic their channel wasn’t as big, so maybe they didn’t want to start off hella critical and lose a big part of their fan base from the gate.
Logic has a whole different flow tho. Like a smooth machine gun, so yes he uses lots of filler, but I guess it's less obvious. Cordae is trying to embody a rappers rapper. Like he wants to deliver bars and content. In that regard, I understand their critique of him.
@@mgsBicycleO9 I agree logic’s is less obvious.. he very much prioritises flow over bars on many occasions, so at least he has that. Cordae defo thinks he’s better than he is whereas logic, at least on his earlier mixtapes sounds like he’s just having fun. But yeah I still think both artists need to be called out for the filler, despite their differences.
Commenting on every video until you react to Rammstein. (I'm absolutely sure you'll love them, I'm trying to put you on) Du Hast (most famous song) Engel (great lyrics) Mein herz brennt (Epic) Sonne (very interesting symbolism) Bestrafe mich (personal favorite)
You guys gave some fair critics of Cordae but like myself who loves lyricists, not every artists has to be a lyricists to be great. Like you said he is in the middle of new wave and old heads and he might stay there his music overall is still 🔥
Cordae reminds me of a less corny Joyner Lucas. They have clearly mastered their rapping ability but seem to just rap for rapping sake. Even when theyre telling stories it seems like theyre just rhyming words together.
Sorry if this sounds like a diss but Cordae is a Cole's offspring without the punchlines (at least in his albums, cuz I've seen the ones he has in that Adin Ross freestyle)
There’s definitely a more old school flow and lyrical content here, I like it…sounds like kinda black thought in the late 90s/00s roots albums Especially the second part… third part sounds little more modern reminded more of tobe ngiwe a little-just like the way lost in vegas have discovered a lot of rock and metal on your channel, I’ve discovered a lot of hip hop / rappers , I’d never heard of cordae before, I’m enjoying this 😊
