Bowerman snub is crazy
@brandonmroe265

At this point they should just write a rule saying you're not allowed to be a Bowerman nominee if you're not D1, because that's basically what they said by snubbing this guy. He's been more consistently stellar this year than any male D1 athlete except the triple jumper from Arkansas

Wow! Can't wait for the USATF Championships in July. It's crazy that he also had a 27-0½ LJ and 7-1¾ HJ in the same MIAA May meet that he won the 110m hurdles. That was a helluva weekend!

He has also long jumped over 27 ft. and high jumped 7' 3". Also ran 12.87 at DII Nationals wind aided. Understand that tail winds don't help great hurdlers that much because they have to cut their stride so much to keep from running up on the hurdles.

He just ran 11 fastest time ever and is a D2 champion not even pro yet. The world record is 12.80 so he is only .16 off of that. That wasn’t a perfect race either. He did clip a couple of hurdles just barely slowing him down in the beginning but he finished like a freight train. I bet he will go sub 12.9 next race and get first or second at nationals. He is going to be special and maybe the next world record holder in the future.

@@Dave-lr2wo I don't need your correction. "But" was intentionally used because the casual viewer might have thought that fast run was clean but it was NOT. He has quite a bit of room for improvement and thinking out loud could challenge the WR.

Ngl, the fact that we have world leads in late June coming from random, low level meets is a major contributor the clownification of track. That said, this guy is the US champion this year. Maybe pulls a Trevor Bassit and medals at worlds.
@thomasmiller28
@thomasmiller28 Год назад
How do you figure it contributes to track getting clowned?
@crosslink1493
@crosslink1493 Год назад
There's always new talent coming up and breaking through. Remember Abby Steiner last season in the women's sprints? Wait and see what he does as the outdoor season progresses, if he can run a few more down around 13.0
@jordanjordannis2258
@jordanjordannis2258 Год назад
@@thomasmiller28 I never meant track getting clowned, I meant track becoming a clown sport. This was a small college meet, not televised where most people could watch it. The fields were mostly empty and the competition was non-existent. And settings like these are where top marks are produced. It's like if the Celtics played a big NBA game in a community rec center against the neighbourhood Dad League. It's what contributes to the permanent amateur status of track and field.
@cavaleer

Gotta love D2 guys that can beat any D1 guys......which means this dude is special.....since, well, D2 comes with D2 coaching...nothing against the coaches there, but.....probably doesn't compare to high level D1 programs......this is similar to Trevor Bassett from Ashland in the 400 hurdles and 400M.........its always fun to see athletes that can become world class even at the disadvantage of going to a lower college level......
@korbinpugh6130
@korbinpugh6130 Год назад
No disrespect to this take, but Pitt State about the only exception from this. I race against these guys occasionally throughout the year, and it’s not just Tinch that is good, the whole team is spectacular. They’re quite literally the best D2 school in the entire nation arguably. I don’t think lack of coaching got them there. Apart from this school, I think your take is valid.
@trevorregay9283
@trevorregay9283 Год назад
@@korbinpugh6130 I mean, I hear you since I'm not familiar with Pitt State and their coaching program so my humble apologies if I insulted anyone, but for the most part, D1 programs have a LOT more resources to develop their athletes....which usually includes proven elite coaching and trainers.....especially the higher level D1 programs that get the elite track and field athletes to go there on full rides.....anyway, I love to see these types of things.....its like Larry Bird going to Indiana State back in the day and leading them to the NCAA finals....even if they lost to Magic and MSU.
