Comparing the 2-1/4 hp Milwaukee cordless 18 volt router combo kit with the Metabo 2 peak h.p. Metabo 36v cordless router. Woodworking routers are great, but cordless routers are even better, especially when they can handle a 1/2" collet.

That Metabo router is neat! But I'm already on the Milwaukee and Dewalt battery systems. So I'm probably stick with Milwaukee and buy their 1/2 "cordless yes cordless everything is better, if only batteries came cheaper, have battery Milwaukee and Dewalt trim routers.

How does the Milwaukee m18 FR12 compare to the Dewalt DW618? I'm on the Milwaukee platform already however, it seems a big investment and think corded is likely to last forever but battery tech could change and batteries burn out etc. Also think I may be better getting just a 1/2 inch plunge and a 1/4 inch trim/compact rather than a kit. What would your recommendation be? I'm more in the market for the best router for cutting mortises, dado's rabets for joinery so. Don't mind investing for longevity but do like a bit more bang for my buck!

The Milwaukee is great with nice battery life. If I could only have one router I guess it would be the DeWalt 618. Not to throw a wrench in things, but DeWalt is about to release a 2-1/4hp cordless router. Good luck deciding!
