Gent's - Just really got into "Free Range". Loving it. When the quitting topic came up, I remember getting to Jump School the Saturday before Monday 1st week. That gave me way too much time to think about Jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft. But a Black Hat said... "Think about the number of people that are here and have completed this school...". I may not have been a UBER "High Speed" soldier but I knew there were plenty that were worse than me. In Jump Phase, I ended up as the 1st jumper in our stick in the lead Aircraft. Fucking AIRBORNE! Loved every bit of it.

When I was 7, was in the woods by my house in Missouri, had dozens of acres to explore a my best buddy Ryan. We had packs and .22 marlins and we would disappear for 8-10 hours at a time. There was a lake with a small house where a crazy old lady lived, she was mean and crazy. We were sloshing through the shallow shore when we heard a 12 gauge slide working.. we looked at each other and sprinted. Old lady was in the tree line to our left shooting at us! We hid behind a couple big trees until she was out of shells, I could hear pellets hitting the tree and whizzing last me, we were just staring at each other and I couldn’t stop laughing, the whole situation was ludicrous and hilarious. I knew then I was meant for the military. Joined at 17 to Army Psy Ops.

I was 17 n yup it hit me like a ton of crap, but I got thru first time n the 10 weeks seemed like years but u personally don’t notice the difference in urself until u see your family n friends again after the 10 weeks when u had totally been reprogrammed.

Lol rake rocks for 12 hours a day. When I was on active duty in 1989. Combat Engineer Fort Polk. We had to dig the rocks out around the motor pool perimeter with a loader. When Matt started talking about how humanity is a virus because we as a species act in a selfish manner. He's not wrong, but I would say all of life is selfish. Its why I don't think selfishness is an inherently bad thing. It can be! But not by default. Its like pride. Pride in and of itself isn't a net negative, its when it tips into arrogance that it becomes a danger. Same thing with selfishness, its when selfishness tips into self-centeredness that it becomes a problem. Most people on earth have had dessert, its a selfish impulse because we aren't consuming it for nourishment, we consume it because it tastes good, doesn't make you a bad person. I know its super related to the topic being discussed, but its an interesting thought.
