Giuseppe Di Stefano, sicuramente una pietra miliare del bel canto, rimarrà nella memoria di noi melomani in quanto seppe aggiungere allo smalto unico ed alla bellezza timbrica che caratterizzavano la sua voce anche una notevole passionalità ricca di sensualità. Di Stefano has a phrasing and a technique equal to an old man who sells newspapers on the street (not only in 1992 but througout his complete career. Di Stefano is the equall of a singer who sings in a tabern, technically and in the style !
Sì, davvero indimenticabile ed inconfondibile! La sua voce sembrava possedere in sé, in maniera NATURALE, tutto io sole della Sicilia! Peccato che Pippo abbia spesso sprecato il suo dono studiando poco, fidando nella natura dell suo talento... Katia bellissima, qui. trascinata dalla voce meravigliosa di Di Stefano!
Thank you for posting this gem. For those of us fortunate enough to have lived in a time of great singers this is truly a treat. I first heard the great Di Stefano when I was seventeen and now at the age of eighty-two I still love his singing as much or more. Having the beautiful Katia at his side is an added bonus. R.I.P The great Pippo.
Que Maravilla cuando podemos difrutar de voces que hicieron una historia dentro del mundo de la lirica estos dos cantantes han formado parte de los elencos mas importantes de muchos prestigiosos teatros el tenor creo un presedente en cuanto a la tecnica de cantar el canto lírico ya que abrio una forma de hacer los sonidos mas abiertos y redondeados logrando con ello una emision mas potente y abrumadora fue el tenor que compartio ecenarios de muchas operas con la inigualable Maria Callas ya que ella vio en el un portento de interpretacion y un desbordante sonido vocal pudiera decirse que fue el tenor mas admirado y aplaudido de toda una decada la soprano Katia fue tambien una virtuosa y bella cantante que paseo y brillo en muchos papeles que la hicieron convertirse en la dama de muchos personajes operisticos hoy estos dos cantantes demuestran una vez mas que fueron muchos los llamados pero pocos los elegidos y ellos fueron uno de ellos gracias por tan magistral video desde Madrid un admirador del buen arte operistico
Piccolo aneddoto: una volta un critico rimproverò a Di Stefano di fumare spesso qualche sigaretta, che per un cantante era una cosa tutt'altro che buona per la voce. La risposta fulminante di Pippo fu questa: "Io non sono un cantante che fuma, ma un fumatore che canta!!"... Meraviglioso incosciente Pippo, troppo simpatico!

@@jesusmunoz2400 , perché quelli che amano Kraus o Domingo sono trattabili? Kraus avra' avuto pure una migliore tecnica ma come interprete era un pezzo di legno. Chi se ne frega dell'eleganza( quale poi) se per fare bene gli acuti a vita e durare 10 anni di piu' canti col naso. Qualcuno mi saltera' alla gola, ma e' così.
Gino Pietracupa neglected to mention Di Stefano's impeccable diction, beautiful quality of voice, a tenor that was extremely popular who achieved instant success when first coming on the operatic scene, and a tenor who was always intimate with his his listeners. Gino, unfortunately doesn't understand that a singer passed his prime or in his declining years doesn't define an artist, and people stand in appreciation to get a glimpse perhaps of what GDS once was. I saw Di Stefano circa 1962 at Carnegie Hall, and his voice sounded very similar to the way he sounds on records except for the incredible beautiful overtones in the theater. I hope Gino Pietracupa is not the type of person who will push his parents down the steps in a wheel chair like Richard Widmark did in ''The Kiss Of Death''
I saw the Widmark Film! Yes, and saw GDS in 1959, Tosca with Tebaldi, he was still great then in the late 1950's, of course here he wasn't the same in his 70's, who cares what anyone says, GDS was a great tenor, a beautiful lyric voice in his prime.
And no one is sad for him or mad at him that his abuse of one of the greatest sounds of the last century put him in steady decline by the time he was 35?
Un tenore senza tecnica non canta così ad eta' inoltrata con un volume inoltre il triplo di quello della Ricciarelli che sulla nota conclusiva acuta copre abbondantemente.
