Core XY 3d printer kinematics can be explained with paper only. Maths can help with programming, but nothing aids understanding like practical demonstration. I've been wanted to do another core xy video for a while and then was sorting papers at work and stumbled across this idea. I think its awesome.

Thanks this helps. Still, whoever invented coreXY is a genius for sure!

This video was years ahead of the corexy popularity we have now in 2023. The simplicity of the explaination of the axis moment was a masterclass. Is there any way you can refresh the video for all the VRON subcribers in your channel? Many of your viewers from the 3D printing community do not understand the the basic rules of corexy stepper motion and intutative videos like this one get lost with time. Is your corexy still working and would you ever do a comparison video with a focus on how much has changed in the past 5 years and your renewed fondness for the corexy? Thanks for this old post and keep up the production of your 3D Printing Videos.

Is it possible to duplicate with an IDEX corexy setup?

It is certainly possible like it is shown here: reprap.org/forum/file.php?397,file=85104 However you should rather use another dual extrusion method like the E3D Chimera, which is clearly easier to set up.

For cartesian system, transformation matrix for moving from motor velocity basis to extruder velocity basis is the identity matrix (and a scalar factor). For corexy, its the regular matrix representing 45deg rotation about z axis. I think... Been awhile since i did linear algebra. Great visualization! 👍

That didn't really help much more than the last thing I saw..definitely not a very intuitive system..the same example works if you cross ur fingers, tho :p (that's what I started with before I starting looking for answers to this..not ur fault, it just hasn't clicked for me yet [I'm sure])

Bit late to this but I thought of another good way to explain after learning from your video! Thanks! Think of a wood block tensioned between two strings: \[]/ If force is applied in opposite directions on the strings, the block moves up or down (Y motion): would result in _[]_ this works for both directions, also applying force in same direction on strings would result in X motion: -> \[]/ -> would result in... the same thing just to the right😂 this would also fit your diagonal use case, pulling only one string! just thought I'd share after my mental battle trying to understand. Thanks for the video

edit: I hope this made sense... RU-vid formatted my ascii art all weird Y motion: results in _ [] _

I just watched a 12 minute video about CoreXY that didn't actually explain it. Thank you for doing so, and in rapid fashion!
