THIS IS CORGI! Finally, someone films what's it's like to own a Corgi! Anyone thinking about owning a Corgi needs to watch this first! Thank you for your honest, candid commentary!
I really appreciate this video. People only really talk about how great puppies are and how cute they are. No one really talks about how frustrating and hard they can be. But I love that this video shows how much of a bond you guys formed in just a few weeks. I've never had a puppy before and now as an adult I'm trying to do research to make sure I can handle it since I do struggle with my mental health, so it was also honestly really reassuring to hear you say that the puppy actually helped.
I know this is 3 years old... but I have a few things to say. I currently have a TriColor 14 week old (as of February 26th) Male Corgi Puppy and an 8 week old Fawn Female as well. At this age, they don't really know how to let you know that they need to potty. At this stage, EVERY PUPPY IS DIFFERENT, i'm talking then out every 1-3 hours or so to go outside. He has had accidents at both my house, and my dad's. The accidents at my house were due to the lengthy time in between potty breaks (I use to take them out with our other dog - my 3yr old Female Corgi, every hour) it will take up to 3-4 months to get potty training down. They have been great the last couple weeks until we got to my dads. He peed and pooed on the floor =/ NOT a happy daddy (me). So it's important to have and follow a routine with the puppy! Biting - they're PUPPIES! This is how they COMMUNICATE AND PLAY! it is IMPORTANT for you to tell them NO when they're hurting you or destroying things you don't want them to destroy/damage! I tell him/her to STOP! NO BITES! And if he continues, I tell him/her again and if it continues, in the crate he/she goes. I don't suggest using pee pads! If you have any rugs in your house, they WILL ASSOCIATE THE RUGS WITH PEE PADS! So I would suggest you NOT USE THEM! If you NEED something inside, create a litter box with pine/horse bedding (they're pellets. The horse bedding is pellets that are HIGHLY ABSORBENT and turns into dust when wet) this is an alternative to make it feel like the ground/ dirt outside. Dogs/ puppies are A LOT OF WORK! NEVER GET ONE OF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR CAN'T COMMIT TO THEM AS THEY CAN LIVE UP TO 15 YEARS!
Exact same with my corgi. First month was very hard, but once she had a few growth spurts, the constant need to go out every hour got much better. We puppy-proofed the house beforehand, thank god. We got LOTS of toys and for outdoors we got bouncy balls she could herd around. Also puzzle toys for dogs are SO useful for curbing destructive behavior like chewing on furniture or wanting to herd you around by nipping. So glad your relationship with your puppy turned into a healthy, great one.
Love this, reminds me of our Archie who is now 21/2 and looks exactly like this guy. They are not the easiest dogs to have, VERY energetic and mischievous but lovers and so much fun to play with! Hope he is still bringing you much joy.
This gives me hope! Lol. Estella had a puppy for 3 days and it was terribly stressful especially because I was working night shift and my parents were complaining so much about it. Sadly we had to return the puppy back to the ex owners, but the dog is in a better home now. Wish me luck with my husky though! Lol
Lol I remember this time, I miss when my puppy was that smol but I don't miss some of the puppy behavior. I knew what to expect but it didn't make it that much easier. The biting was soo bad for awhile, my hands looked like I had punched a bunch of glass mirrors over and over again. And I was scared we weren't bonding as well as we should. The puppy blues are real, but it's worth it in the end 😊
Ahh how cute. How old was moose in this video? Also you’re hilarious and I really appreciate seeing this honest side of looking after a dog instead of all the best/perfect parts like other videos. Keeping it real!
I got a corgi puppy recently and thank you so much for this vid. My pup behaves exactly as yours had been and I was feeling he won't get better about the biting and pottying everywhere but you vid has helped ease my fears.
Girl you are so funny! Dogs are simpler than we think. This is the age that you should let them off leash so they know to follow you, let them meet and play with other dogs and learn their potty language
