Great job, thank you for doing stories on Kansas City and the Kansas City Mafia, you have the best show on RU-vid, stay safe and keep up the great work
There is a Cork Civella interview segment in the "Mob on The Run" video here on RU-vid, that gives some insight into his personality. I would link it, but im linkage challenged, and keep up the good work Gary.
Hey, Gary! Good episode as always! I drove past the location of the Virginia Tavern today. I saw a homeless, toothless, & topless gal eating a sandwich on the sidewalk of Virginia & Admiral. I called for a well being check. Hope she got some help. 🙏🏿🍀
1st x viewer as well great stuff and you really have the knowledge will look for others by you and your channel just rolled into my home feed though I think I have subscribed for awhile tx again btw in chicago born and raised and fascinated by all things outfit and mob related subjects
Another Happy Sunday video safely stored by me in the desert vault. Neat insight on the sightings of the Civellas as they went about their business as well as how some businesses were gained, Casey in AZ
Great video Gary. I have always listened to the audio but just subscribed here. It isn’t exactly on topic but I was wondering if you ever worked with or knew a Detective Chris Atwood at KCPD? He was my great uncle on a side of my family that was a bit estranged. I hadn’t seen him since I was a child and he passed away three years ago.
Another interesting upload Gary. I like hearing about the mob in other cities and not just NYC or Chicago. I was told that there was a Mafia crew in my hometown, Kalamazoo, headed by one made man from Detroit, which I never heard of when I grew up there, even though I'm half Sicilian and I thought I knew most of the paisans in Kazoo. I left there in 1974 at 20 years old, so maybe this Mafia crew was active after I left there. Kalamazoo was a medium size city with a high crime rate as are most of the industrial manufacturing factory cities in southern Michigan. Do you know anything about this Mafia crew in Kalamazoo Michigan?
Paul Varselona was my uncle. He was related to a big shot in Chicago from the 70s on. In the 80s and 90s he’d come visit and the big shot from Chicago would have a police officer pick me and my mom up and drive us to a hotel for 3 days. Apparently Cerone, Aiuppa, and Messino would have meetings with KC at my house which was across the alley from Messino.
Gary, my mom grew up in KC MO going to catholic schools with all the mobsters kids in 60’s and 70’s. York was her maiden name. She married a full blooded Sicilian.
Hello, Gary. Enjoy your retirement. Stay healthy to get as much retirement money as possible. Had a friend who retired as State Trooper in PA. fatal heart attack at 53.
1980 something I’m going home from work eastbound on Truman Rd. As I pass under I-70 a cop car, lights and sirens passes me eastbound. As I crest the rise there at Cleveland I see the cop car several blocks ahead stopping crosswise in the street. There are no other cars on the street except me and him. I stop and survey the situation ahead. The street is covered in debris near the Kensington or Spruce Av intersection. I turn around and go home another way. On the news I find out it was a car bomb. A fella in the bar down there went out got in his car and boom. Head and torso found separately across the street. Where can I find out who this was blown up and what happened there. It looks as if I missed witnessing the explosion by mere minutes. New to your show. Great job.
Great video Gary. Would you please do a video on Anthony Tony Ripe Civella during his tenure ass boss from the 90s till his death in 2006. Also since Carl Deluna was released in 98 and died in 2008, do you know if he was still active those last 10 years?
@@GrantMackey-v5j I don’t think Tuffy was active other than as an advisor. Tony Ripe was the boss. He took a conviction for running a pharmaceutical drug scheme.
@@GrantMackey-v5j Frank Deluna stopped by the liquor store where I worked, across from his fruit stand, and we were talking and he jokingly said " when Ripe was alive my balls were as big as melons
Sir you mentioned KCK. Are you aware of mob activities in surrounding towns like Atchison or Topeka past or present, especially since prohibition lasted in Ks til ‘48. For example bootleg liquor shipped down the Kansas River to Topeka to our local night spots.
Would love to hear you do something on St. Louis's *Giordano Crime Family!* And why did *The Civella Family,* when Tony Giordano declared St. Louis's indepedence in 1960, not try to rein them back in? Thanks a lot!
Did you know or were aware of Nick's KC lawyer, Sheldon Sandler? I understand he was involved in the Landmark Hotel sale to Howard Hughes in 1969. We're you involved in this in your role as a detective? If so, the story would make a great video.
@@GaryJenkinsMafiaDetective yeah, that's the one. I'm 59 now and remember the tail end of this story in the 80's... but remember being 10 years old and my grandparents talking about mob issues in KC as the news would unfold. My grandfather was a teamster truck driver so I think some if those shenanigans hit closer to home for him. Then the bombing and everything kinda folded. Those Kansas strip bars were kind of closing down as I came of age. There was one on SW Boulevard and I-35 in Kansas (Rosedale) but I was like 14-16. About the same age as the dancers.
@@rctrue not on you tube. Can rent Gangland Wire and Brothers against Btothers Civella Spero War on Amazon. Or buy the DVD on my website. www.ganglandwire.com
@@GaryJenkinsMafiaDetective I'm guessing more like 50 or 60 associates but even though I ran Bars for people like Willie Cammisano JR. and his brother Vince, God rest their souls. I'm guessing about 50 or 60 wise guys maybe more back in the 80's and 90's. Great video my friend.
And a big hello to my friend Mark Sorentino, how did you not know that steak house had cameras???!!! lol Love you Mark! I'm hoping you are almost out I pray.
@@supermannnnnnnable thanks you are correct I did under estimate the associates. I forget about all the people like Mark and guys like that. Plus the many good boosters that were connected.
Sorry, Mr. Jenkins, this is for Mark Sorentino. Don't worry Mark, even though you burned down a famous KC steakhouse, and probably the most famous!...lol I'll get you out of Federal prison even if it takes a hundred years! lol
Kansas City had a powerful Mafia family and a long history of organized crime, from the days of John Lazia to Nick Civella, Kansas City played an important role in the history of organized crime in America
