WIE EK IS -- CORLEA
Corlea's long awaited solo album is here!
Yes, a brand new and exciting chapter has started in Corlea's life. This multi-talented singer with the raven black hair and golden voice recently recorded a new quality album Wie Ek Is with catchy, new original songs as well as a few Afrikaans golden oldies.
Corlea also recently budded into a talented song writer -- and a few of her new songs were recorded on Wie Ek Is.
She renewed her music partnership recently with the experienced music producer Byron Kuntz. Byron, who plays most of the instruments on Wie Ek Is, produced her new album and Corlea co-wrote five songs with Byron. She translated the lyrics of one song for the album and the album also boasts two songs she wrote single handedly. About 70% of the material on the album is brand new and she sings English as well as Afrikaans -- and surprises with a Turkish song.
Corlea and Byron tried to produce a new sound with this album -- but a sound which her fans could still associate with.
Wie Ek Is also boasts with various music styles and is like a quilt -- from classic ballads, mixed with modern pop and drenched with organic, earthy elements.
The song, Gee Jouself Vir My, has a modern pop sound which evolves into an instrumental part.
The titel song Wie Ek Is, is one of Corlea's creations and very moving. Rock Me Right and Just In Case are two songs Byron and she actually wrote four years ago -- both songs has a modern touch and will appeal to a wide audience.
Corlea gives her own, unique rendition of three evergreen Afrikaans songs - Valiant Swart's Sonvanger, Anneli van Rooyen's Soos Ou Vriende and Amanda Luyt's As Jy Aan Eendag Glo. The three songs were specially arranged for this new album.
Another bonus on her album is the Turkish song Ask, written by Sertab Erener. Ask is a dark love song with an operatic undertone. She proofs with this song that she is totally in a class of her own -- her wide musical range gives you goose bumps!
