What a song.Reminds me of those good ol' days growing up in Greenville,Ms.Thank you momma and daddy but most of all,Thank you God for those days of just cornbread and black eye peas.12 of us and we never went hungry.

I agree with you. We had to be thankful for whatever our parents cooked. Pinto beans, either cabbage, or butter beans, with pig feet or ham shanks and butter cornbread.

black folk have such a rich and powerful legacy. i still don't mind a plate of cornbread and blackeyes peas. however, a true believer can see beyond the menu. that was all they had at the time. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST made black men warriors. ALL OF US. now just how did he do that? HE did it by example.

brothers you're awesome ..and this is a nice rendition. .but come on. you didn't lwrite this song..the song popped in my mind so i tried to see if it was on RU-vid. .not here by the original artists. i almost want to say it was the bright stars of Michigan ....but you took credit for writing the song in your preface. ..you shouldn't have done that... but again good rendition of it.
