Too many people saying the sauce isn't what should make bbq. To that degree, I do agree however if you like sauce on your meat, there is nothing wrong with appreciating a well-made sauce. That being said, I used to come here in the 90s on my summer trips down to Alabama. I lived and still do, in Illinois and the 12 hour drive to visit friends was always coupled with grabbing bbq from when this place was "Bo's Corner Pit". It's inspired me to become a pitmaster myself and to this day remember it and the people fondly. I do hope Bo and family are doing well wherever they are.

So this place burned again, but they've built it back a 7th time and are coming strong. Same great eats but a bigger better building. It stays PACKED even though it's in the middle of no where. When I worked for Prichard's Distillery in Kelso, TN, which is about 45 minutes east of Corner Pit, I remember folks asking where this was when we did tours. That's how famous their eats are. The brisket.....is to die for never mind their pulled pork bbq!

Heather, I bet I know you! I go to Pritchard's all the time; I'm the guy that stole your little black cat! Corner Pit is now open after their last fire, but only on Friday and Saturday. Well worth the drive! We'll be using them this Saturday for a working event we have planned. If you go to Corner Pit, hit the Wise Ant bakery right across the street. Home made bakery also worth the visit.

A 7th fire? Whoa... That's a little spooky. I think I'd be adding a sprinkler system next time!

@@hippydippy Last time they built the pits outside the building due to previous fires and it still burned. Locals talk about some of the early burns may have been arson. Also, if things catch on fire out here it may take a long time for the fire department to respond. Just rural living.

What is the original sauce like? Is it vinegary? Or more sweet? Or somewhere in the middle?

I don't wanna come off as mean, but with BBQ, you never want people leaving saying the sauce was amazing after hours of cooking the meat. It's a condiment. The seasoning, meat, and smoke should be the star.

The meat looked pretty good BUT... The quality of a barbecue joint should not be based on their sauce. If the customers are talking about how good your sauce is instead of how tender, juicy and smoky your meat is then your doing something wrong...
