This was, without a doubt, the best performance I saw at Cornerstone 2002. David Eugene Edwards was an electrifying performer, singing with otherworldly passion as he stared down the audience (most of whom probably had no idea who Wovenhand was or what they were in for when the band started playing). The songs were amazing; I still get chills during the climax of “Your Russia,” the final song of the set.
As I left the tent that night, I felt like I’d experienced something truly special. Wovenhand’s performance represented what Cornerstone was all about for me, i.e., seeing an artist truly on the edge of the Christian “culture” that permeates our lives so much share his unique and haunted view on matters of faith.
