This was one of those days that I'll never forget. I had planned on doing a big paddle along the coast to the Lizard Point and back. My Wife and kids were away and l hadn't been out on my board for a few months so this was going to be a full days paddle along the coast. It was the most perfect morning to be out, no wind or swell and so peaceful paddling through the harbour of Porthleven, just as I got to the end of the harbour I picked up a fairy liquid bottle out the water and carried on my journey. After an early start its always nice to just have a sit while out there and enjoy a mornings coffee in the surrounding of mother nature, I had just finished my last mouthful of coffee and right in front of me a dolphin showed up, then another and within no time the ocean was buzzing with dolphins and a cormorant which was diving under my board where this bait ball was hiding. It was the most incredible experience. Not a soul out there. It was like I had just dived into a David Attenborough documentary. The dolphins were so playful and one kept coming up to the side of my board to get a closer look. After about an hour of them playing and feeding all around my board they vanished. Back on with the paddle. Every paddle stroke I made I could see that plastic bottle. Just sat on my board and wondering maybe that was some good karma at play. I had an amazing paddle to Poldu, grabbed a nice bite to eat and carried on around Mullion Island which felt like I was in Hawaii, then down to Kynance Cove. What an amazing stretch of coast we have right on our doorstep. I feel so blessed to live in this magical part of the world.
