This is a great unintentional ASMR, I love it. And it's also very interesting. But now I'm wondering what's the difference between a tea, a dance and a party. Not being British I'm having a hard time to understand.

I was astounded to hear the woman in the recording pronouncing "sixth" correctly. When did you decide it was too hard for the British people? Because she said it right.

Men's Trimming Competition...they'd have been trimming and decorating women's hats.

Are you serious? That reminds me of Pride & Prejudice when the girls are talking of trimming their hats and Mrs. Elton in Jane Austen's Emma has a horror of being over-trimmed. How funny to have it be a competition! I bet that was fun to watch!

Sooty folks, but I suppose it’s sort of lost on me. I can understand why it could be exciting for some to celebrate royal occasions, but it’s not for me. I respect a man or women who earns theirs. I do not respect someone born to it. I could respect them if they earned it. I know Queen Elizabeth drove around in an ambulance during the bombing of England. Firestorms and dropping bombs did not stop her, so much respect in that. As for American royalty? We have our version and no, I do not respect most of them. Silver spoon fed people do not impress me. I think most royalty is no better than anyone else. Less so for many of them. Born into rank not earned means diddly unless you do works worthy of that rank.

Very insightful but I'm not sooty.

Many of the nobility agreed and do agree with you. To whom much is given, much is expected.

@@joanngreen8747 The Windsor fortune was looted long before it was inherited. But the weirdness is not so much the wealth. It’s the deference and bizarre class system. Some criticize Meghan for being an actress. As if pretending to be appointed by God to be king and head of a church isn’t the greatest act of all. And an entire country pretending it’s true. 😂

@@joanngreen8747 Not meant as sooty but as sorry. As in sorry folks. And no. I do not begrudge anyone who inherited. My point is simply why all the fascination? Is it a tabloid thing? Or perhaps a means to live through them. I have no idea. As far as King Charles goes, the Queen never allowed him to take the title of King. Not while she was alive. Make of that what you will. As far as making his own money? Okay. But was it something he raised from nothing? Or did it involve his largess. Again. If your born into money that's fine. I still do not understand why people hold the royals English, or American, or otherwise in such high regard.

@@mrmudcatslim1004 My guess is that the fascination comes from the living vicariously thing. There’s a little bit of most people that would love to be royalty and all the excitement that comes with it. So we watch what they do to kinda live through that. Personally I like to learn about all the traditions and history that goes with coronations, and other state occasions. I hope King Charles takes his responsibilities seriously. He’s now in a position to do a great amount of good for people if he chooses to. One more thought - For the British people I think fascination with royalty also has to do with patriotism. I hope they don’t think it’s disrespectful to say their royalty now-a-days is a little like a national mascot. Now, obviously they are more than just a mascot. But that is a large part of their responsibilities - to be the face of England. So celebrating coronations, etc. is a little like us Americans celebrating the Fourth of July, or even our favorite football team winning a game. It’s a community coming together to celebrate common ideals, interests, and history.
