SO Joseph was sent home for swearing by a teacher that has no idea if he actually was swearing, because it was a language she didn't understand? So do children speaking verbal foreign languages get in trouble too- because they might be swearing and the teacher doesn't understand.
@@wtrujillo9250 it doesn’t matter, she can at least listen. She accused Joseph of swearing he was using sign and then said he shouldn’t use languages the teachers can’t understand. That’s out of order, that is a teacher who expects every child to be like everyone else, sign isn’t just for deaf people. People who have speech problems or on the spectrum can also benefit from sign.
Teachers like her would be, if she taught Gemma and Paul then she’s “from a different time” as they like to say, when there wasn’t as much much access for disabled children as there is now
@@carlinthomas9482 Even if she's taught to accommodate students disabilities, that doesn't mean she, as an individual, is free of bias, be it ableism, or the more personal bias where she presumes Joseph's misbehaving because he's Gemma's stepson.
@@emmabyrne9274 We will never know since this story is complete fiction. No one is free from bias, not even self righteous and supercilious English girls.
there is nothing wrong with sign language it should be taught in all schools because it gives people who are deaf another way to communicate and it's fun to learn
Does Coronation Street writers feel that they have to tackle every single noble cause that is out there? ~ I have news for them. No, they don’t have to, and as a viewer, I don’t always need a lecture or see the woke culture slowly seeping into all the storylines.
Gemma Admits Her Own Mum Back Day She Was Young Every Time Something She Talk About Mrs York Went She Always Thought it Was Me She Tell Her About Paul He Was Crossing The Line We Haven't Done Anything Wrong She Tell Berine This Time I Was Trashing The Classroom Peaceful Mrs York Had Enough She Tell Chesney Had She To Locked Bernie Gemma Teach Their Lesson Barricade By Door They're Can Stay in The Classroom Overnight Gemma Was Absolutely Shocked She Didn't Konw Going To Happened She Looks at Chesney Window
Oh yeah saying that a language that would help a person to communicate and navigate the world should be taught in schools because a good education and being able to communicate freely is a basic human right is so "woke". It's not like that teacher is going against the Equality Act 2010 where disability is a protected characteristic. Oh yeah she actually is. I really hope you never end up in a situation in life where either yourself or a close loved one end up with a disability. maybe then you will learn empathy and basic human decency.
Berine Konws Teacher Year Back She Used Be Gemma Paul Teacher Years ago Miss York She Didn't Pick Gemma Paul They're Constantly in Detention Because They were Badly Behaved Looks Like Nothing Changed Gemma Was Staring at Her Mrs York She Konws Her Past And She Tell Berine I"ve Had Enough Of Your Family Troublemaker To Last Lifetime
@@wtrujillo9250 Chesney is pretty much the manager of Prima Donner and already works all the hours going. How much more do you expect him and Gemma to work? And BSL should be taught as standard in all schools and educational settings. It is was more important than stuff like French or German. Disability is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. And in your day to day life you are far more likely to encounter a person who is deaf or hard of hearing more than you are likely to encounter a French person or a German person. I regret never learning BSL. I have worked in hospitality for the last 4 years and have encountered deaf and hard of hearing people and this was during the time of Covid when we had to wear masks and not knowing BSL made life way harder for all involved. for me as a staff member and for the customer.
Again the teacher is right. That family is just trouble and always asking for special help. If she wants help for her child then get another job, talk to the council or do the after school class at her place..... nope that family is 'owed' big time by the world. I think the word used nowadays is 'entitled'.
Aled is deaf. The whole family know British Sign Language to help him communicate. British Sign Language should be taught in schools and educational settings. It's not "Entitlement" it's basic human rights. disability is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010 meaning that the teach is in the wrong to stop Joseph using sign language and preventing the possible future where Aled would not be able to communicate. It is blatant discrimination.
@@lucypreece7581 Aled is deaf, but Joseph is not. Joseph was not communicating with Aled, Joseph was in school. In this instance Joseph's signing had no impact on Aled. Was Joseph signing to a deaf/hard of hearing child? if not then there was no need for him to be signing. From the sound of it Joseph signing during class. The teacher was wrong for assuming Joseph was swearing, but there is a time and a place for everything. If Joseph was signing in class then he deserved to have a punishment fitting as if he was verbally speaking.
@@jaydebolton6414 the whole family sign. It isnpretty much a second language to then all now. And yes he is hearing but out in the real world not everyone is. What if say an Asian child was teaching non Asian class mates words in their native language? Would that be bad because the child is not arpund their family who speak that language? Teaching other people something is not bad. Whatvif Joseph's classmates get jobs in the healthcare sector or in hospitality or custimer service? What donyou expect people to do when they encounter deaf or hard of hearing hearing peope in the real world? And also go watch the movie CODA. It gives an insight into what it is like for hearing people living with deaf family members.
