Im watching these in 2024. They are so much better than the current show. Great storylines and real acting. They definitely don't make them like this anymore 🎉
The good old days of Coronation Street - the Rovers snug, Ena Sharples being accommodated by the ratepayers for doing nothing, Albert Tatlock mentioning that he fought in WW1, Len Fairclough acting the ladies man and Don Brennan masquerading as a scaffolder.
Actor George Waring as Cllr Tattersall, returned in 1980 to play Emily's bigamous husband Arnold Swain, and Geoff Hinsliff, one of the conmen who sweet talks Bet Lynch, reappeared 10 years later in 1986 as Ivy Tilsley's second husband Don Brennan. More Corrie recycling of actors!
Glad u said all that, i did no, but i never knew there names, so i cldnt say anytg, but glad u have bec ause its amazing how we let them get away with it and didnt mind because they did it that good, thats how some people didnt even know. 🤔😊
Peter Armitage playing another character rather than Bill Webster. Not in the building but the decorating trade. Some comical scenes in these episodes especially with Stan and Eddie brewing their own beer and the bath. Also the gentleman who played Arnold Swain is in this playing a caretaker character who was also quite a devious fellow.
15:09 - "I explained all that to Missus Thingummybob" 🤣😂🤣😂 Honestly Albert does make me laugh my socks off. What legends they all were. Strange seeing Arnold Swain as a councillor mind you 🤣
Betty Turpin at 20 minutes. “ Black & White Minstrels, they were my Cyril’s favourite “. I hope that the three black people at the bar were not offended. Today, they would shut The Rovers down, and send Betty on a diversity course.
The world changes (thank god). This was getting on for half a century ago, and is very good social history. 70s Britain was in many ways a very grim place.
I love watching the classic Corrie from back in the day. 1:44:50 I love these quick head-turn moments of Annie Walker when she’s either annoyed or being dismissive.
Len wandering around with his ludicrous high waisted trousers and shirt flapping open to the belly is just awful….and the way he says daaaahlin to every woman is so grating 😖
Eric the criminal in this episode is the future Mrs Tilslies husband? Not the first time they have recycled actors. Inspector Mr Tatesles in this episode is the future Mr Emily Bishop.😊
Susie is right them students dont wash or change their clothes - smelly socks and feet and as far as their underpants go the mind boggles -They really are disgusting - I always fumigate the bedroom and bathroom the next morning once they have gone
