and also by knowing... In essence, EPA says the following about the carcinogen Ethylene Oxide: “EPA classified ethylene oxide as a human carcinogen in December 2016. Studies of workers show that their exposures to ethylene oxide are associated with an increased risk of cancers of the white blood cells (the infection-fighting cells of the immune system). Studies also showed an increased risk of breast cancer in females.” “Evidence in humans indicates that long-term exposure to ethylene oxide increases the risk of cancers of the white blood cells, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma, myeloma, and lymphocytic leukemia. Studies also show that long-term exposure to ethylene oxide increases the risk of breast cancer in females.” “EPA, as well as the International Agency for Research on Cancer and the National Toxicology Program, classifies ethylene oxide as carcinogenic to humans. Evidence in humans indicates that exposure to ethylene oxide by inhalation increases the risk of lymphohematopoietic cancers (including non-Hodgkin lymphoma, myeloma, and lymphocytic leukemia) and, for females, breast cancer. EtO is mutagenic (i.e., it can change the DNA in a cell). Children may be more susceptible to the harmful effects of mutagenic substances.”
There weren ' t any subtitles on this video so for those who need subtitles , I ' ll write down what he said : First clean your hands with some alcohol gel and then open the sample container . Remove the sample container and place in the holder on trolley 1 . Undo the sample container . Next it ' s time to do your swabbing . We need a deep swab of both your throat and your nose just using one swab . So the idea is to get the cotton tip at the end on both tonsils and then right to the back of your nose . So first of all the swab goes into your throat , first on one side and then the other . If it ' s a properly taken swab , you should gag . Next it ' s time to swab your nose so the swab goes into the bottom of the nose and is pushed back as far as it can go until you hit resistance and then turned around and then the same for the other nostril . Right to the back of the nose until resistance is felt and then turned around . It ' s normal for you to tear up at this point . Don ' t touch the end of the swab but lower it into the sample container . There ' s a black line on the swab that indicates where it should break so bend the swab against the side of the container and it should snap off and then replace the lid , turning it tightly .

@@afchzino if you gag when doing the mouth one then you’re doing it right. It’s not that bad but I find the nose test annoying because I really struggle to get it far up my nose lol
Apparently for kids or something they let them spit into a tube and test them that way but apparently results aren’t as accurate that way. Other than that... no easier way. I honestly didn’t think it was okay to shove things that far up your nose.... I’ve always been told that you are not supposed to shove things up your nose or in your ears.... but i guess you are!?
I am taking a swab and spit test to send in for evaluation as part of the process to see if spit tests are accurate enough to replace the swab tests. I was chosen at random so I imagine there are thousands of us in Britain that are part of it so it is definitely a real possibility that we may only have to spit in a pot some time in the near future, it all just depends on the results they get.
I’m going to have to do this twice a week for school, so thank god I have an idea to know how to do this. Edit: I’ve been tested and it was really easy. The worst thing was the gag and even that itself wasn’t bad. To be honest the worst thing must have to be the waiting.

Watched a nurse do this to a guy and she just shoved it into his nose the whole thing was almost up his nose, You sure people are being trained properly for this?
NO NO no....you're right. Yes that's the test but it's all how it's done and that takes a bit of time to acquire that skill. It isn't just how deep even though it is of course but it has to follow a downward path to get it right. I've never had anything up my nose so it just creeps me out for some reason. The training is very important just like you said.

Just did mine it was uncomfortable more than it was painful, like a feather tickling the inside of your nose, makes you tear up a bit and sneeze after.
I work at a nursing home for veterans and we have to get tested. Im scared 😭 Update: I’ve been tested for COVID 4 times since. It doesnt bother me anymore.
I found the test to be uncomfortable, maybe even slightly painful. There was a burning sensation in my nose when they got in deeper with the swab which I would describe as a litte painful. It could maybe be that the test is more painful if you're mucus membranes are already irritated due to allergies, infections or other things, I don't know for sure though. In addition to that I felt like sneezing and my eyes teared up. It was over in a short time and definitely not something that I wouldn't do again just because of the pain and discomfort. It's less painful than when someone hits a tendon or nerve while doing a blood test, which can happen sometimes.
I don’t know if its the same for all schools but at my school we are having lateral flow tests, which is where the stick doesn’t go up your nose it just swabs your nostrils. So hopefully that helps :)
Is your lower brain still tickling? If so, go get your long nosed needle nose pliers and ...... if no tickle, it's dissolved into your temporal lobe. Good luck.
I've been socially distancing, staying at home as much as possible, wearing a mask and using hand sanitiser as much as possible. I still need to get one of these done tomorrow UPDATE: It was actually too bad. I didn't hurt, but it felt hella uncomfortable. I'd definitely prefer NOT to repeat it, but it shouldn't hurt

for anyone who's scared, don't be. it's just a weird tickle sensation that may be mildly uncomfortable for some. for me i didn't make a face or flinch even though it was first ever covid test, i just cried a little beforehand because my parents instigated my nerves. but trust me it's over in only 5 seconds and you don't even have to do much. just tilt your chin upwards, relax, and count to 5 and you'll be on your way. what helps is making small talk so you don't think about what's happening. i hope this helps somewhat and i hope all goes well for you, good luck bestie and stay safe! :)

VINCE Ŷ ASSASIN hahaha I did it myself and on the instructions it said if you feel some resistance that is where you stop and it shouldn’t hurt. It felt really weird though
I've always had really dry mucous membranes, and the spit test was the worst one for me, lol. Took me almost an hour to get enough spit in that vial. I'm on here seeing how to administer the home test as we speak.. I'm triple vaccinated but I believe my child brought it into our home. almost ready to go lay down. Headache is the worst symptom
I just did this test today, I was yes scared. The pharmacist game me all information I needed to know. She explained everything detailed. She game me a brown bag, with two bags. One was a ziplock bag with a test tube, and swap in a package. The other bag had a sanitized wipe. The process: I inserted the swap up my nostril, I rotate it for 15 seconds. It’s a weird discomfort feeling. Once I took it out from my right nostril I started sneezing my chest was hurting horrible, and my eyes got super watery. When I did my left nostril, the same thing happened. I sneezed really hard my chest started hurting and my eyes started watering. After I inserted the swap in the tube, and broke the little end. I closed the tube. I placed my test in a box. I cleaned the box with the wipe I was given. I get my results in 24 hours. Edit:: I tested positive
I'm getting tested today, precisely in two hours ffs... My anxiety is up here making me short of breath and my heart is racing!!! Fuck I hate things going up me 🤣🤣

I just had it... And I'm commenting this for everyone who feels scared.. i just want to start of by saying DO NOT be afraid... Yes you can feel pain... But trust me it's bearable IF and only if you stay put and let them do their thing, because that way, it will be done QUICKER... And I don't want to do it again if I have to be honest but It's bearable guys, trust me and yourself.... just waiting for the results now...
I‘m waiting for the results too! I agree, it dosen’t "hurt" but it dosen’t feel good either? My eyes got watery for a few seconds but after that I was so glad it was done. It honestly wasn’t THAT bad

Hey! l was recently swabbed. I am in MI. They didn't not swab my tonsils, they only swabbed one side of my nose. I can tell you that for me it didn't hurt really, but was just annoying more than anything else. They timed the swab and did it for 30 seconds. I promise it's not too bad. Just annoying and itchy is all. Just ask them to be gentle and try and not move. They had me tilt my head back and she put it in in that position. You're nose we will feel itchy, kinda like there's a bit of water up it for like a half an hour afterwards. Your eyes will tear a bit. She took the swab out after the timer went off and the biggest tear ran down my cheek haha. You've got this! No swab is worth quitting your job for. Breathe through your mouth while they do it. You're gonna do great!
You'll be okay. I'm getting COVID tested today, but I'm not worried, as I've had more invasive tests -- including a tiny tubular camera probed all the way up my sinuses and then some by an ENT, to investigate a different issue. It will make your eyes water and you will briefly feel uncomfortable but not much more. All the best.
hey army!! how about listen to some bts music while u get it done?? just put on some headphones close ur eyes and it'll be over before u know it . it's better safe than ever i'm sure the boys will want you to be healthy. take the test!!! i'm nervous as well i'm shaking while typing this but it's better to be healthy. good luck my friend
Having agreed to participate in a covid-related study by Ipsos Mori on behalf of Imperial College London and the NHS, I was really anxious about doing the self swab. However, I watched this demonstration once and then replayed it and did my test along with the nice doctor. It was a piece of cake! And instead of tearing up when it came to the nose, that part just made me sneeze a lot. I did focus on breathing through my nose while swabbing my throat and I think that helped. Honestly, it was easier than I'd expected.
Just done the self test swab, thought i was strong enough not to cry or cough, wrong thought wrong, tears came out and cough too. Hope not to do it again...
OMG, having to do this on myself today. Just watching the video makes me cringe and get an upset stomach for some reason. Had a hard time watching. ughhhh
I've watched the video and feel quite relieved about having to do this to myself and I'm a scaredy cat ..he even says up the nose untill you feel restraint it's a few minutes out of your day.
Thanks! I just did the delta variant covid test for free. There were a few Korean nurses and doctors standing outside of a Japanese store (Daiso) in a Korean shopping center. They were nice but not helpful on the how-to part. I watched this video and then asked them how to do it and I was shown how to by one of the volunteers Korean girls and that way I knew just what to do because it can depend on the type of test you’re doing. Buena suerte todos!
Done it myself, but only for the nostrils. If it's the first time, push it gently until you hit resistance, then turn and touch the back and upper side. Breathe through your mouth at this point, very slowly. Doing it fast is hardly bearable.

Spit is saliva, which is secreted by the salivary glands in the oral cavity. The testing needs mucus from the mucous membranes of the pharynx. It's hard to understand the difference if you haven't taken an Anatomy and Physiology class
@@stvrrydreamz i was just trying to explain the difference between spit and mucus. I am in the medical field. If you have a lung disorder, the mucus of the pharynx (tube that goes down to your lungs) or sputum (mucus produced from lung irritation/inflammation) from the lungs is tested for bacteria or viruses to identify it and to determine which antibiotic/antiviral is needed to combat the illness. When you sneeze, the fine mist spraying out may contain some saliva, but it is the mucus from deeper inside toward the lungs that contains the most bacteria/virus. You are most likely to get accurate test results if the mucus is tested (not saliva). I hope that helped a little.
@@robloxog6713 Listen to me please. People sometimes don't have the skills to say what they really feel. I haven't had it done, but I work with doctors everyday. The patients say it simply makes them tear up but not from pain. No one says it hurts, but it does make them feel uncomfortable and would like to be doing something else right now, but it isn't pain. You can wait and get a blood test with a prick of a needle and many have antibody tests now that are done in 15 minutes (results) with a prick of the finger and no one is supposed to be charged for these tests. Go to another doc that has the much easier tests maybe is an option but I wish you nothing but best wishes and know you'll make it in great shape with no pain.

idk how the guy did it himself, i got it done and it hurt like hell. i only got it up the nose on both nostrils, but my doctor went so far that it felt like my ears were underwater and she was scraping my brain. it hurts while it's there but once it's out, you already forget what it felt like
it didn't really hurt for me my eyes just started watering I got tested today but the second nostril she went really far and I felt like my nose was gonna start bleeding but thankfully it didn't
I had the test done because I had fever and felt like I was hit by a bus. Went to a drive in clinic and had done, but my fever got worse, so I had it done the same day in the clinic. At the clinic, they went up farther in my nose, a little uncomfortable, but not painful. The first test that they barely went up my nose came back negative, while the one done deeper came back positive. So, when tested, better to be uncomfortable and right then not.
Guys, I'm 14 yrs old and I took mine today just to check to be safe, and what I can say from the experience, it's actually not bad it just feels like a little burn.
Hi everyone, I had mine done today and I’m 14 personally I thought the mouth one was worse because I’ve got a bad gag reflex, the nose one felt weird but certainly didn’t hurt, it’s more of a burn/tickle and it made me laugh and tear up , good luck everyone :)
nose thing isn't pleasant but not too bad. Doesn't go up as far as many videos and images show and it's very quick. I didn't even tear up. Not trying to sound tough, just providing reassurance for those anxious about having it done. The mouth swab was a piece of cake. Not everyone has to have their tonsils swabbed. I didn't and this was performed by a professional at Reading Hospital. Didn't even gag once.
I had private surgery yesterday under local anaesthetic and was talking to the surgeon throughout and he said he couldnt beleive how some of his former colleagues where thinking. And that they've basically forgotten everything they've learned about viruses.
I was super scared because I saw videos of the reallllyy long swab thing that they stick up your nose and it looks like it hits your brain or something lol. but I had exactly the same thing in the video done to me today and it wasn't as bad as I thought! (and I'm really sensitive with throat swab tests & things like that!) but it honestly wasn't nearly as bad as the videos make it seem! I was nervous before but was shocked at how easy and quick it was. it just really burned in my nose and my eyes watered a lot. wasn't even painful, done SO fast in like 5 mins and just burned a lot for like 15 mins afterwards. waiting for my results now! good luck everyone! and stay safe ❤
@@Mei-pt9on aw, glad this was able to calm you down a bit! I totally understand having anxiety and being nervous beforehand. Its definitely nerve-wracking in & of itself! but my personal experience was surprisingly quick and not painful, just a bit uncomfortable. how did your experience go? 🙂
I can't believe some people are actually afraid of this test, it is the quickest painless test I've ever seen, I've put a swab deep down my nose sometimes when I have inflamed sinuses and it isn't painful.
i got tested once and it hurt SO SO SO BAD. They had to try each nostril twice. Mind you, i usually have a high tolerance to pain (sutures were a breeze). It might have had to do with the fact that i have severe allergies and my turbinates were probably hypertrophied (swollen), so it probably won't be as bad for the rest of you
Update: I just got swabbed again yesterday, and it didn't hurt at all!! I prepped for the swab with a couple of things though - Drank antihistamines (Cetirizine) and an NSAID (Ibuprofen) 2 hours before my swab, and used a nasal spray (nasonex). Did not hurt at all compared to the first time!
Watching this and seeing the doctor gag and tear up makes me feel less alone because I did the same thing and my tears even fell on the table 😅 My nostril still feels funny but it's only been about 2 hours since my test
For those of you freaking out... don't. It's not too bad... theres just slight pain and you may tear up and sneeze and cough a bit, and it might even burn a little, but it goes by really fast. Don't worry if your nose bleeds a little after, mine did. If you're scared, just calm down... this isn't the worst thing in the world. Its better than getting the virus.
My wife just had this done, All they did was swab her throat. Her test came back negative. But she has a severe headache, nose runs, congestion, fall asleep setting up, hacking cough, extreme fatigue, low grade fever, hair loss, loss of taste, smell, nausea, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches and pains, chills, truly feel like a truck is parked on her chest, can't walk up 6 steps or 10 feet without gasping for air. How can she test negative when every symptom screams Covid.
Just done mine, my god I couldn’t stop gagging I’m glad I opted for a home test having someone else do this when I’m autistic would not have ended well
