Daily flights to Italy and Spain in March, big events like Cheltenham, football matches......no restrictions to people coming in, no testing, no PPE for front facing staff like bus drivers, poor PPE for hospital staff, one of the few countries where virtually nobody wears masks .... a weak lockdown overall
Cause you think people from China didn’t go to U.K. at the same time when they had already went to other European countries ? By the way the first registered case in Europe was a German person in Germany .who was working with a Chinese woman from Wuhan who had just came back from Wuhan .
@@LOL-pw5ji it's ridiculous I work at a garden centre and we are expected to go back to work in the coming days it gets insanely busy and while we do have some procedures in place I still don't think it's safe. it definitely won't be possible to social distance.
What a strange and horrible time. I clearly remember the day Boris was admitted to intensive care. I walked around my garden, anxious and unable to sit down, I was certain he wouldn't survive and I recall the feeling of this virus being out of control and no person, however important, could be protected. I wondered if my two young children (1 and 5 at tge time) would ever return to having a normal childhood where they went to school and saw their friends. The thought that they may not made me feel physically sick and it felt bizarre that things taken for granted were so far out of reach. I couldn't sleep at night and would often go out walking by myself for hours, just trying to take my mind off it
@@shakeybeatz Mostly with it, especially if they had underlying health conditions, but it’s also about other diseases other than Covid like heart disease, cancer etc
Was that before Boris said it will run it’s course? Then the panic when China started to get a handle on it. His hesitation cost us dearly, we were shown to be 1-2 weeks behind the curve. I thought it was inevitable at the time but when missed cobra meetings and pandemic response plans were cut/suspended it started to look like a scared government looking to cover their ass and reacted by throwing money at the economy to ensure they gave more support than that in other countries, notably Germany... the conservative governments since the Brexit referendum really don’t understand their responsibility to the country, we deserve better. We used to be an example to the world on being led by great statesmen, now we despise them for minor slights and prefer salesmen with nothing to sell.
You just know, whatever the Conning servatives tackle, its all going to go tits up.Sat here in South West France, waiting for the end of the transition period when it stops being a slanging match and gets serious.
This all feels so surreal looking back to the start, how quickly the situation changed. We've lived through history and I'll never forget where I was when they announced pubs would close the ended of the night and then lockdown was announced for the first time. Almost doesn't feel real.
I was working in a pub when it was announced soon as it finished the pub emptied and we shut the pub 2 days later I got laid off. And remember walking home and there was no one around. It was so surreal
Announced by whom? A minister never announced it. Many people are confused on this. It initially came up when the CSO answered a specific question from the media, and within that answer he talked about herd immunity. Among other things he went on to say it naturally happens to some degree no matter what you do. No one put it into policy, it was merely something put on the table among everything else by the Scientists.
Fear, control and manipulation. People couldn’t think for themselves because of the brainwashing of the media, which resulted in conflict and disbelief. Too many people scared to leave the house because of the lies. I’m glad you’re calling it out.
Complete doublespeak from Johnson answering Starmers indictment on the total failure to protect the aged, frontline workers while raising large amounts for charities that have members that pay between 1k to 5k to get a bit of the action. Look up the list of NHS charities together then look at their members. I'll say no more as yet
This goverment should resign they are responsible for the death of so many that they didn't protected Or might even didn't want to protect despite their duty
Keep strong buddy, it’s not over yet. But our country has faced hardship and horror before and in the end we always survive. Chin up. There are brighter days to come
@@totally_a_spy true and IV VITAMIN C is killing this virus faster , cheaper and FAR , FAR , FAR safer in CHINA AND NYC than Ventilators - only about a 13% survival rate ... very bad outcome , maybe that's why Boris wasn't put on one ???
@@siobhanpaterson4668 Hah the wonders of modern science and technology! No test for the virus that can give a result within hours, hence the need to quarantine people coming into the country for 14 days. There is a proven approach to reducing transmission as operated in S Korea which had it's first registered cases before the UK, population 51 million, deaths so far 246. UK population 65 million deaths so far 32,000. UK refusal to use same tech as S korea provided through Google and Apple we'd rather trust China to provide our tech!
There isn't a vaccine yet, herd immunity is where the majority is immune to the disease and cannot spread it but due to the fact that we can have the disease and spread it without knowing we have the disease and the fact that no one is immune yet herd immunity is not a factor until a vaccine is created
At this stage, I pay no more attention to the conflicts or arguments between countries now... My only hope is that everyone in this world could survive and never leave their loved ones...No matter it’s Africa or Asian or Europe, even if it’s China, I hope everyone is fine...
It wasn't the end of January it came to the UK... We got hit by it back in late November, the governments just didn't share information in Nov and Dec until it got bigger in China that it couldn't be avoided mentioning and China themselves also hid it from the rest of the world and still allowed planes to leave their country. Lots of people locally including myself got ill at the end of December and new year with a corona based virus with extreme fevers and chested coughs that left pneumonia symptoms. After visiting my family locally (No one had travelled long distance or countries) I became very weak and my voice went horsey, the next day I went into a high temperature which included very strong muscle and bone aches. I would sleep for 12 hours be awake in pain for an hour take meds and go to sleep. This lasted 6 days and from there my chest became worse continuously coughing up flem from my lungs which took 3 weeks before finally ending. Due to how severe it was I didn't go outside the whole of January to avoid spreading to my friends, only after recovering finding out about Covid-19 "entering" the UK. Completely willing to take antibody test if given, I haven't had any symptoms for anything since that date. It could give more insight into how far the virus moved and adjusting currently known data values
@@UltraHylia That would be because for most it barely develops past a cough and the fever can go unnoticed, given it was around in winter it went under the radar as just an common cold. Even if you can't feel you can trust news reports, you take the information at arms length. Ignoring the governments isolation efforts is like there being a lump of brown on the table and someone saying to you "I thought it was chocolate but don't be fooled, it's actually shit" and you walk over and eat the shit without attempting other senses first. It's kind of on you for eating said shit. But in this case eating said shit now means you have 'cooties' on the playground and anyone you touch is now infected with 'I ate some shit'

Maybe they should have furloughed airlines and supported them and staff, stopped the virus at the borders. Instead they furloughed millions.. plus the rest of the shit.
Now that more people are dying in the uk media are finally putting more attention on their own country instead of making only super depressing services on Italy like if it was a third world country 🤦🏻♂️
It's unfair people blaming this on Boris Johnson. Yes, we did go into lockdown a bit later than other countries but despite that, we can't be compared to other countries death tolls. There are so many factors to take into account, age range, population density and there's a lot about the virus that no one knows. Such as the ideal temperature, humidity etc... If every country went into lockdown at the same time, we would see big differences in death tolls. No country would be anywhere near the same.
@@lionheadable what about spanish influenza and H1N1? should America pay? there is uncountable pandemic show up in many country, should they pay too? spread is how a pandemic working in modern world. no one can stop it, only postpone it and we did our job well.
100 days and we still haven't had any clarification on how many people have died WITH the virus and how many have died BECAUSE OF the virus. When 'suspected' cases are recorded as covid 19 deaths, without testing and when people who present with symptoms aren't always tested, we have no idea of the mortality or infection rates. A way of controlling the population, or just plain incompetence, or willful deceit? Whichever it is, this whole affair has been a disaster for the economy and for grieving families, who have little idea of the cause of their loved ones' deaths.
@@butterflyn6525 they can't say because they automatically record a death as covid 19 if someone looks like they 'might' have it. Since the symptoms are similar to other respiratory infections, any 'diagnosis' is a guess. Not all patients are tested (for example, in care homes, a doctor will make an assessment of the cause of death, with no test carried out). Even if someone has a test and it tests positive, that doesn't automatically mean that's the cause of death. If you want some impartial information, please go to the ONS website.
When the first lockdown occurred I was finishing university for half term, thinking I would hopefully be back in about two or three weeks time. It was at least a year and a half before I was properly allowed back in my uni, mental man.
I'm finding it really hard to keep 2 meters away from people. I live in the middle of nowhere so I've had to travel to busier places to make sure i can be 2 meters away from people.....
Look at how he takes care of himself, always looks like he got out of bed... and people expect this guy to lead the nation during its worst crisis......
Idk about this, January 11th-February 4th I had all symptoms of the Virus and had lost my sense of taste and smell. I thought it was just a horrible cold that caused pain. I took an antibody test (months later) and said I was exposed at some point. I can’t imagine anywhere else I could’ve got it from since I work from home constantly and don’t leave my house for any need. Besides when I went to School in early January. I’m sure it was here before it was confirmed

@Albert Pike somehow so many people have died, and not just elderly with underlying health issues but also children and teenagers, professor Pike. Tell that to people whos relatives lost lives suffering from the virus
The figure of 100,000 tests was accepted as the figure quoted by this government. If the BBC look a bit more thoughoughly on answering the question of tests it was stated that 10 then 25 thousand tests, then by the end of April 250,000 test would be done.
You have to listen before you can spot the lies !!?!! Looking at various websites and other media stuff does not call for any listening. I just sift the data then say notice a certain company recently located to Coventry or listed their business there for example ;P
Went grocery shopping yesterday. The store employees wore masks. 50% of customers were wearing masks and less than that wearing gloves. Many not respecting social distancing. I saw people bringing their kids shopping. What ? Stay safe, stay home, wash hands, wear masks, keep social distance, wash surfaces. All businesses need to do more to protect workers. Provide and require masks, separate employees, test employees.
the virus can live for up to 72 hours on plastic gloves - longer than on almost any other surface. Masks may keep the virus contained in the person who's infected, but that person will be breathing in their own carbon dioxide and may also suffer from viral overload, which can be fatal. I bet not one person who wears a mask does it to protect others, but they're no good at protecting YOU from someone who's infected. Stay home if you wish - more space in cafes and bars for the rest of us.
I mean this is why they started colonising other lands in the first place, because of the economic crisis. They will do it again under the guise of "foreign aid".
@@iamnotanumber100 clearly, you don't watch the pmq's nor the live reports. Boris will be making a speech Monday about the new phases and lighter restrictions on the public. Just shows you the split between the selfish and greedy, then the people that care without infringing on other peoples rights. Bet you are the latter of the two, who will say "but that old man should be indoors, so I don't have to distance" lacking the common sense to even think beyond yourself.
People got a wrong idea after the government announced two days ago that lockdown will be lifted instead of in stages, all at once. But fortunately now they've thought about it and hopefully they'll make a right decision
streetbasser786 you’ve clearly never been in a meeting before. It’s hard enough to get two people to agree that work in the same company. Imagine putin and trump trying to play happy families for this ‘new world order’. America can’t even run their own country properly let alone the bloody world 😂

I largely believe Johnson when he said at PMQ that the decision were taken in the interest of the country. to the best of his ability and knowledge. It just proves how incapable and ignorant he and the Cabinet he gathered around him really is.
I can imagine in five years we'll all be living under a city of domes, like center parcs or something, an artificially oxygenated world like Blade Runner where we have to stay, shielded from new virus that mutate each year, everyone skint and dependant on an authoritarian dictatorship, you'll watch lunar winds blowing toilet paper around outside behind the glass and dream of the days you could go to the shops and a cafe for a tea and cake....sci fi movies have been priming us for this misery

waiting until march to shut things down cost a lot of lives, and public transport was one of the main spreaders of the virus, plus not telling people simple steps like cleaning their shopping and not to wear face covering only made things worst

W T F does it take a committee of professors to tell us this, Mr Trump all is forgiven.
I don’t think there was point to have a lockdown as a lot of people don’t listen to distancing and we don’t do all of this when some people have the flu.
