CORONAVIRUS PANIC BUYING IN THE UK 

Am I the only one who's not going crazy over stocking up with toilet roll hand sanitizer bleach or anything, I'm just going on with my day...

Having a cupboard in the kitchen full of bags is such a British thing! I have one 😂

It’s crazy how people are buying hand sanitizer like they never washed their hands before the virus happened 👀

I have a winter cough iv had it for the last 3 winters, and we went shopping the other day and I coughed outside the supermarket and a woman's head spun round like she was in a horror film lol 🤣😷

Anything with the words “anti-bacteria” on products are sold out everywhere in my local food and bargain shops.

Crazy really cause people genuinely are running low on normal products for everyday use and can’t get them because people are stock buying for no reason

People are being very selfish. Just buy what you need and if heaven forbid you do get the corona virus and need to self isolate do an online shop and have them leave it outside the door.

It's ridiculous that people are panic buying😂😂😂! Even if a person has to go into self isolation, others can drop off shopping at the door. I certainly will not be stocking up on anything 🙂

We was talking about this. If I had to he self isolated I would order online for a home delivery and tell them to leave it outside the door

I work in Asda in a city and we have had huge issues with levels of stock, we’ve been practically sold out of all cleaning products, toilet roll, pasta, rice, tins, soap, hand wash, sanitizer etc. It’s really hard for us as everyone’s moaning at us as if it’s our fault!

LOL I love how the media said NOT to panic buy but people have done it anyway. Well done, Media, you're very good at fearmongering. I really think this is some sort of ploy to make people buy a lot more of things they don't need and just spend more money.

Rascal and friends nappies are brilliant, my little boy was soaking through everything we tried especially overnight until we switched to them. They’re chemical free too.

Keep your car topped up on petrol/diesel, only a matter if time before that becomes the next panic buy. Tax on it might also be going up this Wednesday.

I live in a little town about 50miles from London. Nearly all the shelves are empty. I went shopping the other day for my grandmother who's 73 and has dementia. I didn't want to go crazy like everyone else, but at the same time she's going to have to self isolate. She doesn't have the mental capacity to call someone to bring her supplies. Stocking up at least a little is a must. To anyone who thinks panic buying is sensible, please think of other people. I was unable to feed my gran because of your actions.

I think it's ridiculous, I mean people like myself who are mostly housebound , and on benefits who can't go out often and also on low incomes on their own ,like me . I live in Nottingham where there’s quite a few comfirmed cases and In my local Asda there was limited toilet roll absolutely no hand soap and no sanitizer

I'm in Ipswich and we have no hand sanitizer anywhere 😂, managed to get some hand-wash though. My local Aldi was also out of baby wipes 😕

here in australia every single shop is out of toilet paper, same with flour, tissues, hand sanitizer, tin food, baby food everything! they had to limit it to one per customer to stop people over buying!

In South Yorkshire there is hardly any stock of anything. Hardly any toilet roll or hand soap.

My mum went shopping in Iceland today an apparently everyone in the stores trolleys were full and loads of people were getting frozen foods oh and apparently in the morning there’s tons of food but in the afternoon there’s not much (food you can keep for a long time/stock up on)

Our Morrisons has been great so far with keeping things in stock which people rush out and buy, even saw some hand gels in late last night.

Toilet roll in my local supermarkets are running low. It’s silly really cause people are actually running low and struggling to get some. Don’t mind if people want to buy a couple of packs or whatever but people are going overboard 😩

My friends work in supermarkets and she got pushed and shoved when stocking the pasta and tissue shelves today. No respect at all.

I work at a premium supermarket in a well off small town, I work through the night and our home delivery orders have doubled in a week. We are now at Christmas amount of stock going out. Due to the lack of temps as its not usually need we are struggling to get the stock out! My advice to anyone is never be afraid to ask if there aren't any of whatever you can't find. Just because it's not on a shelf does not mean that it's not sat in a delivery cage that hasn't been able to be worked yet!

Cumbria is too chilled, quieter in the shop I work at but the only thing we are out of is Paracetamol, but we always run out. B&M ran out of loo roll and handwash last week. I stocked up and I'm "social distancing" but I actually love that😉

I went to my local Asda on Friday and they were completely out of hand sanitiser. Other customers and I were in shock when we saw the empty shelves with a sign on that said there was no hand sanitiser. As for reusable carrier bags, I have loads in my flat although I give my old grey carrier bags to Morrisons and Ocado whenever they deliver my food shops to me so I can get a bit of money off my shops.

went in to morrisons earlier with my mum and remember we only had half a bottle of soap left in the bathroom so thought we could pick a neither bottle up but there was none there wasn't even shower gel (that u could probably use as soap) but other than that everything seems to be stocked up on.

I haven’t panicked but have to say I’m finding it hard to get a lot of my usual weekly shop. Do these people who are clearing the shelves not realise we all need to wash our hands to stop this virus not just them? I hope there 90 hand sanitisers and 100 toilet rolls save them, still don’t get the toilet rolls.....

I can't believe someone would deliberately fake a cough just to get what they want in the supermarket. I practically ran out of the supermarket yesterday as I knew I had a coughing fit coming on and I didn't want to panic the whole store. I find coughing fits very embarrassing normally as it sounds like I'm choking although it is caused by a tickle or itch in my throat. I'm refusing to panic buy but am making sure that I don't completely run out of staple food items at the same time. I work with preschool children and we have to have toilet roll and anti-bac spray available at all times so this panic buying is making things difficult for use in work. Last week one of my managers was accused of panic buying anti-bac spray when restocking for work. when my manager said it was for work the accuser said we should just close then - I'm not sure our parents or the NHS who employs them would be too pleased if we did that!!!

We keep carrier bags in our glovebox we keep about 3 or 4

The home bargains I work in has zero toilet roll we fill it at 8am every day and by 10 its empty we refill it around 11 and maybe 12 its empty again

Wow I remember this! I worked in morrisons in 2020 and people went crazy in Liverpool. The shop was so full of people panic buying. I just pushed the trolley out and let the people take the stock off the trolley because ALL the Isles were empty.

In our local Poundland there still is loads of stuff... saying this whenever you go and shop in the evening around 5-6 shops shelves on normal time are empty...

boots a good ones to use or sainsbury's. I would also suggest Bach's remedy for anxiety but I also nytol.

London is empty through all my local supermarkets, even Lidl. I’ve been struggling to plan my meals for the week with things I actually like

There are confirmed cases up here .. I live in Cumbria it’s exactly the same in my area. No toilet roll, hand wash, sanitiser, anti bacterial spray was sold out too and pain relief.. paracetamol was completely out there was afew packets of ibuprofen left.. for anyone that doesn’t know like paracetamol, ibuprofen can also be used to reduce a temperature xxxx

Update: 1 confirmed case in Southampton. No confirmed cases in Southampton but Tesco's where I live is completely empty of toilet roll, pasta, rice, baked beans, peas all tinned cans etc. It is pure selfish that so many people think of themselves and not others such as disabled people, elderly, or those who are on a low income and have to scrape by week by week

For nappies, get yourself terrys towels and liners, they'll last for years. Also people are so narrow minded and pampered to long. Remember what you learnt in school about the Romans. Also dried food is better for prepping and is probably better for you without all the additives. Also get yourself a recurve bow and plenty of metal tipped arrows for when the idiots come to your house, even if you can't use it, you'll frighten the shit out of them.

My shop ran out of toilet roll 2 weeks ago. I've resorted to sliding down the banister now instead. But I wash my hands while singing GSTQ so it's ok and hygienic.
