This must be a sheer hell for these holiday makers. You look forward all year to going on your holiday and they’ve got to deal with this. Obviously we feel terrible for the people that have lost their lives
Yep. I feel a lot for the crew too... Imagine being at work at this happens. I believe all the passengers are getting a full refund plus 100% credit for another cruise. I imagine some of them are in trouble with their works...
@@EmmaCruises that''s the thing. We do a RU-vid channel also about cruises like yourself but that does not pay. It's our day job that would be a major problem. I really feel for them. And stuck in the stateroom with a bit more space than an inmate. TERRIBLE
Princess is our favourite cruise line. We've traveled often enough to receive great loyalty rewards like laundry, mini bar, free WiFi, etc. The staff have always been great. Good on them for trying to make a bad situation palatable.
Thank you Emma for taking the time to share with us. I really enjoy all of your videos and I think you have a perfect speaking voice! Plus your positive attitude always puts a smile on my face. David words were lovely thank you for sharing them.
Excellent review. Got to be one of your best Emma. It’s great that David and Sally are being so positive. I will click on their link and watch their progress. I had a client once who had one arm, no legs and was blind. He appreciated having the arm and got on with life as normal! OMG! 🤭 Feel sorry for the family of 4 sharing an inside cabin...it my wife and I shared one with our teenage daughter x 2 weeks there would be at least one death on board!!! 🙈
I’ve been following the family in the inside cabin on Instagram. I feel very bad for them and also for the crew! Also the couples who get separated if one falls ill.
This was a suggestion of my youtube feed. I wonder if you have seen the documentary on this ship? I watched it. A few of the patients gave their stories of their time in quarantine on this ship.
It's crazy to think how much the Coronavirus has escalated since this video was made. At the time it was big but that it would become a lethal pandemic!? Amen to the good attitudes. I hope passengers still aboard some of these cruise ships get home and - in many cases - treatment soon.
I was quarantined when sick once. Thankfully I was in a balcony! I know the cruiseline was really good about catering to me. They did unlimited room service, unlimited movies etc.
Such an informative video thanks Emma! When my daughter had norovirus she was confined to an inside cabin for 24 hours and that was bad enough. I can’t imagine what two weeks must be like for these people! 😭
Royal and Norwegian's restrictions do sound extreme, but there are many Chinese people bragging on social media about how they lied and got through customs.
Passport is one thing but where has the person been the past several weeks is counted. Like NCL placing origin of country as one screening factor is a little over. RC has lifted that as criteria is on the right track in my mind. God bless all under quarantine specially to those confined in inside cabins or those soon to run out medicine supply, hope they can all go home soon.
Are you talking about the westerdam? There are no cases reported so far on the westerdam despite coming from Hong Kong. Despite this, she is not being allowed to dock anywhere.
Emma Cruises there has been 4 ships quarantined 1st was off Italy but no people ended up having the virus and they let them go home, next was World Dream, next was Diamond Princess, other one was Royal Caribbean docked at Bayonne NJ they ended up with 4 passengers sick but it was flu and they tested negative for corona virus
@@19dfifit66 I was on the Italian ship (Costa Smeralda) at the time. It was ok for us cos we were able to get around the ship freely and have all the food and drink as normal. Just felt bad for the people stuck in the terminal waiting to check in. We were all joking that it would be ok cos we'd get an extra 2 weeks onboard but now we've actually seen what's happened with the Diamond Princess, I'm so glad that didn't happen.
You can't imagine the costs of giving everyone thermometers & how nice that was of them? They make billions... Are you serious?! You sound so naive with all your praise for the ship. People are dying from this! Being quarantined on a ship is a prison. You're blatant disregard for the actual situation is horrible. If it was you or your family I'm sure your chipper praises would sound so different.
But they are fed and it's got a tiny idea of death camps .its not any thing; n could make son.why doesn't ship sail in circles like go around in flights look at photos of holocaust in Dachau ten or more wede in one cabin.its usually a Pensioner; past time.! Cruising.like my flat my neighbours.21years drive you mad mh neighbours didcthqt I'd no t have problem.mh neighbours harassed me day might yetvcomplai. About. Me.i was cheerful until After.maybe now selfish thoughtless council will be more protective if their tdnant.its not awfully because they don't know who is who.now hou know what I had to dndjre loud lkhd music rdlerative changing all day every day.;
Is it too soon to have a grown up discussion about the major pollutant these huge cruise ships generate. I know they might have cleaned up their air pollution footprint but they continue to pollute the seas, let alone the damaging impression on places they drop in on.
The Diamond Princess IS truly a "Flying Dutchman" kind of affair right now! I know it's very inconvenient & traumatizing for a lot of people. I like to think, if I were being treated with the concern & care that Princess is providing, I would be positive about it all. I think I'd be ok ... I'm a very laid back kind of traveler and it certainly would be a sort of "forced" vacation with yourself! You could definitely use the opportunity to do some reflection, some self-improvement & a lot of thinking. I would also do a lot of reading. I have a ton of books on my Kindle for just this sort of affair.... I don't have a real job, so I'm just totally cut out for this kind of quarantine - LOL ... well, maybe better than some. I would, however, hope to GOD that it was one of the cruises where I'd splashed out the extra money for a balcony or a suite (hmmm... quarantined in the MSC Yacht Club ... THAT might not be so bad!)!! I have also been following all David Abel's videos & find it very interesting. I feel quite bad for the crew ... especially those who are scrambling around trying to meet everyone's needs ... hopefully Princess will recognize them in some way ... maybe a little bump in the pay packet ...
@Sage Oldmann there's more to this story then what your understanding research more... common sense will give you a clue as well, answer these questions... has any country gone to these extremes to try and contain a flu virus?? No, they haven't . Has any country in history built 2 mega hospitals in just 10 days for a flu virus?? no none have. There is a certain reason why China does not want help from us or the CDC on this virus and thats because they have something to hide. Your right the numbers are not as high as the flu.... at least for now. When it goes world wide the numbers will be much different.
@Sage Oldmann Case Fatality Rate for Flu is 0.1% Case Fatality Rate for Covid 2019 is 2.3% , higher infection rate, higher complication rate and higher death rate.
They needed to get all the people OFF the ship and into HUMANE quarantine, and isolation on shore (that means isolation from others that may be infected) on day one. As of Feb 14, there are 210+ corona infections from the Diamond Princess. Clearly, more infections have occurred since the lock down started. A quarantine officer, who came on board AFTER the arrival in Japan, was infected, so additional infections are occurring. This is appalling. There had to be another way. for example, if the (inhumane) Japanese government refused to provide appropriate facilities, maybe Princess could have brought another ship and at least put everyone, including the CREW, in outside cabins so they would not be infected by the ventilation. By imprisoning the people under these conditions Princess Cruises has created the largest corona virus hot spot outside of mainland China. I can't give Princess a pass on this.
Your ignorance in thinking that the company had any choice in what to do with quarantine is surprising... they did what they were told to do by the government. If they didn't, they'd face serious jail time and fines. It would be strange to expect Carnival, a company that specializes in cruising to also be experts in disease control. From the governments perspective, the number of people in that ship is minuscule compared to how risky/bad it could get if you let them off the ship. Easy to judge when you don't have to manage an extremely difficult situation with incomplete information.
Thank you for the information. For this particular cruise ship one of 4 that are quarantined, Japanese government are doing their absolute best and giving medical care. I hope the other cruises are being as safe most of all.
This is such a sad situation for everyone. It’s good to know people are treating the situation with the best positive attitude as possible. I’m not sure if I could make it in an inside cabin for 14 days. Take care Emma
Did you see the couple who had 2 cases of wine delivered via drone - they belong to some type of wine club in Australia & get regular deliveries at home - and asked about delivering to the ship - so a drone was used to deliver (not sure if it was to their balcony or just to the dock)! The couple are very happy to have their favorite wines! Amazing what people will do to make the best of a difficult situation!
Emma Cruises - with all the new cases of the Coronavirus - I hope the Diamond Princess is offering a glass of free wine a day - to help keep the passengers calm & sane!! And awwww shucks about the drone story - that would have been amazing (although I didn’t really think it was possible).
Hi Emma, a wonderful presentation as usual. It has been reported that a number of the crew have tested positive for this virus. The virus seems to be spreading rapidly on this ship and I wonder if it is due to infected crew dealing with the food. Princess is a great cruise line and it is sad for this to happen.
I must say, I love your accent and I really enjoy your videos. I think keeping a positive attitude is amazing for these people. I would need to be medicated. I get super anxious if I'm confined to small spaces. Wishing you and everyone on these ships..much love.Thank you. Brenda💜
I booked my next cruise for Jan 22 back in Nov 19 and then rona hit. Being in Melb, the Ruby Princess was a huge thing and highlighted the others that were quarantined. And it made me worry about being stuck in my cabin. I’d booked a balcony but I upgraded to a mini suite with a bit more room and a balcony. Just in case. Plus I’m not good with crowds and need my own space.
Due to close proximity, communal dining, and confined spaces, cruse ships are a known breeding ground for infectious diseases. 🛳️🦠😷 *Cruse Ship Outbreaks:* Legionnaires disease, measles, norovirus, ebola and now Coronavirus.
Just came back from a Princess Cruise to Singapore. Princess did a great job on our ship. No viruses. They did cancel the next cruise to be on the safe side of things.
Passenger: Hello, I need some Xanax Cruise Crew: Is that your prescription Sir? Passenger: No, I am with a Toddler... Cruise Crew: Ok Sir, please don't kick your child out of the room
I can't imagine being cooped up in tiny stateroom onboard a plague ship, nothing to do, not fun, get your three squares a day, and just waiting to get off. I guess you'll always remember that vacation to hell though. BTW Emma, you have the prettiest eyes!
I seen a video of an older couple dancing in their room and they had a smile on their face. Princess is doing a great job at what is happening at the moment as well as they do a great normally anyway
@@EmmaCruises What law would you be breaking? What crime have you committed? Are there actual international laws in place for incidents like this? Or is the cruise industry just making it up as they go along?
I have also been following David and Sally. Such positivity! We have only booked inside cabins. I can not imagine being confined for so long in one. The bow channel camera would really be your only clue regarding night and day. So impressed by Princess and their compassionate handling of the situation. Thanks for sharing your view on it.
I have been on the Diamond Princess. I will NEVER cruise with them ever again. It's the most boring cruise I ever been on in my entire life. Thumb up for Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. You can't be too sure these days with this virus. I live in San Francisco and I can tell you that Chinatown is deserted because no one wants to go near any Chinese people.
@@EmmaCruises Boring in so many ways. Ever had 10 days of miso soup during lunch without changing? They only use a different pot to make you think it's a new soup The same show repeated 3 times. For a luxury cruise, they are far from what Celebrity can offer
