I was lucky enough to test this watch for the past few months. As soon as I took it out of the box, it became my daily driver. Heart rate and GPS was always spot on. AMOLED screen is beautiful in person. As always with Coros, battery life is incredible and the watch is super light. It’s honestly, the perfect watch for me, not even close.
At $500 CAD, that’s a tough sell with the Suunto Race titanium recently on sale for $550. Great review as always Dave. Full of info, but easily digested. Thanks.
@ well, in my country the price of a very fresh product is actually always higher than the default price, so I think I’m still going to wait for couple of months before spending my money on it ☺️
56% after 7 days used and run almost everyday... the battery is insanely good!!! Now I want one when they come out. I wish they have some fun color with this watch... something like light blue, red, or green.
Great to see Coros going AMOLED. I like the look of this watch and the relative lack of "smartwatch" features is actually a plus point in my book, but as a still-happy Vertix 1 user, I'm going to hang fire on upgrading until they bring out an AMOLED Vertix. :)
If the price was closer to the Suunto Race S it would be a no brainier. It puts the Apex 2 in a weird spot, because it has the same features except the more premium case and sapphire glass. Anyway good job with the review Dave 👍 .
For sure, I feel like the Pace Pro canabilized a good chunk of the COROS Lineup. Personally, I'd take a Pace Pro over an Apex 2 Pro... and in some cases even over the Vertix 2S!
This is a comment appreciating Suunto bands, as far as cool design goes no one has come close yet. I'd love to see something similar in style from Garmin.
It's funny that Garmin fans will defend the weak processor in the F8, claiming that at least the battery is good thanks to it. Just look at this Coros: you can have a fast processor AND a long battery life. There are no excuses for selling a $1k watch with a several-year-old processor.
Eh... it's not that simple. Garmin's do a lot more (NFC Payments, Streaming music, Body Battery, Training Readiness, etc...) not to mention out of the box COROS watches sample heart rate every 10 minutes which saves a TON of battery. If you switch the COROS to "Real Time" Heart rate data it basically cuts the battery life in half when you're not in an activity. Another huge difference is the maps. Yes COROS pans/zooms faster but it also lacks a lot of detail compared to a Garmin which has routeable maps and full map label/POI support. All that stuff takes extra CPU power to render. But yes, Garmin's are super expensive! But I'd argue they're sort of aimed at different markets.
@@ChaseTheSummit With your comments like this it always reminds me what a GOAT you are, how much you care about your audience. Thank you so much for such a comprehensive explanation!
@@RumbleBack-iz3tl really can't compare (any) apple watch to a sport watch like Garmin or COROS for that matter. Apple has much faster processors and way less lag but you have to charge it every 18 hours. Not really a fair comparison!
Great review, Dave. A no-frills sports-focused Amoled watch with great GNSS and OHR accuracy? Sounds like just the thing I need. I've been holding off getting a Race S. Was looking forward to the M3. But this Pace 3 seems like an ideal middle ground especially for someone like me who just runs, does cardio, and lifts weights and not much else. Previously I had decided to avoid getting a Pace 2 and Pace 3 because their builds were just.. ugh.. even $80 China-made smart watches have better subjective build quality. How's the build quality on this one? Is it more robust and feels more solid?
This is $100 cheaper and has mapping. The Garmin does have an advantage in the "health/wellness"department with things like Training Readiness and Body battery in my opinion!
400 euros on Europe and 349 dollar on the states? Pace 3 229 dollar and 249 euros was ok,now this difference I don't understand . I will stick with my pace 3, Fênix 8,7 solar and 955 🤣
@dimka11ggg every company have that excuse, however this year Garmin Fênix 8 came out with the same price here and USA, so if the brand wants,we are treated like equal. I like Coros, but 150 euros more for the same plastic build,an amoled display, a bit bigger display and a faster display is overpriced
Thanks for the review! I've never used an AMOLED display but I noticed in the video the screen would turn completely off instead of dimming. Does the always on display setting use dimming or is it the fully on look? If it's the latter, that's probably the feature I'll miss the most, being able to quickly see the time without having to do a wrist gesture
The adapter is cool but you still have to "bring something to charge it". Would have been better if it had a USB-C port. All modern phones have it with some sort of IP rating.
The problem with USB-C is it's water resistance. It's fine for phones that are moderately "splash proof" but it's not so great for watches with ATM5 water resistance for swimming. The only real answer is to move to a wireless charger like Apple or Google but then you're still carrying something around to charge it. I don't mind the little USB-C adapter on the COROS!
I'm curious to see the future of COROS. They've said in the past the MIP is "Here to stay" but I think as the market shifts and more people are in search of AMOLED watches they'll need to pivot to the demand of the users. The Pace Pro is likely a "test" for them to see how it sells but I'll bet we see more AMOLED from them soon.
Specifically with COROS I really like their Nylon bands. They're a different design compared to Garmin and I prefer it over their silicone bands. With Garmin, for whatever reason I prefer their silicone bands as the ultrafit nylon bands with the overlap design aren't my favorite. Purely subjective and my opinion though!
Looks good. The race s may be a slightly better watch at a similar price. But the question is, is it enough for people to jump ship? I hate switching systems. So this would be an option for me to consider. Will likely wait on the apex pro 3 at this point as my original pro still serves me very well. Watches made to last, not to be replaced every year. That's the coros way.
I also see them catering to different markets. The Suunto Race S has a nicer build quality and a more complex menu system along with some wellness perks like "Body Resources". COROS as mentioned in my video I view more as a "tool" that doesn't get bogged down with too much fluff or excessive features. I think most people can easily take a Pace Pro out of the box and get up and running in a few minutes while Suunto will require a slight learning curve. Both are great, it just sort of depends which type of person you are!
My question is with the running pace. On the pace 3, the pace stat was slow. It would be off alot or slow to catch up on the pace stat. Has this been fixed on the pro??
I need your input. I have been in an Apple Watch 3 but I can’t stand the battery life. I am a casual fitness guy who runs, hikes, jump rope, lifts weights and ski’s. I am trying to decide on the best bang for my buck and overall value. Heart rate accuracy and battery life matter to me along with decent gps….. Anyway, I was able to get a Garmin fénix 7 sapphire solar for 490 bucks on sale BUT it’s still in the box… since I am also researching the Amazfit T- Rex 3 and this watch. I care more about the overall value and a watch that will serve me well for a long time. I have also considered the coros vertix 2s. I do like the look of a slightly beefed up watch even tho my wrists are smalller. Which watch do you think is the best deal and value ? Should I keep the Garmin fénix 7 sapphire solar that I got at a great deal ? Or should I return it and go for the amazefit t-rex3 or a coros? Any input is greatly appreciated and thank you so much for all the great content you put out for us all
This really depends on what you're doing and what features you value. None of these sports watches will compare to an Apple watch when it comes to "smart features" like LTE, speaker/microphone, apps, etc... But as a dedicated sport watch the Fenix 7 Sapphire is a great option and it has superior mapping/navigation compared to just about any other brand. Do you value mapping? That's the easy answer. If you don't care about smartwatch features or mapping as much the COROS Pace Pro would make a great option and is arguably the best value in your list.
How would you compare that watch with garmin forerunner 955? i can't decide which one is better. Keep in mind i dont care about amoled display, i prefer mip
Would the pace pro nylon band fit the pace 3? They arent listed as directly compaitable but theyre both 22mm quick release so maybe they would still fit?
Does the display stay lit during activity, or do you have to use gesture mode? For me it is a dealbreaker that it behaves as a MIP screen during activity.
@ChaseTheSummit i really love the price point, and see them as tools like you mention it. GPS and battery life for ultrarunning are a prime question, heart rate second... everything else is a win if it comes with the watch!
Faster Processor, Mapping, AMOLED Display, significantly longer GPS-On battery life, ECG, slightly better build quality... those are the main differences compared to the Pace 3. Is that worth $100 USD premium? In my opinion yes!
Brands like TicWatch have pulled that off but it seems like it's a cumbersome design and with AMOLED tech advancing so much to the point where battery isn't a huge concern I don't really see the value anymore. The AMOLED display is easier to read in just about any lighting condition in my opinion. But that's purely my preference!
Wow, I’ve written several comments and RU-vid has deleted every single one of them because I shared a link to a website that compares the privacy policies of Garmin, Suunto, Coros, Apple, Polar etc. I guess I won’t share the website 🤷♂️. The Coros or Suunto would be an instant buy from me if it weren’t for their privacy policies.
It deleted it again…. Search “believe in the run” and click on their website and search for “privacy policies”. Read that article. Its not really an issue but people need to be aware of what they’re signing up for when buying a Coros or Suunto product. I’m not telling people they shouldn’t buy those brands. They seem to be amazing devices.
I'd generalize and say the Pace Pro is a more capable "sport watch" but has less "smart watch" features. If you free-dive or find value in the built in microphone on the T-Rex 3 that's probably your best bet. If you're mainly a runner, trail runner, hiker, etc... and value a more utilitarian experience the Pace Pro might be the move.
.. PLEASE ANSWER THIS .. .. WHY HAVEN'T "APPLE & SAMSUNG" PUT SUPPLEMENTAL POWER-SUPPLIES IN WATCH-STRAPS...❓ .. IT'S A "NO--BRAINER" TO USE THAT AVAILABLE SPACE .... PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON THIS SUBJECT .. .. THANK--YOU ..💋💋
Not sure I understand the "attend" part. But yes, this watch supports music playback but only from its internal storage with MP3 files. It doesn't support music controls on your phone or streaming services like Spotify.
