I've been waiting for this one to come back around, ever since Gopher said he wanted to do a Net-Runner playthrough; but didn't want to commit to it until some of the bigger issues were patched. Glad to see that not only were most (if not all) of the bigger issues patched, and even a majority of the littler ones too. This gonna be fun to see from a new perspective.
Oh hell yeah! Corpo undeniably has the most interesting dialogue choices that provide so much more context and world-lore to every situation. This is going to be GREAT. Street-Kid is second best, with Nomad really only mattering for the Badlands, but they compensate by being able to tune Jackie's ride.
@@TheAnon26 Nowadays there's some weird scaling going on. Used to be set, but it varies depending on your character level. I don't know the math at work though.
Yeah street kid is alright at least it has some interesting interactions and background, a good opposite to Corpo, Nomad though? I wish there was more of a "technical" part of that background where V has intimate knowledge about the world BEYOND night city. @@DiabeticNecromancer
If anyone is curious, here is a TLDR of what the mods listed in the description do: *-Limited HUD* Hides HUD elements based on configurable parameters. *-Mod Settings* Adds an ingame menu to configure other mods. *-ArchiveXL, Input Loader ,RED4ext ,redscript* These four mods are just there to enable and support other mods. Mod Settings and Limited HUD in this case.
Wohoo, been waiting for this :D Personally I burned out a bit on Cyberpunk after two (or rather 1 1/2) playthroughs in a row since 2.0 came out, but I am always ready for a Gopher-playthrough of this game 😊
I’m surprised Gopher is playing female V but I think this will be more entertaining. Female V with a British man’s voice in her head? LOL. Nevertheless, I’m definitely looking forward to this playthrough. 🥰
I have been waiting for this series. Nice to finally see it here. Edit: Grabbing that one guy has always been wonky. I was yelling "just one step toward right!" in my mind.
As soon as they announced Phantom Liberty I knew this fine gentleman of a gamer would be doing another playthrough. Easily my favorite vicarious experience when he plays the games I am playing or have played. With 1800 hours invested (Five playthroughs) in this one here I am ready to gobble up more hours of entertainment from Gopher.
I won't lie I was hoping tale of 2 wastelands would return first, but I didn't watch your first let's play of this game so at least I can fix that mistake now.
I cannot play a female character. It takes me out of the experience. It's not me. If I was a woman I wouldn't be able to play as a man. One of the reasons I never could get into HZD. I think the last game I played a female was tomb raider. But I don't enjoy those 3rd person top down games like DOS or BG3. My loss I guess but I just don't like them anymore.
Very happy you’re giving Cyberpunk another run after all the updates! I’ve been wondering whether or not to give it a go myself and this LP is just what I needed. And watching you is always a treat!
Watching this reminds me of why I prefer a silent (not voice acted) protagonist in RPGs. No criticism of the voice actor's performance; it's just that having a voiced player character results in my feeling separated from the world. With a voiced player character, I feel like an observer, only suggesting actions and responses, rather than actually being in the world and participating myself.
Finally. Also i think this is the first time you're roleplaying as a female character? Corpo V I think has to most unique dialogue in the game especially in PL where people action mention your lifepath a lot more and the VA Cherami Leigh does such a phenomenal job as fem V as well.
After having played a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 through multiple updates, I still think Corpo is my favorite start. It is interesting how others in Act 1 interact with you when you choose corpo dialogues. I felt it additionally gave you a different understanding of some characters if you played one of the other routes first. I also really liked how you're already good friends with Jackie instead of first meeting him during a job or at gun point (Nomad and Street Rat).
So Glad to see you playing the new and improved CP77. I was wondering when you where going to play again. this is going to be a great LP!! your going to like the new CP. can't wait to see what build you come out with. Have fun Gopher!!
I recently thought it would be nice to watch a playthrough of CP2077 after 2.0 and that it's a shame that Gopher probably won't play it. I don't remember the last time I was so glad to be wrong!
FUCKING THIS. I just cannot express enough how good the female V voice work is. Not only have I not even touched the male V because of how deeply fascinated I am with FemV, but she also is written very well. Legit turned to my favorite main/protagonist of all time.
It's a little odd that you can't steal most people's guns in the new update from an immersion perspective, as just happened to you with one of the scavs you zeroed, but it's so nice not having to do all that inventory management. This 2.0 update is fascinating from a game design perspective, as it removes more than it adds yet it's what the game needed.
Broken guns, as many are, are instantly reduced to crafting mats, intact guns go in to your inventory... to be broken down later, mostly. That scavs gun was broken.
...annnd we're back! Great to see Gopher returning to this game after all the updates. Looking forward to seeing how different this playthrough will be.
I don’t know if this is the case or not or if it’s more to do with the quality of the voice actor as others are saying but I am choosing to believe that Gopher is finally selecting a female protagonist because he has loved playing Aloy, and she has inspired him to try it in other games. Either way I’m super happy about it, and really excited for this playthrough 😄
I remember years ago when Gopher said that he can't play as female characters in RPGs, because he can't immerse himself in the character unless it's a male, haha. How times have changed. That said, I prefer the male V's voice actor so much more. The female V's voice actress is great, but like, every single line she delivers is overacted, in my opinion, and sounds like it's from some drama TV show. Male V sounds more monotone, but I think that's perfect for a merc.
Started watching this let's play finally. Will be interesting later on. V's head will be quite crowded. Having both Johnny and Gopher talking inside her head lol.
Man if the rest of Cyberpunk was as strong as the Corpo intro it would have been a GOAT. Rewatching it is just seething with gargantuan potential it is such a shame.
Glad to see this pop up, and with Cherami's V. But I might not be watching along, as I'd prefer to go through 2.0 myself, first. I checked out PL's opening on release, but Starfield monopolised my time.
I love Cyberpunk (hell, *my* Corpo V is my pic here), but I'm not sure I'd really call it an RPG. It's more a devil's-in-the-details class-player. V is very much a fixed character that you can't really alter that much. The backgrounds barely matter, they were really just unique intros that get sidelined. Corpo V, funnily enough, is arguably the best worst fit, too. It's like their whole personality or worldview flips the moment the generic merc montage kicks in. Luckily enough, I love Cherami's V; she's such a charismatic, frequently snarky, confrontational asshole... With an incredible depth of vulnerable humanity given the right circumstances (and people). So the rather fixed protagonist is a bonus in my book, and I don't really care that it's not exactly a great example of what a role-player can be.
@@SabiJD I use the term RPG loosely. In Cyberpunk 2077 we play a role (the merc named V) in the game. It is definitely a more narrative driven experience with less variety of choices BUT way more depth to the choices you do make and the outcomes from them. For example, my latest playthrough is a Street Kid V who beats everyone to death with a baseball bat. He is a thug that does NOT use stealth but will leave some gangers (mostly his homies the Valentino's) unconscious instead of dead. He is going to be a legend of NC or die trying. I agree about Fem V though..... my latest playthroughs have been Masc V just so i can have a different experience.
@@Hatterboot24 Yeah, that's what I mean by class-player, as opposed to role-player; mechanics and skills being the prime differentiator. To me, that just isn't enough. And I feel most RPGs are that these days. Having a voiced protagonist is arguably a big part of that complication, too. Not just for tone and personality, but in the quest choices and their consequences. Cyberpunk is, overall, a vastly superior game to Starfield... But SF, and TES, are great examples of role-playing agency that's close to my ideal; it's a huge deal to be able to just ignore an MQ, and define your [mute] creation through, say, a specific faction, or moral outlook. In most games, if you ignore the MQ, you're really ignoring the game's focus and prime structure. There's a lot of great content away from the story in Night City, but it ultimately becomes defined by opposition - player imposed friction - towards the story that's saying 'you're going to die soon'. Whilst I do disagree with how the RPG label has been used, ultimately labels don't matter, and it's highly subjective. For some, RP choice *within* quest arcs is crucial - which I don't really care about. It'd be nice, yes, but with BGS, your real choice is what factions you choose to do to express your moral outlook or motivations. So some see classes and skills/stats as key RPG DNA, others see choice at most points (with consequence), and I generally need to be able to create someone from scratch, to express all kinds of role motivations/goals, and tell my own story. I once had a pyscho vampire on Skyrim who took about 150hrs to start to turn into an anti-hero. An arc I never planned, but which evolved as I played. Anyhoo, sorry for the textwall. Every game/piece of media has flaws, and whatever the hell 2077 is, I'm glad it exists and I got to play it.
@@SabiJD *"not sure I'd really call it an RPG."* - I know some people want their own definitions for these labels/genres, but honestly I've never really seen the point. The generally accepted 'idea' of a cRPG is a computer game that resembles the old table top RPGs. That's it really. And if you end up having to clarify your own personal definition for a word each and every time you use it, then is the word really any use in conversations? *"V is very much a fixed character that you can't really alter that much. The backgrounds barely matter, they were really just unique intros that get sidelined."' - Some D&D campaigns are run where you are given pre-made characters by the DM. The Dragon Lance D&D campaign for example. D&D is still an RPG though :) I've seen people try to exclude games from the RPG genre because they weren't turn based, or didn't have a 'party'. I've also seen people try to include games just because they had a great story (as if RPGs could not have terrible stories) or (my personal favourite) because they were open world. Maybe the word will one day mean one of those things, but right now, that does not seem to be the case :)
@@SabiJD I agree with you basically 100 percent. Except I would not call Starfield a great RP experience compared to Skyrim. I have over 10,000 hours played in Skyrim so that definitely biases me but I was also just general disappointed with the RP experience in Starfield. Many parts of that game broke my immersion and made roleplay difficult. With Cyberpunk, what drew me in was how easily immersed I became in the world. It was and is such an immersive experience that following the narrative of the story became easy. I would boot up Cyberpunk on the weekend and just have 8 hours of my life disappear. Cyberpunk is best labeled as an action RPG a defined narrative focus, i think.
Yay! having played the hell out of the game since and all the improvements they've made it should be fun to watch. I must say though, a bit weird seeing Gopher playing a female haha
The jealousy I feel seeing you play this with path tracing at a playable framerate and not 15fps is killing me lol You made my 3070ti cry and you should feel bad
Correction, an *awesome*, voice actor. ; -) V is probably her best work, at least that I can think of. I equally associate her with Makoto in Persona 5, though.
@@valkyrie2832 Heh, I only ever play NA in Japanese, so I've only ever heard English A2 in videos. (NA in Japanese is amazing - 2B's characterisation is arguably better - but reading subs during action can be--- challenging... especially a certain major plot twist moment in the first route)
Cherami Leigh is goated. I've liked her a lot ever since hearing her for the first time way back when she dubbed for Kaze no Stigma. Fem V and Rhea are her best performances though full stop.
