Companies are buying up rental properties faster than they can be listed for sale, squeezing renters and buyers totally out of the market.
Kristen and Anthony Lilla say they thought renting a residence from a big company would give them an advantage in Tampa’s hyper-competitive housing market.
Instead, the military family says the eight months they spent living in a Progress Residential-owned home was "a nightmare of an experience."

The bigger problem is not that the issue exists, it's that there is nothing being done about it.

People need to contact their representatives at all levels of government and demand that something be done about it. Otherwise, say goodbye to homeownership.

Technically there’s nothing illegal about it. Definitely unethical and slimy. According to the charts in this report the housing market in ten years will be ridiculously unaffordable for anyone. If this trend continues.

I have 16 unit apartment unit in Tampa. I have a fixed mortgage. I refuse to raise rents beyond the increase in my costs for taxes, insurance and repairs. To other land lords: good tenants are an asset. Be kind and it will be a win/win situation. I need stable tenants and tenants need a stable place to live. What goes around, will come around.

@Symplelyfe09 Most countries allow foreigners to purchase homes, but they levy taxes on them. That's the issue with the US. If you aren't a permanent resident or citizen of the US you shouldn't be allowed to buy residential properties without some hefty taxes.

Forget big cities and their suburbs... I can't even get a house in small town Pennsylvania because there's absolutely no chance at competing with all-cash offers that are way above asking price, and sell in a matter of 48 hours. My family won't blow all our savings and take a risk on a house that we haven't even seen in person yet, but that's the market no matter where you live. We thought this smaller place in PA was always safe, sadly there has been a lot of poverty there but we are lower income too, but I am witnessing it all being bought out every single day. There's nothing there but nature...but that's a major selling point for wealthier buyers. So it's over -- it will no longer be affordable there. Time to look for another town that hasn't been touched yet.

Oh wait idiot on RU-vid comments think that property can be grown like corn. I guess if we live in a free market, we will be allowed to freely trade anything without any penalty include drugs ?

this plandemic and all the money printing was planned for exactly this purpose. The scary thing is this is happening everywhere in the world. It is exactly what the world economic forum wanted. There should be a law outlawing Corp Monopolization for the housing market in Florida. Seriously. California just intro a bill stopping the same thing. It seems like some entity is always trying to take advantage of the housing market. In 2008 the housing market was used in way of mortgages and now this.

Yeah I’m sure Ron desantis will be thrilled to sign a bill into law that directly eats into his campaign donors profits, same goes for a lot of the representatives in the Florida state legislature who are in the desantis camp lol. Same thing applies to most other conservative states

Only 25% of purchasers are institutional investors. And they only buy in about 10 cities! MOST regular buyers take on a mortgage. So take this video with a grain of salt. FL and AZ are a nightmare for the common citizen to live in. All tourists, transplants, and investors.

Will there be any limit to the greediness? The housing prices and costs are going up and unaffordable. Already housing is eating up 65 - 70% of pay stubs, how can ppl spend on other things like healthy food and good education. Housing is a basic need for every citizen, the more property rates rises the more divided the society will become. Sad that government is not intervening and resolving this problem. Middle class is totally pucked, there will be only poor and rich if this continues for couple of yrs.
