Thank you for the explaination! So ordinary people who book a flight, an hotel, etc. on the internet are not using a GDS, right? Are they using IDS (Internet Distibution System) ?
Dear Bruco la, Individual Traveler's do no have access to the GDS systems directly. That is correct. How ever many of the big OTAs (Online Travel Agence) have realised that many Hotels have their inventory already on GDS. So Players such as Expedia or HRS have been using GDS access to make reservations for their guests. Most Individual Traveler's today use OTAs such as Booking.com, Expedia or any of the sub-brands of the Giants. But the actual reservation might be made on the GFS system for them with out them ever knowing. Does that help? Dear @Ericxz Tv, PMS stands for Property management system and is the tool (similar to a ERP) to manage Hotel internal processes. GDS stands for Global Distribution System and is registry to sell your Hotel rooms. Specially focused on corporate negotiated rates. I hope this helps? Cheers!
