If you want to try to track down residents and know their story about what happened, you can begin with the County clerks’ office and access a history of the property. You can then do a google search of the names of the listed most recent owner. There will be a record. I don’t know how to research the census records to see who lived n these homes in order to track them down. This is very sad. I would say these farmers were prosperous at one time.

Serious question for the people who made this video, why are sooooooooo many homes being bought up and torn down in Canada???? It seems like there is a neighborhood of older- oldish mansions, and then one day everyone leaves, they tear them down, and build new ones. Is it to be rid of bigger old homes, which can be cost prohibitive to repair, to bring to the present?? Or is there something more to it?? I’m in the US, but it’s something I have noticed on repeat. We have that here, don’t get me wrong, but not quite to the level I see there. If you could take a moment to let me know I would really appreciate it!

Here in Canada the Developers are required to board up and secure any abandoned houses or others buildings. They can actually face serious consequences if buildings are not secure. Also if you get caught in an abandoned building in Canada they take it seriously. Since it all comes down to liability, if somebody gets hurt, the owner even if it's abandoned is liable still.
