Clay you have almost made me a scratch golfer, thanks for all the free lessons. You made me understand all about my swing and the flaws that happen. Thanks again man keep the lessons coming
Great exercise. I have seen a great improvement in my iron and driver swing. No more slices or hooks. My draws and fades are tightening in. It works. 😁
Just returned to golf after a 12 year hiatus and some of the tips and drills Clay gives has helped fix some of my issues. Now it is time to focus on muscle memory and stamina.
Very timely video for me! I have been trying to work my way through the technically correct positions on the backswing with disastrous results for my golf game. This video makes clear to me that I have lost sight of the larger golf swing, becoming very stiff and clunky.
After watching this a few times and i try it on the range today , it works great for me , my ball striking improve a lot , this tip solve my issue i can do a full shoulder turn everytime now. Thanks Clay ....... love all you video .....
In this video you said in the backswing you feel your ribs rotating and your arms are not doing much at all at the start of the back swing. You have another video "One piece takeaway golf swing done right", in that video you said at the 2:50 mark, it feels like just your shoulders are rotating. I tried it and it helped me a lot. It felt like everything was in sync. Exp: arms push the shoulders back, shoulders turn the chest, chest turns the hips. Am I correct in this analogy or am I still doing it wrong. When I start my backswing with my chest I have trouble hitting the ball well. All your videos are great, thanks.
Love the explanation of the takeaway Clay, just what I needed to practice to get the golf swing started off correctly. If we can do this right the rest of the golf swing is so much easier. Cheers
I’ve always seemed to struggle with the driver and watching the rib cage turn was the “ah ha” moment I’ve been searching for. Can finally get a turn without using the arms to manipulate the position, gives me the width at the top that I’ve never had. Great vid. Cheers
I'm enjoying your videos. I find your swing fits my own golf swing. That really makes it good for my golf game. I have dropped 5 strokes from my game. Thanks.
If you make a one piece takeaway with a lot of shoulder turn is it okay for the club to be a little bit to the inside when the club reaches about hip high?
Hi Jordan, yeah, that is fine. It only matters what happens at impact so if you're swinging on plane on the downswing then I would change your backswign plane. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Sometimes I feel that these videos are made just for me lol, great tip! I always felt that if my hands weren't tight that the club face could move around and cause me to slice, which made me naturally want to strangle the grip...
I'm working through the Stable and Fluid Spine section of the TSGS. In the Spine Tilt sections it's difficult for me to keep that spine tilt during the back swing. Address is fine but as soon as I start the take away I start to straighten my tilt back to straight up then in the down swing I resume that tilt. Is there something I'm missing in the teaching? By the way, I can't tell you how much my swing has improved already. This system is fantastic.
Thank you for this simple video. I’m struggling with my golf swing because I’m coming down too much from the inside and I’m trying to come up in a different way. If you can, I’ve got a question for you: when you say that a good takeaway should be done avoiding arms and hands movements, is this ok also for the second part of the upswing when you say that shoulders should reach the 90 degrees angle? Bye from Italy!
One thing I have noticed is in the takeaway some guys have the toe way too open and not toe up and they don't know how to turn it back closed faced with the left hand. I almost think showing toe up for them to get the feeling then the rest follows with the feedback
Hi Josh, that can be an issue. It usually leads to swinging really flat too. Whatever you do in the backswing, you have to do in the downswing to bring it back to square. You want to roll it open some to make it easier to swing the club on plane. It's about finding the happy medium that works best for you. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Did you think for a first time golfer you should try both left and right handed clubs. Example. Im right hand dominate and i use lefty clubs. Do you think people should try both. Talk about this some how
Hi, I think you should use whatever allows you to hit the ball the best with the most speed. For most people this is going to be their dominant side. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
There is NO SUCH THING as correct takeaway. There are takeaways that make good contact easier.. but most people find compensations that bring their club, on the downswing, back into positions that allow good contact.
Hi, thanks for the comment. You are correct, the only thing that really matters is impact. Find the takeaway that gives you the best impact. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
